I don't like the Beatles, but thats because its not my type of music, so i don't have the right to say there good or bad.
But i don't think there too bad.
And the reason there so big is basically because they were the first band to have that kind of music.

you're only 15 right? you must not know much about music history. do some more research on how they change music and had a great impact on it, then come back and say they are overrated.

I know how they "changed music".
If it wasn't them it would have been someone else.

The Beatles were great, they changed music, inspired many artists but all of a sudden over here in Oregon, and mabye everywhere else(06 - 07) The Beatles were "cool" again. Everyone started to listen to them, wear their shirts, and call them the greatest band ever. Overrated, yes for a while, now every thing's back to normal, the actual Beatles fans listen to them, I still do, so no they aren't overrated.

I don't think that they are that overrated. I think that they need to be remembered as an amazing band, but not fussed over all the time as the "best band ever" there are still new bands to be discovered that may or not may change the world like them.

Personally, I don't listen to any of their music but I don't think their overrated because I know who they are but they're not overplayed everywhere in the world. shrug.gif Btw, I think you look a lot like Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Not really. That's like saying Nirvana is overrated.

Are they overmarketed, yes. All the "greats" are. Marilyn Monroe, The Ramones, The Beatles, Nirvana, etc. They all have box sets, TShirts... the whole bang.

mellow.gif Have you ever listened to any other songs by them besides that? That's one of their less meaningful songs, IMO. I'm a big Beatles fan myself, so I'm bias about this. But I guess it's what everyone's taste is..

I completely agree with Tung. The Beatles were revolutionary band that still has a huge devoted number of fans. They sang about a LOT more than submarines, hon.
Ever hear Happiness is a Warm Gun? they have the drums playing in a 4/4 time, while they sing in 3/4, a waltz tempo.
Howabout Because? Inverted Beethovan chords right there.
Taxman? that's completely political, dealing with taxing of the wealthy in england.
Martha My Dear? About Paul McCartney's dog.

no? I didn't think so.

They changed the way music was, and made it something new, something great. NO one has even come close to the success they had. I'm a bit biased, because they're my favorite band ever, but even people who don't like them know what they did, and respect them for it.
They're beginning to be waaaaaay overmarketed now, with all this Across the Universe crap. I see girls walking around with Beatles bag, shirts, whatever. It pisses me off, because they only know the songs that were in the movie, or off the 1 album. They have Let it Be on their iPod and call themselves a Beatles fanatic. BULL. I asked one of these girls to name all four of the Beatles and she was like "well...um....uh...like, one of them was named Ringo, right?"

So, overmarketed, unfotunately, yes
Overrated, HELL NO.

^ my dad would absolutely love you.

i grew up listening to the beatles (+ a wide variety of other music). i think they've done more than earn their place in music history.

i agree that the probable reason why beatlefandom is a nuisance now is 'cause of across the universe.

*off topic*
haha. my friend who is asian *not to be racist or anything* didn't know who the beatles were and i laughed at him for the whole day XD
