i took the april one. i thought it was pretty easy, but FAR too less time! i mean, the time for the reading section was ridiculously short.
any particular prep book that helped you out tremendously?

I took the ACT my junior year in Highschool and I was enrolled in Kaplan SAT courses and it helped me do well; when I took the SAT, 1600 was the highest so I was happy with my 1300 and on the ACT I got a 28 composite score. I stopped by the public library for an ACT prep book (I forgot the exact name but I'm sure any book will do). The ACT to me, was much easier than the ACT because I swear if I wasn't in the Kaplan prep courses I wouldn't have scored that high my first time.

I didn't prep for my ACT. I'm a SPED, so usually I get help on my tests in school, but I did the regular 'ole ACT and only got a 21. The science part was the hardest for me with the graphs and all.

I've taken one ACT class that went over the reading and science section. I thought the reading section was pretty simple, but I don't know what classifies as a good score for ACT. For the practice test, I got a 32.

I thought the science section was absolute bogus. I couldn't stay awake at all during the science lesson and was intensely confused during the practice test for science so I kind of bubbled randomly and got a 28. shrug.gif

Is science configured as part as your composite score?

I know my science eyebrowes.gif math and reading are kinda, eh. lol

Yea each subject is configured as your composite but colleges are only going to look at math and english/reading portion

Sorry for bumping this up, lol.

But I'm waiting for my scores right now..I took it on April 23? with the school's state testing. And ugh I still haven't gotten it back. I already signed up for the next ACT test date...so yeah.

Geeeezzz..I really want my scores. The one I took was extremely hard and my practice tests were so much easier! My instructor told us that a lot of the past students who took the prep course I took said that the practice tests were harder than the actual ACT. SO I was disappointed when I was taking the exam. The only hard portion was the math, in which geometry over ruled all the other topics.

I'm studying at the moment..or was anyways.

For april's test you should already be able to check your scores online. The mailed scores will come shortly maybe next week or so :)

Yeah, I have an account and it's still not up. It's so aggravating!! I know a lot of high schools near me that already gotten theirs. And almost everyone I talked to from my school has theirs. =/

And I didn't get it today. Darn mailman....totally brought me down. lol

I'm taking it this Saturday. Any tips? I don't think I can read and answer all the questions in the reading section in 45 minutes. That's all I'm nervous about. I'd love a 29.

Did anyone else take the ACT yesterday? I took it for the second time yesterday, fun fun stubborn.gif. I got a 22 the first time I took it, but I was practically high from all the medicine I had to take from my cold. So I'm positive I did A LOT better this time.

What did you get on the ACT?

I took the ACT a bit early. I was in 8th grade.

But you never know about being high, if you think about The Beatles, it brings out the brilliance in some people.

Yeah, I took it yesterday. It was my first time taking it though, and I probably didn't do so well. But I'll know in 5-7 weeks. stubborn.gif

I took it yesterday.
The exam was like a freaking race on every section!
I had no time to read the science info that was on every passage.
Barely caught up with Reading and English either.

Writing portion was great. I thought I wrote a pretty good essay. At least a 9-10.. hopefully.
Math was a breeze in the beginning, but then difficulty kicked in and I had to guess on like 5 problems.

Hoping for at least a 25-27.
There is a glitch the ACT has that allows users to see their scores a week after the exam.
I can't wait until this Wednesday (it's up by then.. for some) to see my scores!

I took it back in April and got a 27. Idk, I had enough time for each part. In each section including the writing, I had at least five minutes to spare. My only concern was answering every question & not skipping any since you don't get points off for guessing.

The only thing I hated was the science part since I've never taken chemistry, even though most of it is reading comprehension. Plus...by the time I got to the science part I was like "Wth...just get me to the writing so I can get it over with!!!"

Annoying that the writing is last.

The first time I took the ACT the whole science part was chemistry and astrology, and the second time i took it was like plant stuff and electricity. I think the reason I did such a crappy job on the science the first time was because it was everything I didn't know, but the second time I had a pretty good grasp on everything. So hopefully that helps my score.

I got a 32.

My worst was probably the science portion and that was a 30.

And I got a perfect score on the essay biggrin.gif I remember my essay being something about fast food and dieting, lol.

Hmm, that's weird. I was checking it every day and I didn't get to see it until this morning.

I got a 24, I was hoping for a 26 but whatever. I really only need a 23 to have the "average" of the university I want to get in to, so I guess I'm set. I got 28 on both the english and reading, and 20 on math and science. Ouch.

Don't you get points off for guessing on the SAT? That's so dumb. I would do terrible on the SAT.

yeah you friggin lose a quarter of a point.
its bad enough for missing out on points for not getting the question right. but for it to go down more because of deduction.
WTF!

Some of the juniors who took it this year havent even gotten theirs back yet and they took it in march.
Apparently our school sent them in late and the people who score them said they might not even look at them because they were in late.

well i'm sure that wont happen to me :D
since my still-not-getting-my-score-yet-ness is because my test day was rescheduled. when there was no severe weather problem...

I got a 10. Better than I anticipated. English/Writing is a 31.
I think I might retake the ACT's again. Hopefully I can write just as good of an essay.

I lost the paper that had my ID on it so I can't check the score for the practice one I took. Nearly four hours of my life wasted that day.

I live in Michigan. At almost all the schools here you can take the ACT or the SAT. They'll take either one. So most take the ACT since we're required to take it to graduate.

That's odd, it seems like most people like the ACT a lot more.

in california almost everyone takes SAT.
i was flipping through my UC booklet, and it seems like
94% of applicants take the SAT, but only 23% take ACT.
some people like me like to take both.

well i FINALLY got my ACT score.
english: 33 (+3)
math: 32 (+2)
reading: 23 (-1)
science: 26 (-1)
writing: still waiting -____-
composite: 29 (+1)

yeahh. im pretty pissed about the reading and science parts going down. and bringing down my composite score.

Meh, I got a 26 on the ACT...oh, and my writing score was a 10/12.
I'm going to retake it in the fall.
I was hoping for a 30 or higher.
