soooo i need advice because i know asian hair can be damned tricky. i wanna get a perm. i dont want to look like a poodle, though. I just want my hair to be wavy without having to put a curling iron to it every day. are there any asian chicks around here that have gotten a body wave perm? if so, how was the condition of your hair afterwards?

My hair was soooo hard to perm. She had to use around 3 bottles of chemicals, which is actually a lot. And she used the biggest curlers possible, if you use the small ones, you're going to get tighter curls which won't probably look as good. Like you said, I didn't want to look like a poodle. Unfortunately it got really untangled around 9 months later when my hair got longer, so I ended up cutting it all off. MMmm let's see...it was actually kind of hard to manage at first. You seriously get hair all over the place. I usually had to dampen my hair first and spray it with a hairspray or run mousse through it to make it look good. If it didn't, it just looked like a mass of nasty looking waves. Well, I suppose it wasn't that bad.

This was around 5 months into the perm?

Half a year later..

Condition after the perm- lol my hair was absolutely fried. I wanted to reperm over it, but I think my hair would just fall out cause it was sooo damaged so I just cut off the whole thing :/ I guess I didn't take much care of it. I was supposed to use this specific curling creme the lady gave me, but I thought hairspray was just easier ahah. Plus they make special shampoos for permed hair, and I totally didn't look into that. But yeah, when all my hair grows out, I'll be damaging my hair again! Woot.

i use a protein treatment with a moisture lock on top of that for my hair so i can keep it pretty healthy. i think im just gonna try it and see what happens. hair grows, so nothing is totally permanent i guess.

Trishhhhhhhhhhh ~<3
I got it this past August~ And at first it was like... really up tight and i was freaking out like mad, but after a while, the hair starts to loosen up and it becomes the fancy asian hair.
They said not to comb it or whatever after the shower or in general. the ends got damaged i guess buut that is expected.

But for me to get the look i really had to thin my hair, so my layers were crazy and sometimes really short. It was a fun time to have it, and i think it would look gorgeous on you!!

It died after about 7~8 months but I ended up getting a really big culrling iron, like 1~1.5 inch ones.

I hate the perm smellllll

hmm, one of my asian friends gets a body wave perm every once in a while and right after she gets it, it does look a little fried and poodle-y, but after a couple of months it looked nice and silky again. so it's good that you use a protein treatment to keep your hair as healthy as possible.
