what is the differences/advantages to using a subdomain (music.mysite.com) rather than just having a slash and the page name (mysite.com/music) (what is it called when you use the slash?) responses appreciated. thanks!

Subs give off a more professional appearance than directories (the slash thing). But I suggest buying a top level domain name (www.mysite.com), its the most professional way to do it, and it will get you more hits. |

If you're going to use pages, just upload it onto your server. There's honestly no need for you to create a directory for it or a subdomain. Subdomains are usually only used for a separate website. It's much easier to edit your header (if you use PHP, that is) if you just put your webpages in one folder with the header in there too. I suggest just putting all your webpages in one folder (your www, public_html, wherever you put your index of your website at).

If you create a new folder in your directory, it can work as mysite.com/folder. However, if you make a subdomain, it can also work as mysite.com/subdomain - at least in my case it does. Since some people don't like the .htm or .php extension on their pages, they can create separate folders for them.
