Okay, so I was watching TV and this commericial for some medicine came on. It went on with the usually corny dialogue along with what the medicine does and what the side affects are. The lady was going on saying them outloud as they were strolling by in small text below the screen. It went a little something like this: "May cause drowiness, nausea, headache, sleepiness and even death." DEATH? Why would I even take a medicine to help me get better if I might end up dying anyway. shrug.gif

well they are require to put that because it's a part of the law.
also, not a lot of people read the fine print so they wouldn't know about the side effects.
also death may occur from taking the medicine if you take it excessively, right?
i mean i don't think you'll drop dead if you took it a few times. lol

If there isn't a likely risk of severe bodily harm, then your medicine is for pansies.

My friend Conner was taking this bottle of medicine for his upset stomach. It had a picture of a teddy bear with a thermometer in its mouth on the label. Gross. So, when he was sleeping, I switched it with this other bottle that had a badass picture of a skull and crossbones on it (he's a metal head, so I figured he'd appreciate that). I haven't heard a peep out of him since.

All medicines have a possibility of causing death. So it's not really alarming or surprising to me.

They are required to do so...

I suppose if the good things out weighed the bad, then why not?

^What Natalia said. I've heard that too, on the lapband system commercials. Though considering on how it functions, I'm not surprised they include that in their commercial. If they don't, they can be sued by potential people taking this medicine that may have died because of it.

My brother is currently taking medicine that may cause death, but like Holly said, the good outweighs the bad, so it's a risk he decided to take.

Well, depending on whether or not you have any preexsisting conditions, it could cause death.

A healthy person could take a medicine and be fine, and another person who has kidney problems could take the same medicine and end up with horrible consequences.

LOL, I love American adverts - they're so obscene. Pharmaceutical companies don't advertise their products on television over here, unless it's something like a mild hayfever supressor. Honestly could not believe the stuff shown on the US networks. The lipozene ads are my ultimate favorite.

^ The allergy ads scare me a little.

And what was the medicine for? Because if your chance of dying from the illness was greater than your chance of dying from the medication, then obviously you would take it!
