My father wanted a site to sell prints of his oil paintings & photography online.
In a couple days I threw this site together from scratch. He loves the site and is absolutely thrilled with the end result.

I'm looking for some feedback on the design of the site.
Anything - Layout/Code/Graphics/Font/etc. whatever you feel like commenting on.

Thanks for lookin!

wow, i think this is great!

i love your rollovers

i think though, you should categorize artwork based on medium. unless the majority are of the same medium

for the rollovers, add this to the <a href...> code:

CODE
onFocus="if(this.blur)this.blur()"

it'll keep the dotted white margins from appearing when people click down.

Ya I thought the rollovers were a nice touch _smile.gif

All of the art pieces are oil paintings, otherwise they'd be categorized accordingly.

I knew there was some onFocus code that could remove those, couldn't remember what it was. Thanks! (I added the code)

Deja vu? LOL

lol. I made a thread over a year ago that was showing off my Dad's oil paintings on an older site I had made for him (without the ability to sell prints). If that's what you're deja vu'ing tongue.gif

I was very worried about making the entire site revolve around a single color, but I think it turned out alright _smile.gif

thnx for the compliments biggrin.gif

Well, there was this thread that I just mentioned, that was over a year ago.
Good memory if that's what you're recalling! lol

And I recently posted some of my photography in the pictures subforum, and I'm selling some of my photos alongside my Dad's.

So you may have seen it a couple places tongue.gif

Really professional. Is the font big, or is it just my computer? I really like the navigation, like the rest of the people who've replied. It's really original. thumbsup.gif

Wow, thanks for all of the compliments and feedback everyone! I really appreciate it! :)

I'm still having trouble coming up with a 16x16 icon for the site though.. hmm.. any ideas? that's not exactly a large canvas to work with haha

But ya, thanks again for all of the compliments _smile.gif

That's the best I could get with a 16x16 pixel viking ship. lol. I am so not a pixel artist! laugh.gif

So I may have to just go with "KD" as the icon.

Or a big K in Times New Roman font or something...

Try a KD together, sort of like the calvin klein logo or together like the louis vuitton one.

I'll play around with a KD logo concept over the next few days when I have some free time.
I really like the idea of using small paintbrushes to make the letters _smile.gif

I originally drew the viking ship on paper, scanned it, and then traced over it in Photoshop to make the larger logo.

but ya, for now the picture favicon is alright, but I found it in a gigantic icon package online, so I don't want to be using someone else's work without knowing who or how to credit! lol

Thanks again for the feedback everyone! I really appreciate it! I worked pretty hard on this site as far as creating the design and coding everything, I'm glad it turned out presentable _smile.gif

Well, I made a couple of concept 16x16 favicons that I may be able to use, but I was at my bro's house and I forgot to upload/email them, so I'll post them when I have access to them again. wink.gif

But meanwhile, the footer is starting to annoy me stubborn.gif
It just looks too... bland... I dunno what I could do with it though... what about this?

(Before vs After)
Better?

I like the before way better. The black looks completely out of place. I also might be the only one who doesn't like the rollovers, I'm not sure why but I just feel like it looks...tacky-ish.

Also, this paragraph "As a serious art business owner, with a solid, long-term art-business-commitment, Kenn wisely insures his buyers that what they buy today will be worth much more (as an art investment) ten to twenty years from now." It just doesn't flow well. Too many run on sentences. I'll think more later on how to reword it but, perhaps it's just too wordy.

Rachel --> thanks for pointing that out, I definitely thought that some of the site's text needed some revising.
Also, I'm thinking that the 2nd version of the footer would be better if it were another light shade of blue, something that didn't stick out so much.

speakerboxx123 --> thanks for the input. I'm planning on adding categories for the photography soon, when I add some more photos.

emberfly --> Thank you _smile.gif
I sold a lot of the photo prints at the Fremont Fair in Seattle this past weekend, many compliments. _smile.gif
