Tampons vs. Pads

I am here to convince you that TAMPONS WILL MAKE YOUR LIFE 100000000X BETTER when you are on your period.

Girls, there is nothing to be afraid of. If you use a tampon properly for less than 8 hours (or whatever your brand of tampons recommends) you will be FINE.

Tampons DO fit comfortably (you should not be able to feel them while you are wearing them). If you do feel discomfort, it is not in far enough. There are specific instructions as to how far inside it should be.

Tampons are much better than wearing female diapers, especially for sports. Sweat + pads = messy ew-iness.

I recommend Playtex Gentle Glide for beginners. They are comfortable and do not hurt as much as Tampax Pearl when you pull them out (although I do admit the Pearl ones do not leak as much). Wearing tampons with a thin pantyliner is the way to go!

What are pads good for? For when you're sleeping more than 6 hours. Wearing tampons during the day and a pad during the night (when you're sleeping) is the way to go! :]

Plus tampons are easier to hide. >_>

Tampons are awsome <3
You don't feel them, but you don't have to be scared that theyll get lost inside you or something.

I hate the feeling of wearing a pad. It's like a diaper, so annoying. It makes me feel unclean, and it smells overtime. Ew.

I'd have to say tampons. I used to use pads about.. two months ago? But tampons are much easier to use, and are wayyyyyy more convinient.

My mom never really wanted me wearing tampons when I first started. But pads are seriously disgusting. Tampons dont last that long for me, so I usually wear and tampon and a pad, because Im always nervous Im going to leak.

At first, I kinda freaked out about wearing tampons, the first few times I could kinda feel it, and it slipped out a little.
About the third time, it was pretty comfortable.

Dont use the big tampons to start out, because I didnt know about the different sizes, so I used a bigger one, and I thought I would never wear tampons again. But I tried the small ones and they work good. Even though they dont last the long.

I use a pad.
I will eventually use Tampons when I get my money. I hate pads because you leak and it's embarassing.

Pads. My reason why is that I used to use Tampons alot, and change them regularly but one time I started getting headaches and got really dizzy. I was afraid that it had to do with the tampon and when I switched to a pad [the same moment I began getting these symptoms] the headaches and dizziness went away. Yes you have to change it every few hours but the hole can't be blocked for hours on end even if you are changing tampons. I suggest that if you are going to use tampons to still use a pad at least at night to give the vagina time to breath. [I hope no one finds this comment revolting. Just trying to help]

Plus if you change your pad every two to three hours you won't leak. Pads have to be changed as regulary as a tampon.

ohmygosh, i just started using tampsons like in june.
but i've been trying to put them in since september -_-

but tampons are SOOOOOOOOOO much easier on you. it feels like you're not even on your period, unless you're moody and stuff like that.
but seriously. i love them.

^No. Tampons arent uncomfortable AT ALL. You can bearly feel them through out your day. As opposed to pads, you can feel it as you get up, or sometimes walk, or even move around. I found a new love for tampons two months ago throb.gif

yeah dude when i first tried to put a tampon in [[call me weird and stupid..but i forgot to take the applicator out]]
*is embarrassed right now*
but after i noticed how uncomfortable that felt. i realized that wasn't suppose to stay in.
[[this didn't even last 5 minutes..just in case you were thinking i was walking around all day with the applicator in]]
but the first couple of times putting a tampon in may be confusing // hard.
but trust me; they are MUCH easier.
but i know also that instead of having to change in the middle of the day. like in school or whatever. cause i know some tampons recommend only like 4-6 hours of usage.
then wearing a tampon and a pad may be really helpful.

tampons ya just gotta get used to.
and besides- with pads. it gets all over the pubic hair too
[[sorry if im making this uncomfortable]]
at least it does for me though.
so with a tampon at least it doesn't leave the vagina.
[[again; sorry if im being uncomfortable]]

i just dont want to refer to my pubic hair as the "furry stuff"
or my vagina as the "you know what"
too middle school for me.

Oh, me too. I've only used a tampon twice, and I'm sure with more use I'd eventually get used to it and begin to prefer it buuuut the second time sprouted a panic attack that I am not willing to risk repeating. I'll use a tampon if I have to, like if I'm going swimming, but otherwise, pads are for me.

Buuut I don't want to scare anyone into being like "OMG what went wrong with you MUSSST go wrong with me i don't want to try ittttttt". Because really, what went "wrong" was my fault, I'm just being paranoid more. Even though I prefer pads, I do encourage to at least give tampons a try. (:

Pads - hands (or bottoms tongue.gif) down.

Tampons are insanely uncomfortable the first few times you use them. There's also the scare of TSS (Toxic Shock Syndrome) although that's quite rare. Once you've used tampons a few times, your body adjusts to the intrusion and they can in fact be very useful and pretty comfortable.

lol you make it sound so bad like you're going to hell it.
you're suppose to use little baby ones like O.B

[a lot smaller than that] then gradually go to regular ones and it won't hurt as much.
i hate the feeling a pad would give. it's like rolling around in your blood

i've only tried a tampon once (tampax pearl) and while it was easier to use, it hurt the entire time that i had it in. and i had to frequently check if it was still in place; i was paranoid that it would slip out or something.

i'll probably try playtex gentle glide next time.

Definitely tampons. They are SO comfortable. Although tampons are sometimes quite difficult to use if you're a virgin. My friends can never get them in. ><

I feel uncomfortable in pads especially at night. Or when I sit for a while then get up! It rushes. Eww. pinch.gif

Not true!!

If you do try the tampon for the first time though... make sure that:
a) you don't leave the applicator in xD
b) you change it when it's FULL or close to full... otherwise pulling it out doesn't feel so great.

ooh haha I just read this:

ehhh... it took me like two minutes of walking around to realize it wasn't right but I still didnt know what I did wrong (instructions are so overrated). then i gave up and tried again 1 yrs later, read the instructions, and finally found out what i did wrong blush.gif

I use tampons and pads at school, so i wont have to worry if I can't change it in time, and at home, I chill with just a tampon.
I prefer tampons completely.
and I understand if you've heard stories.
I mean, yeah, there are risks.
but, overall, tampons are SOOOO much more comfortable if used properly

Used tampons since i got my 2nd period aged 13, scary at first
but if you relax you cant even feel it.
TAMPONS all the way, except night time.
stop feeling weird about tampons.
would you rather,, feel weird about using a tampon once orr feel dirty all the time by using a pad??
logic :)

Tampons all the way. Although I don't really mind pads, but when I'm sleeping, I use tampons. I really don't like that feeling when you get up and worry about getting your sheets ruined.

Tampons.

Pads are icky. I say amen to the original poster! They should not hurt when you're wearing them! You're doing it wrong if they do.

^ tampons are inserted into the vagina with a string hanging out so that you can pull it out. A pad has a adhesive strip that sticks to your underwear to absorb the blood. They both are made with cotton for absorbency

Which one is better to use though? I hear alot of women talking about pads so I guess they must be the safer choice no?

BUT NASTIER. They reek after a few hours. They all smell poorly, but at least I don't have to make other people suffer with a tampon.

I'll take a tampon any day. The mess is easier to clean up.

TSS is a very rare disease that occurs only if the tampon is left in for more than eight hours. As long as you change yours every four to six hours or so, you'll be fine.

Javonn, you did not just compare your irritability to the woman's period.

A period in which women have to consistently shove rolls of cotton up their vaginas and deal with the stench and the clean-up afterward. Not to mention the fact that ovulating gives us cramps and a sore chest, and we're expected to deal with it as if it's something worthy of celebrating when we all really just want to shoot someone's head off.

IT'S NOT SO COMPARABLE.

Hm. Males do have "periods" as they have hormones (3 I think? Anatomy seems so long ago) that go through cycles, too. The thing is, Women have MORE hormones to deal with and the rise/fall of those certain hormones lead to all the disgusting shit that MissHygienic mentioned above, so our pain is quadruple your pain.

Thus, I have no sympathy for the so-called "male periods."
