so this is turning out to be an interesting week at my school. on monday, threatening messages that are could be considered terroristic were written on bathroom walls...the only think we know is that it relates to friday. tehy wont say anything else. tuesday- 14 cars were vandalized at school. and today- security was hightened and 200/2000 kids stayed home because their parents are scared.

most people think that theres going to be a shooting. i dont think its really going to happen. i'm sure security is going to be even better on friday than it was today.

so i'm going to school. most of my friends are. some of my friends' parents are making them stay home though.

so what would you guys do?

I would go, why? i am not sure, those things really don't worry me though, make me paranoid? yes but thats nothing you can't get over if it doesn't happen.

i go to school that is right next to this avenue and there's this gang there thats called "6th AVE". its funny. we get threats a lot, but its not really anything. i mean, nothing has happened to the school in the past four years i've been here. other than bloody fights and my friend's car being stolen by the same guy who took her cellphone, nothing.

so i would go to school. it shouldn't be anything serious. probably the same group of people cracking jokes.

there was this one time, there was a bomb threat. i WANTED to go home anyways, so my dad signed me out. but i didn't go home because of the threat. there was no proof of anything, it was the most random thing that day.

Yeah, I mean I'll be more observant than I normally am (I seem to be oblivious to fights in the halls).

But I think if there really was a serious threat, they would call school off. THey're just playing it safe with the extra security that so far isn't very good.

i would go. because as it was stated, if the school was in serious danger, they would just call it off.
granted i would be a little paranoid, but i would rather be there doing something than sitting at home worrying.

I have the growing suspicion people are only writing that on shit to get out of school.

Its happening all over my area,And I noticed that tests are comming up so it would make sense.

Yeah I'm pretty sure its a prank of some sort. And I heard one of the seniors listing off everything she had on friday. So it could be something like that. But you never know...I'm surprised my mom is letting me go though.

i would go. there's a risk in anything you do; you can't let that stop you.

it's different though if there was a serious hostage situation or something ;o

honestly, i'd start stashing weapons at school, unless school security is doing searches in people's stuff and using detectors. get your stuff stashed on thursday, so if they pull searches on friday, you'll already have your stuff in.

just don't actually bring a gun because then they'd think it was you who was starting everything.

or if your school has an auto & body shop, loot some tools from there or bring your own.

It's kinda turning into a boy who cried wolf situation. The thing is, though, is that schools have to take every threat seriously, so even if it's some little punk kid who thinks it's funny they have to do something about it. There were kids who came to my school with guns (I know I've told this story here before) but they didn't actually kill anyone, thank goodness.

I would still go. Living in a place like where I am now, my school gets threats about shootings, bomb threats, gangs, etc. I still went anyways, and nothing ever really happened. I live on the wild side. Rawr. cool.gif

My parents wouldn't let me miss school even if there was a shooting. mellow.gif So I'd probably be forced to go anyway.

We had a firecracker set off at our school yesterday.

One time when my dad went to this school, he saw somebody get stabbed in the bathroom. The person that attacked got 3 days suspension.

"Here, honey, wear this bulletproof vest. Remember, you hear gunshots, you hit the floor, okay?"

LOL.

My boyfriend attends Carnegie Mellon University and for buildings were closed multiple times because someone kept calling bomb threats.

Heightened security isn't necessarily a bad thing. It's only when people get careless is there a real problem.

woaah i had experienced the same situation at my college two weeks ago. someone wrote on a desk that they were going to start a shooting on a certain day. that day, the college was flooded with police and there was a huge delay just to get on campus. fortunately, nothing happened. it was just some disgruntled freshman who wanted to start something. or maybe he just wanted to get out of taking an exam. we've had threats like that occur mostly around midterms, finals, etc.

i still went to school, despite feeling very worried.

besides if i skipped another day for my creative writing class, i would have failed....

Moved to ACADEMIA > SCHOOL

Actually, I would stay home from school, if I were still in high school. It would just give me another valid reason to ditch, lol. But at the same time, I'd rather be safe than sorry. Plus my parents would want me to stay home too. Did they ever reveal whose cars (the 14 of them) were vandalized? Maybe someone has a vendetta against those students.. ?

Oh man, sometime last week, a guy committed suicide in a parking lot at Revelle College, one of the 6 campuses in my university. They said he was not an affiliate of the school though. No one that I know knows for sure. ermm.gif

I wouldn't go...too much is happening nowadays...people think it's just a prank & then it ends up really happening & then they end up having regrets that they didn't handle the situation better; there are too many sick people out there and people looking to go down in history because of incidents like this, take VT for example; that was the largest so far...I'd rather be safe at home & not at risk

So. Free day.

What're you planning on doing?

I think I would probably have just gone in... I dunno. I suppose it would be different if one is actually in the situation, though.

same here. i hate school. when i was in high school people would make threats and what not but nothing bad ever really happened (one time it was even on the news). the only time i was scared was when this one guy came into school with a gun and was running around the hallways. he was some girls older brother looking for the girls ex-boyfriend. pretty scary.... blink.gif

I'm hoping to hang out with my boyfriend since he's gonna stay home too. I hate days where I have nothing to do, so hopefully he can come over.

I'd rather go to school since I doubt its going to happen. Ihate missing classes and stuff. It gets me so behind.
