It depends on the person. Whether or not birthdays mean anything to the person, or whether or not the person had good plans for the upcoming year.

Seeing a person pass away is sad in general. I don't think I could classify either one as "sadder."

*Seeing* a person pass away PERIOD. I worked in an ER for a year, pretty depressing stuff.

My grandmother died the day after Christmas (not this year, several years ago) and that was horrible.

Precisely death in general is sad so according to me neither is sadder too.

In my opinion, the impact is much more saddening if it occured on a person's birthday.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. Regardless of the day, it's still sad.

It'll be sad no matter what day of the year it is.. though I think it's the slightest bit worse when it's on their birthday.
