It depends on the person. Whether or not birthdays mean anything to the person, or whether or not the person had good plans for the upcoming year.
Seeing a person pass away is sad in general. I don't think I could classify either one as "sadder." |

*Seeing* a person pass away PERIOD. I worked in an ER for a year, pretty depressing stuff.
My grandmother died the day after Christmas (not this year, several years ago) and that was horrible. |

In my opinion, the impact is much more saddening if it occured on a person's birthday.

It'll be sad no matter what day of the year it is.. though I think it's the slightest bit worse when it's on their birthday.
