ok..
Lately, the only myspace layouts that are being submitted are divs. While divs are cool, most myspace users do not know how to use them.

In the past, I have had trouble finding a good layout on CB that wasn't a div. The standard layouts that are on here have tons of pictures and lame quotes pastered all over them. If I did find a cool standard layout, I couldn't use it because it has some stupid quote or annoying network banner. And the creator of the layout is all like "You may not change ANY of the code or I will sue you!", so I can't even remove the network banner without getting introuble.

Some people like their myspace to be simple, but it seems that the layout standards at CB are too high to let in any simple (not plain) layouts.

I have submitted 2 standard layouts in the past that were rejected because they were "too simple". The person who rejected them said I should make a network banner, a contact table, and add more detail into it. Well if you add a network banner, then it takes away the simpleness of the layout. There IS a catagory for "Minimal" layouts.

With all these super detailed divs being made, it seems like the staff is expecting all layouts to be super detailed. If CB wants to be a site that only has mega-detailed divs, then good job, cause the site is already the best for divs. But it seems like the site is really lacking standard layouts.

Anyone agree with me? No one take this the wrong way, please.

cB standards are actually a lot lower than they used to be. Seriously I go through the queue and honestly the reason we have so many standard layouts with quotes is because all the rest of the standard layouts suck really badly. Putting them on cB only makes cB look like an crummy site. No offense but all of you guys that complain about standards seem to think we get some really good standard layouts, and to tell you the truth we don't. The only reason there are more DIVS than standards is because most of the DIV layouts are made in a higher quality standard, and are made good enough to be accepted. We reject tons of divs too.

Also we've been through this so many times. I feel redundant. If you guys want to see more standard layouts, you should submit higher quality standard layouts. If you want a plain layout with just colors, you guys can make those yourself in five minutes. We shouldn't have to accept extremely low quality layouts because you want to see more of them. Yes what the public eye wants to see is a good reason to do so , but we also have standards to uphold ourselves.

Contact table, extended networks, etc are an example of what you can do. Not what you have to do. Seriously if you guys add more color, patterns, backgrounds things that match together. We wouldn't have to reject your layouts . Also you can add a plain contact table or extended network and still have a minimal design.

I just looked at your rejected layouts. All the last one is , is a default layout with a background. Many times the staff went over the issue to accept just normal blue/orange default table layouts. We decided not too unless they added more to it. And honestly, that's way to minimal and I don't see a reason to accept it at all. Also considering that the background wasn't made by you, and the fact the colors could also match better together, it doesn't seem like a layout that should of been accepted. Whether or not it was because of it's simplicity.

When we review layouts we like to see what a person put in to it. If you just grabbed a photobucket background. Threw it on a default myspace and submitted it to us, seriously that shows us nothing at all. While other's try really hard.

I'm not against accepting standard layouts, but I try finding the ones that match well together whether they are simplistic or not. Effort, style, etc all play a role in it. I'm sorry but if you want more default layouts like the plain orange, and blue. Use google.

It is not the default blue and orange. They are different colors then the deafult myspace. I used those 2 colors because they are colors in the background.

And I also did stuff with the tables. So it is not just a default layout with a background.

There's almost a thousand regular Myspace Layouts. I think that's a pretty good selection for people who want a regular myspace layout.

Even though there are a lot of people who aren't very good with HTML and CSS they usually know how to change the background on a regular layout. There's millions of patterns out there, so if we accepted regular layouts with just a background pattern we'd have people complaining that it's all the site has. I think the standards are fine, there's even been talk of making the bar higher.

Seriously I used your layout as an example because you mentioned it. I saw what you did and I gave a quick critique on it if you want me to get into more detail I can. But I think thats against the point.

I agree with Dee as well. :)

i believe the word I used is "basic" which is a totally different word than "simple" or "minimalistic."

we have 200 layouts just like this with different backgrounds. sorry, but at this point it's just not enough to throw a background on the default coding and then change a FEW borders and fonts.

its not even like....neat. the colors that you DID change dont match...

a little extra effort is required if you want to get a standard layout accepted these days. sorry.
