createsecret was an immitation of postsecret for createblog, so they gave it mod powers
askalice was a failure that was supposed to be something to give advice, so they gave it mod powers

The accounts were approved by the administrators and given mod powers in Relationships.

No. Createsecret is dead and askalice is a failure. Besides, they were created for their own little thing. Advice giving and secret posting.

Well, obviously a mod is responsible for updating CreateSecret.

And AskAlice is dead, so pretty much no one.

Both are supposed to post to their respective threads and close them when done so that people don't post in the threads themselves. You have to be a moderator for a forum in order to close threads.

Createsecret has a discussion thread and AskAlice is supposed to have "problems" emailed.

As Steven has pointed out though, AskAlice isn't something I would refer to as a success. We had wanted AskAlice to post around the Relationship forums, sort of make a name for "herself" so that people had an idea of who they would be emailing problems to. That never happened and the whole AskAlice thing has sort of died.

I had much more faith in createsecret and still think that it has potential. I've actually brought up both of these Backstage recently.

Anyway, there isn't much in the way of modding abilities that either have, other than being able to mod threads in the Relationship Forum for the sole purpose of really only modding ONE thread (their respective threads). Unfortunately you can't limit moderating abilities to individual threads, so they were given modding abilities in the actual Relationship Forum.

Good question. If you bring it up they'll come up with some reason and if you question their flawed logic they'll close the thread and say because they said so, or that they're not obligated to answer.

You can continue discussing it here (although this thread might move to Feedback eventually). I don't see why it can't be discussed. =)

Ok. Do you mean modding the Relationship forum in general? Or specifically why those particular threads aren't seeing any movement? Or why you don't see those two "moderators" doing anything?

Combination?

Sorry, might be lack of sleep, but I'm not totally sure what you're asking.

Suzie, it's not really a big deal anyways, since no one really submits to CreateSecret and AskAlice rarely gets on to answer questions (due to the fact that no one submits them). And I believe that People Staff moderates the relationship sub forum as well. I go there everyday to check up and etcetera. Also that AskAlice is approved by the Administrators, and that person is there for Relationship purposes, so therefore, AskAlice has powers. About CreateSecret, that person has to come and post in the thread and it has to unlock/lock it when it wants to post and etc.

i suppose all three questions.

and not only that why hasn't anyone appointed a proper mod for that forum. I really don't want to be annoying but this is mind boggling.

maybe if someone actually promoted createsecret properly and motivated the active users of these forums to submit secrets im sure they would do it. they did it for a while and i noticed that alot of people put effort into their secrets. Which means they must have enjoyed reading secrets and making them. ermm.gif

Admins don't like to be questioned. You aren't obligated to answer, despite common belief.

People Staff mod the Relationship forum -- not AskAlice, or Createblog -- so mods HAVE been assigned to that forum.

Their sole purpose are for their respective threads only.

Those two topics are actually being discussed backstage right now.

People Staff mods the Community Center, which includes Relationships. AskAlice and CreateSecret were just side projects--you shouldn't take either of them so seriously.

Design Staff mods the Resource Center, everything not related to Community Center.

Well, as both superficial and agiri have pointed out, all People Staff, Head Staff and Administrators have modding abilities in the Relationship Forum. I'm not entirely sure what you mean by "proper". Is there something specific about the way that forum is handled that troubles you?

Both AskAlice and createsecret are being looked at/discussed right now. I've brought this up recently Backstage and it's been brought up in Feedback before. Trust me, you're not the only one who has noticed that lack of participation and quite frankly, questioning the use of having them.

As I mentioned before, I think createsecret has potential. I'll be honest and say that I believe AskAlice needs a new face. (sorry)

edit - just read last response. The moderating team will be updated as soon as decision has been reached. Be patient. =)

^i really appreciate you all explaining the situation to me and although i'm still a little perplexed, you've managed to make me understand... somewhat, and i'm glad your looking into it.

I too really think ask ask alice needs a new face and yes, if someone put time and effort into create secret it could be a huge success.

edit: fell free to close, and thank you all for not just brushing it off. flowers.gif your all doing a great job.
