I keep on seeing these adds on tv for tasers, which have women talking about how they could save your life. Now as a guy I find these useless for guys and girls. I sure many of you have the same opinion as me, so I made this poll to see how many actually buy these items.

I watched a drunken idiot get tasered at the Mardi Gras parade I went to Sunday.

It won't save your life.
The moment they stopped tasing him he struggled again.
They had to tase 3 times.

Personally, I don't think people shouldn't have tasers.
I know alot of people who are extremely imature and I'm sure there would be jackasses out there just tasing people because it's "funny".

But i would humor the idea because some guys [and girls] do deserve to get the crap shocked out of them.

I find the area I live in to be very safe - I have always believed I can take care of myself if the worst should happen.

but say you do use it and it doesn't work because you miss or something. then they're just more mad at you and the problem is bigger.

i don't think these can really save you. You will prolly try to run 1st before pulling out mace.

I could see pepper spray coming in handy if you had to do the "stun and run" option. I live on a campus downtown, so the area I'm in is not very good.

i've had a taser (and mace) for years. if you want defense so much, go and figure out how you want it instead of watching commercials that could be misleading.

i always have a knife or something damaging on hand.

I never really bring anything as self-defense. The only thing that I carry (but not for self-defense, but can still cause damage I guess) would be my keys. Which can cause great damage if used appropriately. :T And I'm always with someone, so there's no need to need as much weapons.

Tasers are fairly effective but if you read about them it will tell you they are to surprise the assailant first giving you an oppurtunity to escape. Or if you prefer violence you can up the wattage. thumbsup.gif
Me, I practice Muay Thai, Brazilian Ju Jitsu and Pancracia. And I oppose weapons of the modern era. laugh.gif Thats just me

I don't bring anything with me for self-defense. Although, I have Mace. But I don't carry it with me. I think I'm strong enough. D:

I don't carry anything, but I think I'd be okay with defending myself.
Mace > Tasers, IMO.

I have a friend who used to carry a screwdriver in her purse because we walk around outside a lot.

Based on my natural level of extreme violence, and the kick boxing class I recently signed up for -- I think I'm covered.

I don't carry around any sort of weapon. But i wish i knew some really cool martial arts.
However, if you're just walking around with your handbag full of girl stuff, i think something in there could do some serious damage! Have you seen Red Eye? Carry around a pen, folks, and you'll be all right

I don't carry any of those things, but if I'm going to an area I'm not familiar with for the first time, I sometimes bring a weapon with me.

I would rather learn self defense, like karate or something, because by the time you try to take out your pepper spray or whatever, you could already be kidnapped or something. _unsure.gif

^ Learning self-defense is the best option. Whenever I'm walking around on my campus at night, I feel pretty secure. But, when I'm going to my car, I stick my key inbetween my finger to add a little more sting to my punch.

I don't carry anything, because of security when you go places. It's dumb, people are always telling people to protect themselves, but then when you do you're carry a weapon and are getting arrested.

I'm a farm kid, so a lot of the time I have a knife on me, but I don't think I'm rape material, lol. Knowing where I live, I should probably learn some better self defense.

I have a rape whistle, but I think it's kind of stupid and useless. I learned in psychology that people usually won't do anything during a crisis/emergency unless they see someone else lend a hand first. There were a bunch of examples of girls screaming for their lives in a neighbourhood while they were getting raped, and nobody did anything even though they heard them. Stupid bystander effect.
