I left my house 2 days ago with my computer in perfect working order and it was working fine earlier today, but when I got home an hour ago my fiance said he couldn't figure out how to turn it back on.
I don't know how it got turned off, but I know my dog was by it.
He didn't pee on it and I have checked the power cord and it is still in good working order but my computer just won't turn on.
I have programs and files on that computer that I need, is there any way I can make it work again?

unplug and replug everything, if you have extra peripherals (usb mic, cam, mouse, etc) it would be wise to leave them unplugged. Basically, unplug everything except for your power cord and monitor. If it still won't turn on, try unplugging the monitor and turning the computer on. If it does turn on, identify the thing that prevents your computer from turning on, trial and error method. Then get rid of it.

If you really have to, I suppose you can remove the hard drive, buy a new computer, and install your old hard drive into the new computer to access the files.

I have a Gamecube and I had a wildcat controller thing that worked fine for a few months, but after a while, my Gamecube would not turn on with the controller plugged in.

Good luck.

Oh and if it's a mac, I'm not sure how to take out the harddrive. You can ask the apple store about that.
