So it doesn't take a brain surgeon to realize that I've pretty much f**ked up my life by not having enough patience to stick with a job for longer than a year. If I could go back, I'd still be working for lifescript because they had GREAT benefits. But no, I decided to take the first offer of a bigger paycheck that came my way.

I was looking back at old blogs from sweetvertigo.com and I realized what an idiot I am.
QUOTE
April 4th, 2007: I Hate Yellow

If i have to create another yellow design for work, I will literally vomit in my boss’ face. I usually love yellow. In moderation. I have a lot of yellow shirts. Yellow is in right now. But yellow as a background for a website? No. I dont fancy getting sued for giving someone an epileptic seizure.

Of course my boss doesnt respect my opinion. Because hes an a-hole. Wait, no, thats not right. He’s a perky a-hole. He can be totally disrespectful, but happy and nice at the same time. And that makes it all the more infuriating. At least with a boss that just yells at you all the time, you can take comfort in the fact that if you tell them something and they yell back, they would have had to actually be listening to you in the first place. With my boss its like talking to a brick wall. A happy yellow brick wall that smiles and nods and completely just ignores anything you say or, even worse, patronizes you.

This job is pissing me off more and more each day. First he reels me in by saying I wont have to deal with customer support anymore, because that’s pretty much half of what i did everyday at my old job at iCella. But no. I still have to deal with customer support everyday. So he lied. He says I’ll be working with another designer at my side. Cool! I have someone to split the work with. Guess what, guys? That designer submitted his letter of resignation the day I started.

I know what you’re all thinking. It was me. I drove the designer away because I’m such a pushy bitch. No, no, no. Rick and I are the best of friends. We talk all the time online, and rant about how this job is so much bullshit. He left because he finally couldnt take it anymore. And now he’s an angry, bitter, mexican guy that screens his calls because he doesnt want anything to do with the company anymore. Is that going to be me in a year? He actually HAS patience. I know, because since I received absolutely no training before he left, I’ve had to ask him a million questions via emails and AIM about different protocols. So he has to have a lot of patience. But me? I have none at all. Between not getting paid the correct hourly rate for working overtime, to dealing with a boss that literally has sunshine up his ass, how long before I get fed up with the crap?

This was two jobs ago. I'm realizing now that it wouldn't be called a job if you loved every aspect of it. It's why you get paid for it.

What are some things you hate about your job or your past jobs? Is it enough to make you want to quit?

I couldn't quit even if I wanted to. Truthfully, I detest my job and the politics involved. The people I currently work with/for don't deserve my respect, and I don't take well to being patronized and condescended to. This certainly isn't where I saw my life going, and I'm not making nearly enough money to work with war-planners, and my life is worth more than the 20 grand I'll get from Iraq. Being a Marine has filled with a feeling of inexplicable pride and self-worth, but the environment, the people and the chains of command I've worked for have done very well to destroy that.

This is why I'm pushing to have my site, so I can rant and rave about my love for hiphop and the urban culture that has made me who I am today. Instead of finding sites, online magazines and forums that I can relate to, I'd rather start my own and discuss what it is I want to discuss. Coupled with the joy and accomplishment I feel after writing (blog, poem, short story, etc), its right up my alley. I'm set in knowing that I want to pursue this in life.

Until then, I'll stack my ends. /rant

I'll never go back to a minimum wage job, even if I did it for fun or some sort of discount. I'm too overqualified and I have way too much pride.

I hate my manager, he's stuck on wanting to be a teenager again and going back to high school, and getting high with his old friends, and skipping school...all the way in california. I wish he would just grow up and learn that hes a manager and get some freaking leadership skills. I'm getting sick of bossing him around.

Its not enough for me to quit, because when ever I turn 18 and if I'm still around, I get to take his position :]

The only thing I hate about my job is that some days it makes me really cranky. I guess dealing with little kids can get to your head. Otherwise even though I complain I love my job. It fits me , for now.

Trish you can come work with me! They want people over 18!
(This is the point where she starts laughing and goes "yea right toya")

Gah. I'm hopefully getting past these minimum wage jobs in the next year.

Food industry - yuck. I did it for awhile and it was certainly interesting. In retail now...I really love some parts but definitely hate others, so yeah.

I love my job. I work in a well known retail outlet in the UK; although I'm on minimum wage and only part time during my uni course, I like what I do. Sometimes you get complete dickwads asking the most ridiculous questions or customers that see a 19 year old girl as a viable target for irk at the company, but that doesn't happen all that often.

In all honesty, I've had several jobs that I loved, but while doing those jobs there was always something about them I hated. In retrospect, working at the shoe store was one of my most memorable and fun experiences, but at the time I dreaded going to work because I hated my boss. It was great as soon as he left.

This job (the one I'm sitting at right this minute) is great, but I hate being a part of this AND being a music major. The music department gets majorly shafted by computer services - the labs aren't even supported by our techs, and the faculty computers NEVER get replaced. It sucks when I get a call from someone who knows me and there's nothing I can do for them because my boss is like "No they don't get this."

My workplace is filled with mostly white people and it seems they just hate my guts, which is fine with me because I'm just trying to get paid; not win a popularity contest. Even my supervisors and managers do shit to try to get me to either quit or get fired. Also, as long I got braces and go to school, I'm there to stay since the company pays for it. Love the benefits.

Thank you for calling Germain BMW how may i direct your call?

I have a new job as a receptionist at Germain bmw. I think i said that ^ about 200 times today literally. (and that was on a slow day).
I get paid 11.50 an hour and i'm doing about 60 hours a week.

Today was my first day and it was good i suppose, but you never really know until you've been there a good solid month or two. I already know who slept with who, and who's cheating on who with who, from who got a BJ in a car last month, to who smokes the dope and snorts the coke. Its mayhem. The way i see it its a good environment to work in; when you don't know the REAL shit that goes on. stubborn.gif

I have to come up with 3k by next month for tuition or the dreaded happens and i have to call grandma and kinda beg for it.

I cant tell whether i love it, hate it, or im just torn in between the two. ermm.gif

*cough*

I've been fortunate in most of my job situations. When I go to interviews, I don't put on any type of front so they know exactly what type of person they would be hiring. That's helped because I think that chemistry between co-workers is so important.

The only recurring theme of dissatisfaction in my employment history has been compensation. Not just salary, but benefits, perks, time off, etc.

I HATE my job. The reason I don't like it is because I work everyday, outside, rain or shine or tornado. Plus, I work for my family, so I can't bitch about my boss and when my boss has a problem with me they make it very personal. I hate being a farm kid. Seriously, people tell me how cool it would be to be in my position. But I get up and do chores before I go to school and afterwards, so I don't have much time to hang out with my friends. The pay is crap, too. The only thing that I like about it is that I get to be up and move around, I could never sit at a desk and work. Being a farm kid keeps me in shape without having to workout, lol.

Yellow background? 0__0 How bright was the yellow color? O__O

Hmm.. right now I hate my job as receptionist -__-;; At my dad's office. Because I for one, don't like just sitting on the chair doing computer and not going outside or move around a lot. I like moving around a lot!! I don't like just staying in one spot T__T;; That's why I love to work at clothing stores and restaurant. I'm getting as many as applications as I can!! Hopefully I will get accepted to work there! Omg I was rejected by Urban Outfitters (Oh wells they are picky with styles and I'm not one of their styles so yeah >__<) and Bath & Body Works :( I missed one question cause I really suck at "differences" questions >__<;;

I used to be a manager at a movie theatre. As you can imagine, it sucked. Sure we got free movies but really, would you go to where you work on your free time? I saved up a little cash so I could quit and concentrate more on school. But now my funds are starting to decrease, so I may apply part-time at Mitsuwa, a japanese supermarket. I have a feeling I will miss all the free time after classes if I do get the job. _unsure.gif

I hate that I have to wake up early every day.
I hate taking the train.
I hate dressing up for meetings and talking with clients.
I hate when clients complain.
I hate having responsibilities and deadlines.
I hate that the work is mostly boring.
I hate sitting in my cube on a nice day.

Honestly, I don't hate my job. It's routine and pretense that I hate. And I hate anything that doesn't allow me to be completely free.

But its not enough for me to quit because I love the people I work with and that's mainly what's keeping me here. And it's actually more a laid back atmosphere than other design firms in the area. I mean, I can get away with rocking nike kicks, purple jeans, pink hair, and wear my tatts and piercings in all their glory and not get chastised for it! And there are great benefits. Like company paid happy hours on fridays! Not to mention my supervisor is hot. So I'll stay... at least until I finally decide where to move or if I find a way to survive as a vagabond instead.
