So, I bought these hair-cutting scissors and am planning to cut/trim my bangs tonight. I have longish side-swept bangs; they're growing out and I want them back. I've never cut my own hair before, so ... any tips or techniques I should be aware of before I completely f**k up my hair?

make sure the hair is even between your fingers and that you have a steady hand so you can cut straight or just let someone else cut them for you..it's pretty simple but a lot easier if someone else does it

CUT YOUR BANGS DRY!!!!!!! Leave it to the professionals if you're going to cut your bangs wet. Your hair tends to "shrink" as it gets dry, so you might end up cutting too much when hair is wet.

Why didn't you just ask the people selling the scissors? o_o

I use a razor if I'm in desperate need of a trim and don't have time to go to a salon.

edit/
do you have a picture of what kind of scissors they are?

i cut my bangs all the time.
cut them dry. make sure you don't move your head while you're doing it. and try twisting your hair and cutting it that way. that's what works best for cutting sideswept bangs. it keeps them from being too even. cut them a little longer than you want them at first and then trim them little by little until they're right.

happy snipping!

SO TRUE!

I had Kevin's roommate cut my hair (lol he did it in the dorm bathroom and he twisted my hair a lot. Of course he used a razor though. It seems easier with a razor because you only have to cut down, whereas with scissors you kind of have to move both parts of the scissors without shaking your hands. It just seems more stable with a razor.

But yea good luck! Oh man my bangs are getting long. I've gotten lazy to haul my ass over to Kevin's dorm again to get my hair cut.. Sooo lazy =X

bc I got them at the housewares store a block away, not at a salon. I doubt the Indian man at the counter knew how to cut hair.

Something like that but a different brand.

But thanks, I think I'm going to try the twisting-hair thing. I've cut my bangs before and they turned out kind of okay until I accidentally cut them too short. =[

i've never cut or trim my bangs but my mom trims my hair when it gets too long and she always does it dry.
