having trouble with photoshop/image ready, my options are locked? Options

for some reason when i jump to imageready so i can do some animation, my options on my animation pallette are locked. like when i scroll over them, it has that circle and slash (like a "no smoking" sign) thing. i tried to save the image in different formats thinking this was the problem, but it doesnt matter. i cant use the options like "Tweeb" and stuff.

any idea as to why?

Hmm, I think the layer is "locked." In the layer palette, do you see a "lock" icon next to it? Double-click the layer, and you may or may not be able to use it. Maybe. I rarely use ImageReady, but this is what I do in Photoshop.
