 seriously - i can't stand this thing. i've vectored in illustrator and in corel and neither of their pen tools are as annoying as the one in photoshop. |

Paint has a pentool?
Seeing as how I don't have illustrator or any other graphic editing program, Photoshop's pen tool seems okay to me. <_< Can I continue the trend? :D Dear Photoshop, I hate how much space you take up on my shared computer. And how you always take fifteen minutes to open a stupid document. |

How are they different?
The only programs I've had are Gimp, PSP, and Photoshop. I never use the Pen Tool in PSP, so i dont know. And i dont even know if Gimp has one.. |

With photoshop's pentool, you have to reclick on the line, then press "ctrl" to curve the line. On illustrator, you make the curve directly, then reclick on the last node to make the next curve. In corel, you make the curve directly, click somewhere else, press "ctrl-z," then go to make the next curve.
if that made sense at all. |

lol me too. i don't have patience for the pen tool whatsoever. i just start out really good & halfway through using it, i'm like 'oh whatever. f/ck it' & do a crappy job. which is why i don't use it as much as i'd like to

Photoshop has enough customers that need to use the program legally (e.g. education, industry professionals) that they don't worry about illegal downloads. That's why the price is so jacked up. Mere mortals like us could probably get away with Gimp, but we insist on Photoshop (because we demand excellence!).

I like the pen tool in Photoshop too, especially for extractions. I used to use the lasso tool, and then I discovered how to use the pentool and it was like  THANK YOU SO MUCH!

although it took time to learn how to use it...
