As soon as I finish the layout and such, you know...
So, this is what I've got so far...
Oh, and this one is a little resized... the real one is 1000x800, but somehow in the process of uploading it, it resized itself. Thanks imageshack!



I'm really looking for some constructive criticism on this one... the two kinda translucent boxes are gonna be the nav/main content areas but without the boxes there, if that makes sense... I didn't really plan on giving it a background, I figured transparent would look best.

Anyways, any ideas are welcome.... To me, this kindof a rough copy... but I'm having a bit of a artistic brain freeze... figures... lol

i don't really like the pinkish lines going across her head, it's part of a texture right?
i like the colors but not the font . for me it just doesn't seem to...fit. >.<;
but that's it. :D i like the rest

Yeah, I know what you mean about the font... it was a very quick pick, just to know where I was going to put the wording...

And yes, the pinkish lines/boxish things are apart of the texture... I fixed that already, but didn't reupload and update the original post with all that jazz.

I agree with the head/texture thing, so it's good you fixed it.
As for the font, maybe something a little more script or flowy?

Other than that, I think it looks really good.
I think you should leave the translucent boxes though, to give the content a bit of a border.
I love the colors & textures.

I think image mapping or rollovers would be better then just a plane nav

You know... I agree, Drama. I was gonna do the cheap way for some really unknown reason, but image mapping would be much, much better.

I still don't like the fonts. They look so heavy...which I guess does kind of make sense, with the darker color scheme and "No Lies..."

I guess with the main beigeish color (is that what that is? I'm not good with colors) your navigation font just doesn't look right. As for the graphic itself, I like. C=

I suck when it comes to fonts... I try to avoid them the best I can, but when making a website... well, you know...

The navigation is bothering the shit out of me... I can't pick like a nice blue or something because then it looks even more way off... As for the "No Lies, Just Love," I was trying to make a point to have it stand out, since it's the name of my entire website...

Go with a simple font. That's what i usually do. A script font, or a big delicate font. I use Dafont.com, because of it's nice organization, haha.

Everything else looks nice, though.

I think your spacing is a bit off.

I'd have just placed the content box right under the main text, and overlayed the text to the left of the box near the fan.

The black stands out too much since the rest of the layout is pretty subtle.

I'd suggest making the lines of the content box the same way you made the lines coming from the left.

I find this to be a little confusing... but I think after reading it a couple times I get what you mean... I hadn't really thought about that before, but it does look a little off, you're right... I'm gonna try that and send you a picture to see if I understand correctly... :P

I'm 100% okay with that, mostly because it's completely irrelevant to a song title... but either way, since when did Bright Eyes patent the phrase 'No Lies, Just Love'??
