Have you ever gone out of your way to get back at someone for something petty, and then have it all blow up in your face, only to end up more annoyed/upset then you were before?

Sometimes, getting back at people canbe incredibly amusing, especially if you know how to get to them really well, but a lot of the time, it ends up being a little boring, or having unforseen consequences.

Oh, yeah, but sometimes it smashes a window, which is always satisfying.

Yeah, dude. There was this really snide kid in my history class who thought he knew everything. One time, we were having a discussion on the Louisiana Purchase, and this putz pointed out how the acquisition faced a lot of domestic opposition for increasing federal executive power. So I stood up and was like, "You know, Jay, I can't help but get the feeling that if you had been at the reigns in 1803, under the likes of your negotiations, the preliminaries of the Louisiana Purchase wouldn't have even come to fruition." Oh, burn. I almost regretted it as soon as the words had left my mouth...keyword: almost. It felt awesome at the time.

Then, I went to his car and wrote on the windshield, "THIS CAR LOOKS LIKE A FART."

Later, I realized that I didn't really resolve the core issues I took with him. I, instead, acted selfishly, in an attempt to fulfill my own synthetic satisfaction. So, I got one of those little office dartboards and glued his picture to the bullseye target.

I've tried to do the vengeance thing, sometimes it works so well you're sitting there stroking an imaginary white cat and planning further humiliations...other times you end up doing it to yourself and feeling like a bit of a doorknob.

Generally, it's not worth it unless you're getting even for something really significant. Like someone eating the last cookie from the cookie jar.

This thread reminds me of Sweeney Todd. laugh.gif

it's bad emotional karma though. i really do feel guilty afterwards ;x

I've taped faces to my punching bag :)
Not a good idea though, it makes me lose my concentration.

My plots haven't really ever majorly blown up. I don't do anything too serious nowadays (and that's including temporary injury) but I never feel remorseful about vengeance either.

Nope.

All my plots of vengeance have been a success.
