not really sure where this goes...
but anyways.
did anybody hear about the explosion in Missouri on Tuesday? i'm really surprised it hasn't got out more. they actually considered completely evacuating jefferson city. it was...a hundred times worse than you could imagine. heres the basics. more links (videos, pictures, and such) at the bottom.

"JEFFERSON CITY- A Jefferson City truck driver died when the 8,000 gallon tanker he was driving exploded. The tanker was carrying 7,600 gallons of diesel and 852 gallons of ethanol alcohol. The explosion closed both east and westbound lanes of the highway around one Tuesday afternoon. Eye witnesses to the accident said it looked like a war zone.

"We went out and we looked out over the bridge up there. It was just twisted, twisted metal. It looked like something you'd see in Iraq in a car bombing," said witness Thomas Pompender. "The first thing I did was start to pray for the guy and his family."

The driver of the tanker died in the accident. He was a Jefferson City resident. Investigators do not know what caused the tanker to catch fire.

Officials directed cars to 179 and encouraged motorists to avoid the area. Officials closed Jefferson Street and evacuated South School. Flames from the truck caused power outages for 1,600 customers.

"We got 1,281 back on within half an hour from the time it happened," said Mike Clearly of AmerenUE. "There were still 327 out until about 4:00 p.m. We got most of them back on. As I understand it, there's still ten locations where we're still doing some checking."

Highway 54 was reopened just before 6:00 p.m.

Officials said they believe the four support columns on Jefferson Street Bridge are damaged. The bridge will remain closed until Wednesday when inspection teams will continue their work.

"We do know that the Jefferson Street overpass did receive significant damage as a result of the fire. There are four bridge columns that we are very concerned about," said Roger Schwarts of MODOT.

Investigators said they will conduct an accident reconstruction Tuesday night to try to determine what happened."
