If you're not intolerably depressed, you don't need medication. That's just it. Is this about the boy problem? Don't take medication for this crap. Go out, exercise, find something to get your adrenaline running and you'll be fine.

this was recent. it's completely unreasonable to begin taking medication so quickly.
you're only wholly lonely if you make yourself that way. try for some friends. |

You're taking this way out of proportion. Yeah, sure it feels really lonely being an only child and not really doing any sports. (Yeah, I've been there.) But you've got to learn to do things that you like doing and try new things. There's no time for moping around and thinking about medication at this point. Go out and have fun.
EDIT// Well, yeah, all my friends aren't all together during Christmas, too. I don't blame your boyfriend for needing to have some space. It's not like you can spend all of his time with him. It's just the holidays. You're not going to die of loneliness for two weeks. |

You're being entirely melodramatic about this whole thing to the point of irrationality. Granted, I know you're 17 and you're likely infatuated with this boy, and you likely won't even heed anyone's advice here, but I think someone needs to tell you, at least. You do not need medication. I don't care that you're an only child and you don't know how else to occupy your time, medicine is not your answer. It will not be your answer until it is too traumatic for you to take. A little tear here and heartache there? Doesn't cut it, sweetie.

He's a guy! He has friends!
I am sorry you two broke up, but if your were always this crazy about it I can see why. You need to chill. Everything will be okay, you will be okay, even if he doesn't come back you will live. It feels like you won't ever be happy again, but you will. HEY! To get your mind off of him you could re enroll in school and graduate. That way you'd meet more boys and make more friends. |

General Educational Development.
It is what you get in place of a diploma. But, their are lots of medication for depression. I just don't think you are depressed. IF you really think you are go see a counselor and they will assure you that you are just upset about a breakup. |

IMO, pills for depression only make you worse. I wouldn't even think about going there.
I've never been depressed. In fact, I'm very rarely sad. Chocolate, family, exercise and a comedy sketch on TV usually dispell any gloomy thoughts. You've just got to think positive. It's only a stage in your life and things will get better. Things are always alright in the end; if it's not alright it's not the end. |

When I am depressed or going through things, I take a Tylenol Extra Strength or and Excedrin Migraine. They seem to have some numbing quality that puts you into a zone for a few hours.

Clinical depression and post-breakup sadness are not the same thing. Never get the two mixed up. Sadness can lead to depression, yes, but if you were actually depressed you would feel much worse than you do now.

Then why are you getting so worked up and wanting to buy "happy pills?" Seems like you enjoy soaking up drama and then basking in it whenever you can.

There are plenty of guys out there in the sea... Seeing a psychiatrist is better than taking pills.

You're 17?
I agree with MissHygienic. You're taking it way too seriously. I, and I'm sure most others, know exactly what it's like to feel lonely. To tell someone they don't know what you're feeling is a complete insult. We've all gone through some sort of ordeal similiar to yours at least once. And frankly, thinking about medication and talking of your interest in it even though it can kill is stupid. So sports aren't your thing. Find something else. Get addicted. Whatever. Pick yourself back up and get over it. |

Guys are no reason to fret as for feeling lonely YOU ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO FEELS THAT WAY!!! and pills are NOT the way to go just go see a Psychologists. Here are a couple of ideas read a book series, go to the mall, Make graphics, and/or if you have a camera take some pictures to pass the time. Guess what I have a older sister and I always felt lonely when she was living with me.

follow everyone else advice. pills can make it worse, and why are you dating someone younger if you're still in highschool? my friend took pill for depression for about a good year or so. he said he had major side-effects like headaches, cramping, sluggishness, biopolar personalities etc, but he did seem a lot happier than before. as time passed by, he kept increasing his dosage and more problems started occuring.
i would ask your guidance counselor in school about your problem, and from there they could re-direct you to the school psycologist, and maybe if things are more than they can handle, they'll reccommend a doctor that you can see that will prescribe you pills, or maybe a real psycologist that you can set appointments with. help does cost money, and lots of it, so think it though. school is always free, so always go for that method first. but honestly, i don't think it's that big of a problem... if you can't handle a situation like this on your own, then you won't be prepared to what's going to hit you later on in life. |

Hmmm.. if you don't know anything about sports then it's time you get acquainted with it. How about music? There are so many productive things you can do and pills are definitely not the answer.
