I just finished reading a 10 page debate on it, and it was interesting, so i would like to hear what your views on it are.
I would like to keep this somewhat unviolent, so if you have something rude to say, please keep it to yourself. heres my story. I was a vegetarian for 11 months, im 13.[youngstfuz], and my body couldnt handle it. I kept getting sick week after week after week, and i was losing weight rapidly, and becoming unhealthy. Yes, i ate my green vegetables, and plenty of beans and rice milk for iron/protein, all that stuff. I dont know why, but i am slowly easing back into a meat diet, i try not to eat it alot, just enough to keep me alive and healthy. views/comments? |

You may have had to transition more slowly into a vegetarian diet than you did.
And you'll probably need more than rice milk for protein. Try eating more soy, tofu, etc. You might even have to keep track of the nutrients you're taking in for a while and make sure you take in everything you need to function. |

Can you explain your reasons?
because yeah, i still believe its wrong, even though i have gone back into a meat eating diet [slowly] and i will sound like a treehugger here, BUT eating animals does contribute to pollution, and global warming, etc. and why do you think so many americans and others are so overweight? eating meat was in the bible, yes. but does it say to kill cruelly, and inhumanely? meh. idk what else to say atm tbh x__x |

Okay, there are companies who kill animals in a humane way. It's not all torture and hell as what you see on PETA. It is in our nature to eat other mammals because it's a natural part of the food chain. Meat does not contribute to an unhealthy diet or obesity; it is mostly junk food and candies and soda that a lot of vegetarians consume as to compensate for their lack of meat. Eating meat isn't what's inflating our weight gain in America. Plus, I'm sure you don't know that the vegetables you eat grow on habitat lands which kills more animals than humans killing them.

It's the amount of fat and oil they consume. Sure, you can argue that meat has fat. But you need to think of the AMOUNT of meat they eat compared to everything else. Americans drink soda as if it were water. They eat chips as if there'd be no more chips the next day. THAT is why Americans are obese, due to the amount of "junk food" that they eat. Not because of meat in general. Get your facts straight. |

I have been talking about this a lot lately.
A really close friend of mine is vegetarian. I really respect that about him. I never saw the point because you being vegetarian or vegan is not going to stop people treating animals badly. It has always happened and it always will happen. The way I see it it's better to eat meat because then the animals didn't die in vain. But, I do not agree with treating animals badly. I once got into a fight with a guy because he picked up a kitty by it's ears. |

Well nowadays, like me on milk, [whole diff story] i only drink a certain kind because its from a family farm which i have visited, approved it, etc. And nowadays, the stuff they put in meat, like the shots of drugs so that the cows can have babies with their sisters/brothers/etc, its actually bad for you, and all that..
ehh and im not really a fan of vegetables from grocery stores anyways . i live in the country so i grow my own or get mine from the nearby farms ![]() |

@1angel3
Not at all, because the babies need meat to survive, because they are animals, and they dont have things like tofu burgers, or 'fake meat', and they need it to survive. On the other hand, us as humans, we dont need it to survive unless you had some weird condition freaky thing[like i did], you can go with tofu burgers, and the fake meat, etc. and tbh, it does taste the same, just no guilt ![]() |

Well in that case, most people can produce enough food to survive and live healthily without the consumption of meat, so... I agree, people can do what they want to do, so.... @1angel3 Not at all, because the babies need meat to survive, because they are animals, and they dont have things like tofu burgers, or 'fake meat', and they need it to survive. We're animals too. I tasted tofu and it doesn't taste the same. Well maybe because I'm not use to it but there is a differences. |

You really shouldn't just make things up. Overpopulation wouldn't just stop if people stopped eating meat. Either a) there'd still be enough other food to go around, or b) there'd have to be another much more major issue, that could probably be solved easily enough by starting to eat meat again. If you're that concerned about the population, become a big pro-choice advocate. Global warming? That's not even worth acknowledging. No one said anything about the bible, but regardless of all that, you've responding as though I said that becoming a vegetarian was pointless, and that's not what I said. Veganism is pretty pointless. I never saw the point because you being vegetarian or vegan is not going to stop people treating animals badly. It has always happened and it always will happen. The way I see it it's better to eat meat because then the animals didn't die in vain. But, I do not agree with treating animals badly. It's possible you moved into it too fast. Maybe you should of weaned yourself off of the meat slowly instead of quitting cold turkey.
Also, if you're a vegetarian, you should definitely take vitamins to supplement what you're missing. Sometimes alternate food products don't contain enough. Good luck! I personally think it's a great alternative. C: |

im a vegetarian and have been one for over a year now.
i chose to be a vegetarian because of health reasons; though the peta video did scare me it wasnt what made me want to be a vegetarian. i chose to be one bacause of preservatives and additives such as nitroglycirin that can be found in pretty much all meats, regardless of it being organic or not. these chemicals are very cancerous... cancer runs in my family, my grandmother had it, my mother died in 2004 from Breast Cancer, several other immediate family members are battling it or have already succumb to it. these chemicals in meat increase a womans chance of getting breast cancer by 70% thats a hella risk id like to avoid. |

Meat isn't supposed to last a week (in fact, I think it was three days or something) without going bad, and most meat you buy at the supermarket is wack like that! |

Hell if you read my post, it said i DO eat meat. some of the reasons i didnt eat meat were those like deplorables, because my family has a history of cancer also. other reasons were ethical, and i thought it was wrong. but now im back onto meat because of health issues. i eat kosher meat, and the things i get from the local farm across the road. |

well maybe you should have said so in the first place instead of saying that you decided not to eat meat in the first place due to the fact that eating meat causes global warming and pollution.
and since you were the one that brought that up. care to explain how eating meat causes global warming and pollution? |

pollution because there are so many cows and animals around, and they get killed, then the babies reproduce and get killed, etc etc. and global warming because pollution contributes to global warming aswell. o_o kmasfsdaf sorry if im not being clear its late here and i am abit tired x__x |

Would that not be incentive to continue eating them? i lol'ed. i'm lacto-ovo-pescetarian. i'd have to say probably one of the biggest reasons that i stopped eating meat was just because i didn't like it anymore... i didn't like the texture or the way it tasted, and it eventually just grossed me out. i don't really like seafood either, but i'm not going to bother with pills and shit to get my nutrients; i'm horrible with pills. i don't really try to urge people to take on a similar lifestyle via peta-style gory videos, though i do encourage people to try it just so they can get an idea of what it's like. it can't hurt, right? ![]() |

Its okay guys, if you're not vegetarian. Really, its your own choice, not ours.
I became a vegetarian because I don't like the taste at all! (Similar to what Ruth said) My parents were vegetarian before I was born, so that can explain why. Plus, my mom doesn't really serve meat at home. All the "adults" say that I have to eat meat because I'm a growing human, and that I should stop caring about animals...but the truth is, I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT THE ANIMALS I JUST DON'T LIKE THE FREAKING TASTE! Thank you. ![]() |

I think vegetarianism is cool same with veganism. I think its a great way to stay in shape and care for the earth. I don't know ifI'll ever do it, I'm still trying to make a descision and figure out if I really wanna do it or not cuz I love eating meat and everything but it rly sux when animals are practically tortured for my tastebuds.

^Do you not realize that veganism is more than not eating meat? It's also not eating dairy products, eggs, honey, etc., so to say that "eating veggies and all them dairy products is good for you [sic]," you're completely missing the point.
I'm all for ending animal cruelty. I don't eat very much meat as it is. But I'm sure as hell not going to give up my egg and dairy products, just because some practices are inhumane. My vastly limiting my own diet is not going to help a damn thing; I get that often times people do it on principle, but frankly I don't like vegetables enough. And where honey is concerned, what other good do bees serve? I have a friend who's trying to become a vegan, and it did not take very long to have him eating honey out of the bottle and shouting "f**k the bees!" with us. I just find it silly, and it's very very hard to have a balanced diet that way. I'm totally cool with vegans, because what other people eat or don't eat doesn't really concern me, but it's kind of a delusion. |

I dont cur if its not about just meat. If it's not moving or got 2 legs i dun cur. Giving up on animal cruelty..? Like i said, there's billing of ppl on this planet are carnivorous, good luck trying to convince them to quit dumbass. I pretty much handle everything there is to ask but guess you wanted me to repeat myself. Who gives a shiet if your friend is becoming a vegan, fuk that. Eventually your buddy gonna fuking feel weak as shiet. Once again look up the population of the world. You vegans people ain't gonna do shiet. Just do whatever make you feel healthy. All veggues and dairy products will not do you good. she isn't converting you, calm down |

there are a good deal of vegans that don't have health problems. it's not impossible to take on an alternative diet and be healthy at the same time. if you just google vegan, vegetarian, pescetarian, or whatever the hell celebrities, you'll find plenty of people who've chosen something different.
granted, we don't have personal trainers, dietitians, nutritionists, and etc. looking after us, but it's not impossible. nguoicasison... do some damn research before you even start to try thinking on your own. edit; also for the love of vegetables, not everyone who chooses an alternative diet does it because they love animals - not that i don't love animals. i'm just saying, somehow that turned out to be a common misconception. |

If you want to become a veganism cuz you care for the animals..... Um... I don't know what to say.. Shut the f**k up if you're not even going to read what I said. Speaking of not doing anything for the world... |

I had to write a 5 page speech on animal rights once for college this semester. I wish I still had it. I'm vegetarian, have been for a few months and my body has been perfectly fine and I didn't slowly get in to the diet I just went cold turkey one day.
![]() I get plenty of protein and I don't have any deficiencies from my knowledge although I am going to a doctor to have some tests done to be positive. I'm not the one to convert others to being vegetarian and I'm defiantly not a cow hugger. If people want to eat meat then fine, I want to be healthy without eating meat and contribute to the harmful effects that eating meat is causing on the earth today. When they kill animals they use a ton of a gas to move the animals to multiple places and the different processes that the animals have to go through. The crops that are wasted to feed all these animals so they can meet the demand on meat that the people want. The water they have to use to clean the slaughter houses and to clean the factories and to give the animals water to live on. |

OK i'm sorry CowerpointyObject, i was just kidding about going like a crazy maniac. The truth is i just hope ppl that are veganism cuz they want to end animal cruelty.. It's just not going to happen no matter what you do. Not even if out of 100 ppl eat veggies and there's only 1 that eat meat. That meat eater person will not give up meat just cuz u guys all eat veggies. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN!! I don't feel bad if anything happen to them vegetarian/veganism ppl at all. It's their choice and the way they end up is their fault. There's nobody to blame but themseleves once they get old and weak. no you aren't. i mean you say shit about how people deserve AIDS, i doubt this was one of the times you were joking |

I love meat too, but should others decide to do it, more power to them. As long as it doesn't effect me, directly or indirectly, I don't care. Oh, I don't care at all what others do in that respect. Moreover, I care even less whether a person eats meat or not. It's VEGANISM that I find pointless, not (well, much more than) vegetarianism. |
