how do i add in image to an image such as this jay z magazine cover. i want to add an city sky line to my own pic.

You could use the pen tool or some sort of extraction tool to take out the object you want and then paste it onto another image.

If you want it to look a little realistic, you'd have to use a little bit of the Warp tool so the skyline can conform to the shapes of the glasses or whatever you're doing it on...and some shadows/highlights as well.
