I was lucky enough to get seats to see the Iron Man premeire in my hometown. The movie not only featured some of the best special effects I've seen in a superhero movie, it also spotlighted some amazing performances, while not completely excellent were extremely realistic and respectful to the comic books.

First Off:

One of the most exciting parts of the night was getting to see the NON bootleg version of the new Dark Knight trailer, AND a never before seen Indiana Jones 4 trailer which was absolutely amazing.

The movie starts off just as fast paced as I was expecting it to, and continued to keep that pace throughout the movie. The characters were not over-acted and each one plays an important role in the story. Faverau knew exactly what he was doing, he wasn't redefining the way we think of Superheroes, he was creating a franchise and he suceeded.

Without spoiling to much the movies leaves you completely wanting more AND BE SURE TO STAY AFTER THE CREDITS, its seriously the biggest bonus in Comic Book history since Spider Man was making its debut to the big screen. If your a fan of Comics then MAKE SURE YOU STAY.

Downey's performance was amazing, I compare it to his performance in a Guide to Recognizing your Saints, which was equally amazing. Something about his characters all seem to relate, they are all very hard on the outside and each try to hide the fact that they do have a heart, in Iron Man its no exception. Paltrow's performance was believable and not to over the top. She didn't play a damsel in distress, and it was refreshing to see a female lead not give into the cliche' bs that superhero movies tend to put female roles in. The dude's (aka Jeff Bridges) was surprisingly well developed, and even though he does play the villain, its difficult to hate him. Terrence Howard's role will be bigger in the Sequel, but for an introduction, the chemistry between Stark and Rhodes was great, and will be easy to accept and understand for the Sequel plot, which if some of you don't know, then I wont spoil it.

The visual effects were impressive, and easy on the eyes, Favereau doesn't pull a Wachowski by any means. The sound is equally entertaining, the score of the movie was rather subtle, but also played an important part to the progression of the plot.

The biggest shock was its unconventional ending, which I won't spoil, that definitely leaves fans wanting more.

overall the Premiere experience was excellent and the movie is definitely a highlight of 2008's summer blockbusters. As of right now it stands at a 96% on RottenTomatoes, and continues to grow in success.

-----Cheers.
Matt

P.S. I hope those fans of Iron Man leave your review, as I would enjoy reading it :)

Fantastic movie. Robert Downey Jr. is amazing again. I love his comedic style. The sarcasm, the quick wit, and who better to play Tony Stark? I love the little kick backs to the comic. "Next time baby"

Terrence Howard is amazing PS.

I'm not sure if you've seen it, but Downey defines Tony Stark, his imperfections, his indirect compassion and determination to be sucessful but continue to do the right thing, is exactly how Downey portrays Tony Stark, and its incredible how accurately he sticks to the comics. I love hearing other peoples opinions and comments, but trust me when I say this, before you judge, see the movie then respond.

I have heard nothing but good things about this and I certainly intend to see it (now). I love Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel comics so the decision isn't exactly hard. But, I am a total jerk, so...

Aw dammit, what happened after the credits?

And Downey is AMAZING. He's fantastic. NO ONE else could have done that role better. He was perfect.

I liked it. It was pretty good, definitely worth the B+ Yahoo Critics' average grade. It's even hard to get a B+, let alone even get an A-, for yahoo movies review.

I saw it on Thursday, at 8:40pm. Yea, I guess they had an early showing for it, I guess. :] Gwenith Paltrow (sp?) definitely seems different from the last time I saw her, from A View From the Top.

"And I know it in my heart, that this is right" < - I really thought that line was cheesy, even though the part that it was in was really serious. XD haha

Just got home from watching it. Pretty cool, pretty cool. Although I must admit, I was a little bored at the beginning. I watched the movie not knowing who really starred in it besides Robert Downey Jr. (really hot btw. I never thought I actually think he'd be hot. XD.gif), and I was surprised at Gwyneth Paltrow's role for a minute. Don't ask me why. I guess I just wouldn't expect her to play a role like this. shrug.gif

But anyway,

I thought the best part was the flying sequence with the planes. Wayyy cool.

Saw the 10:45 showing. I am usually not a movie person, but the crowd in the theater was great first off. Secondly, the movie was excellent. I honestly will admit, that I can't wait for the sequel.

LOVED this movie. Downey is freekin' smoking, the acting was brilliant, the soundtrack is making it's rounds on my Windows Media Player...can't fault it. Up there with the best superhero movies.

I thought the movie was good but I'm cosigning. There should have been more action. Honestly I think the next movie will have more action since this was more of a developmental process of the hero personality and armor wise.

I'm suprised no one has a made a layout for Iron Man. = [

I saw the movie and yes I am a bit late on discussion. Robert Downey Jr. Great actor. Loved him in A Scanner Darkly. I rented Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, and have yet to watch Chaplin.

I also can't wait to see Dark Knight. Do you guys think this movie will come as close to making what Iron Man made?

Oh, and I might just see Incredible Hulk just for RDJ cameo appearance.

I really, really, REALLY loved that movie.

It seemed like a more of a "grown-up" superhero movie, which I liked.

And not just the whole middle eastern parts.
