Do you have any rules when using AIM? Things you hate that your friends does when talking on it?

What do you think about who messages first concerning a person you like? Do you ever play hard to get through there?

What I hate is when my friend does this:

her (12:25:15 AM): and we went to target
her (12:25:21 AM): and got back to my house around 10
her (12:25:24 AM): and we watched tv
her (12:25:31 AM): and i went to the bathroom at like 1240
her (12:25:33 AM): and my mom came down
her (12:25:37 AM): i heard her but i was in the bathroom
her (12:25:42 AM): and she came to the bathroom door
her (12:25:45 AM): and was like gina
her (12:25:47 AM): ur friend has to go
her (12:25:50 AM): its time for bed
her (12:25:54 AM): and iwas like kay
me (12:25:58 AM): how lameee lol

They
just
need
to
write
it
in full sentences.

Alright my guy friend has worse internet than me so he is always signing off and on or becoming idle so I never talk to him first because idk if he's even there. Plus if I message him first every time I feel that he'll think I'm desperate..lol.

I make things short and simple on AIM, just like if I'm texting...unless I'm trying to flirt with someone I know, and yea I hate when people try to give you every little detail to, but it doesnt bother me that much, my usual AIM convos consist of four words, "Hey, Yea, Lol, K, Later"

I think it's nice when people IM me first. It lets me know they want to talk to me. Plus sometimes I'm testing to see if they actually will so sometimes I let them do it purposefully. But I always IM and call my boyfriend first, so I don't think it's bad or desperate.

I HATE that when someone does that!

They use like 4-6 words and enter, rinse and repeat. I find it very annoying if its a long story cuz then you keep hearing the sound over and over.

I really hate it when they say "OMG, like LOL!" every 5 seconds.
Or when they I'm me just to tell me they're bored.

HAHA! Me too, but I don't really care if they IM me or not. They usually do. whistling.gif

I hate it
when people
dont know how to
type in full sentences
too.

And I hate it when people say "lol" even when it's not even funny... and when I AIM them back, they don't respond and just ignore it (even if I do that sometimes) or if they just cut in the middle of me saying something.

I
always
type like
this
because
i'm too excited
to tell my friend things
so i keep pressing enter
and then i get over limited
and that really sucks.

I'm always on my away message because I can talk while away; then I can ignore whoever I don't want to talk to! yay!

I find myself using phrases such as, "and then i blahblahblah" over and over. AIM conversations don't always need to be prose, ya know.

i keep my "whatever"s to myself unless the person i'm talking to knows me really well... only one comes to mind. i rarely ever type that out as a one-word reply, and usually i'll type something like "whatevarrr" instead.

to me, "whatever" just means that you don't care, and that's not true about the people i talk to.

sometimes i sign on and watch the clock... hehe.gif entertaining.
i can wait forever to start a conversation online. if it's urgent, i'll go over in person or use the phone.

Guilty.

-_-*

I do the whole incomplete sentence pattern sometimes, too. I just get so cautious if I'm telling someone something and it ends up being a whole paragraph. _unsure.gif

I tend to start talking like the person Im talking to.

One of my friends doesnt use punctuation, capitalization, and such and I notice whenever I talk to her, I dont use that either.

But whenever I talk to another friend who always uses ' I tend to use them when I normally dont.

Ahh the complications of today's technology.
I really dislike it when all people say are "lol" over and over again.
I don't really mind people pressing the enter button repeatedly. I do it too sometimes when I'm telling a story and I want to build suspense.

But every time we try to punch period
Or comma
We hit the enter key
Again
And again
And again
We're sorry we exist
We're sorry we completely ruing your ideal world
We're sorry things are so messed up for you
We're
So
So

I have a friend who says "lol" to EVERYTHING! I'm like "You cant be seriously laughing out loud every time, quit lying".
And sometimes I ask him why he keeps saying it. His response is always "becuz ur funny".

Yeah, the cut off sentences and lol's after every thought are what caused me to stop using AIM as much. If people really want to talk to me, they can call me up. =]

BTW, why is this in relationships?

A conversation I had with my friend over MSN.

Her:"hey..... lol. can i ask you something??????"
Me: "Sure. What's up?"
Her: "ok lol. like i need this favor lol. and it's really important lol. could you print out my english assignment???? my printer is being gay. lol."
Me: "Er-- okay."

It's constantly "lol" or "??????". It drives me insane. How about a f**king comma every now and then?

Goodness!
I've seen so many horrible ways of typing, it breaks my heart D:
I hate it when people type what they like to call "1337"
Holy crap.
And I really FRICKIN' hate it when people do things like (:<3, or "<3" or ilyy, or alaa, or lessthanthree<3
And when people are like "oh yoh, that's madd ohdee BLEH. I hate that with all my guts ;~;
Ohohohoh!! And that reminds me of those who
TYPE ALL iN CAPS AND ONLY USE LOWER CASE LETTERS FOR THE LETTER "i" iT'S LiKE SO LiKE NOT COOL, MUCH? <-- Another thing I can't frickin' stand.
Example: Ohmgsh, this shirt is so pretty, much?
Lol, she's SUCH a loser, much?

And a bunch of other crap people have created.
I mean, Y0H TH4T'S LiK33 M4DD 0HD33, MUCH?

I don't like it when people give me one word responses such as, "lol" or "okay." It's not short or sweet, it really shows your concern for continuing the conversation or lack thereof.
