Hi everyone,
I recently had a very wierd experience. I was on a holiday in japan with my family, and I started noticing things were a bit strange. First of all, I attracted some attention, something I never do at home. A lot of people were looking, to be honest. At first I didn't give it much thought, but after a few days I started talking to people more, and they said things like "Your big nose is very good looking" or "Your white skin is so nice", and my blue eyes were not dull, but amazing. Those things would NEVER EVER had been said back home. Quite the contrary in fact. All the things that made me less than attractive at home, apparently made me hot in japan. For I quickly found out I was pretty darn attractive to the lovely japanese ladies. This got me thinking, obviously, I really was good looking, just not where I lived! So I started thinking, how could I find out how popular I was in different countries? And, as always with the internet, I found a way. There is this website called http://popularin.com/ that makes maps of where in the world you are popular. Gives us a generous vote: http://popularin.com/index.php?pid=o26-CDC As of right now, China and Japan seem to be heaven on earth for me. |

i've never been anywhere but the US and Guatemala... but i do know what you're talking about. when my friend went to Greece one summer (he's black), he had women throwing themselves at him. & when i went to Guatemala last summer people knew I didn't live there because of the way I dressed and carried myself. this got me a lot of undesired attention. I guess it has to do with people not being used to seeing someone like you. I guess people would be more "popular" if they moved to a place where people like them aren't common.

Popularity is all about being social. People think you have to be drop dead gorgeous to be popular. Fact of the matter is... if you're an open person and a social butterfly.... you'll easily become popular.
Now in terms of going to another country, this was the same for me... and I'm sure it could happen to any one that could be labeled a tourist. But what's odd is... why would they care about your looks in Japan... they're very diverse, plenty of blond haired, blue eyed, white people living there... meh anyways, hope you had fun! |
