I like Saosin :) They're pretty much alternative rock/post-hardcore. You should check em out.
Techno? Try 'The Medic Droid'. They're techno/powerpop/rock. |

a couple of my all time favorites are:
dream theater (i'd suggest checking out their myspace first, then search some songs- Space-Dye Vest, Vacant...) framing hanley- one word, amazing. a mix of a lot of things but if you like rockish stuff you'll defenitely like them. i really suggest listening to Built for Sin and 23 Days. you can find them on purevolume.com. also, anberlin. can also find them on purevolume. i'm not sure you'll like this one, but Secondhand Serenade is always a good acoustic band with a rock background feel. :] |

Youtube songs such as glass prison, endless sacrifice, in the name of god, or fatal tragedy. Also if you're into Dream Theater, check out Liquid Tension Experiment. It's a side project with a few Dream Theater members (guitar/drums), all instrumental, and it's pretty interesting to listen to. Songs such as Acid Rock, Paradigm Shift, or Universal Mind. |

All good tunes. |

Well, they're not all alternative but they're great bands. A lot of those bands aren't bands anymore, hah. I - Barenaked Ladies - Augustana - Eve 6 - The Click Five - Alice In Chains - Anberlin - Marcy Playground - Hellogoodbye :33 There's some good suggestions in this thread. I don't think I can really add much. |

[edit] OH. for the original poster, here's a few more. :] a bit of Silverchair can't harm. also, Sick Puppies, incase you haven't heard their entire album. Sugarcult is always good, too. but for a kinda-rockish band, look into Rush of Fools. |

The Misfits - with Glen Danzig are GREAT. New Misfits is f**king lame so if you want to check them out everything pre-1983 is FANTASTIC.
Boys Night Out - their first 2 albums(Broken Bones and Bloody Kisses and Make Yourself Sick) are really good and they put on a really fun show. Brand New - good, but I am sure you have heard them. CAKE Death Cab for Cutie's first two albums (You Can Play These Songs With Chords and Something About Airplanes) are phenomenal, I don't really care for their new music too much. GlassJAw - Worship and Tribute Incubus - Morning View and Make Yourself Maps and Atlases - they are CRAZY good guitarists. It is a bit of an acquired taste, though. NOFX - They are more of a punk band, but that's alternative to some people. Every song on every album is good. RadioHead - I love them. In Rainbows was alright but everything before that was good ESPECIALLY OK Computer and Kid A The Postal Service. Saves The Day - my guilty pleasure band. Through being cool is a really good album. The Shins - My favorite band as of recently. They are amazing and they will change your life. Sublime - Everyone says they are a fan of Sublime, but I highly suggest buying all their albums and not just listening to the mainstream songs. Sublime is so famous for some of their worst songs, in my opinion. Weezer - Blue Album The following bands are more ska, but you might still enjoy them. I know I do. Catch 22 - Keasbey Nights Streetlight Manifesto - This is the original lead singer of Catch 22's new band. They re-did Keasbey Nights very well and they have another album Somewhere In Between The Mighty Mighty Bosstones Choking Victim - More of a punk/ska, but I love them Reel Big Fish - Turn the Radio Off RX Bandits - BEST LIVE BAND EVER. They really mean everything they sing and you can tell when you see them live. Leftover Crack - Another punk/ska band. They sound kind of like choking victim, actually. |

I've been getting into them. purevolume you can look up those kind of alternative bands and sometimes they'll let you download their stuff. If not you can make your own playlist if you sign up and everything. I'm not going to mention anything illegal on here. lol |

Did you make sure to listen to Early Misfits? If you like new Misfits, that's cool for you, but it makes you an abomination in my opinion.
Streetlight Manifesto is REALLY good, you will really like Catch 22's early stuff if you liked them. |

You can tell a difference in the voices. 138 and Static Age are old Misfits. I have never heard the other song so I am left to assume it's new.
See, old misfits was headed by a wonderful douchebag by the name of Glenn Danzig. New Misfits is headed by Jerry Only who legally stole the Misfits from Danzig. Danzig has had 2 bands since then but he deserves to own the Misfits since he drew the shit and wrote the songs. |

They are a lot heavier than the Misfits. He had another band, Samhein, but they didn't do a lot.

Try:
-Evans Blue -Three Days Grace -The Classic Crime -Blaqk Audio -30 Seconds To Mars -and you might like Candelbox, though they're a little more grunge. |
