So I heard that many schools in California are attending the strike/riot in California, Sacramento tomorrow (April 15, 2008 -- Tuesday). Basically it's a strike to the governor relating on budget cuts.

If budget cut strikes, from sources that I heard, they will target lay offs to librarians than counselors. Not only that, but sports as well. Nooo! =X

The Strike starts around 3 or so. Basically it's at Sacramento and there's gonna be a hella people. The riot/strike is going to be at the governor' building stairs and roads are going to be filled with students, teachers, and parents from many different schools.

I get out at 11:45 tomorrow and students are allowed to get on the bus to go as well. Mostly all the teachers at my school are going and students as well. I would go because I will get extra credit for APUSH/AP English/Physics. Sadly, I don't have time to go since I have a lot of homework to catch up.

How about you guys? Anyone participating? What time do you get out?

/ Turns out today that is has been postponed. o.O The permit was not stabled enough.

Has this budget cut been passed yet?

I wrote a paper on it for my state & local government class & if it does pass, it will mean about 40 million cut in education--meaning that many teachers will be laid off, a few primary (elementary)schools will be closing, perhaps changing the law from 20-1 student/teacher to maybe 23-1, & college tuition fees will drastically increase.

For example ,community college fees will increase from the current $20 per unit to a fee of $26. Or possibly even up to $30!!!

If you that's bad, imagine those in CalStates & UCs pinch.gif

If this budget is passed, chances of getting into a good school will be that much harder because the schools won't have as much funding & the number of full/partial scholarships given will drastically decrease.
