In Cincinnati it is illegal to have a Pit Bull if it was registered with the county before 2000 (I am pretty sure that's the year, but I could be wrong). If you have one and the city finds it, they will take it from you, euthanize(sp?) it, and fine you. Even if the dog has NEVER attacked ANYONE they will KILL it because of the crimes of other pit bulls.
I live in Hamilton, a smaller town just outside Cincinnati. They are trying to do it here now and I think it is just terrible.

Does anyone think it is right that this happens?

I definitely don't agree with that decision, but I can understand why Cincinnati's government would choose to do that. They want to protect their citizens from any more pit bull attacks. If anything, only the pit bulls that have actually attacked people should be euthanized; but I'd rather none of them were at all.

I don't understand it.

It'd be like punishing a whole race for crimes that one person commit. I have never EVER met a mean pit bull. All dogs will attack if they are provoked.

I think animals are better than people in some sense. I am not a crazy animal fanatic, and I eat meat. But, I think that animals are (in most cases) loyal and friendly. They don't want you for your money or good looks, they love you even if you mistreat them. They remind me of children.

I couldn't kill a puppy.

Me neither, and I agree with the second part.

Do you know the statistics for pit bulls that have mauled or viciously attacked people in Cincinnati?

I have only heard about one or two attacks.
Statistics show that Pit Bulls, on average, have a better temperament than Golden Retrievers.

Then get off your fat ass and do something the fuck about it. This site is a database full of horse shit. Who gives a flying fuck whether other people think it's wrong. It's not gonna change the fucking law just because you believe it. If you think a certain way, go talk to the fucking senator, you fucking cry baby, dirt merchant.

Are you f**king kidding me?
I was asking opinions. I wasn't asking you to chastise me because I don't live in Cincinnati. When it comes up on the ballot in HAMILTON, where I stated I live, I will be more than happy to vote against and speak out against it. More than anything I wanted someone to tell me a reason they think the dogs SHOULD be put down. I want to see two sides to the story but I don't. That's what debates do for me. Rather than just ATTACKING someone for no reason I want to LEARN and take something from the debate that will make me a better, more rounded person.
If you insist upon insulting my looks, it would work a lot better if you were to say something that was actually true.
I am sorry if you think I a ma crybaby, but that's just not true. I have protested, and to tell you the truth it does NOTHING to change the law. I am not rich, my daddy doesn't own anything of importance, so my word has no sway in what goes on in the government.

Krystal, ignore Jake. pinch.gif
I think it's great that you're going to vote against the bill to put down pit bulls in Hamilton. Hopefully there are enough people like you so it won't be passed.

Lol, I hit a cat with my car yesterday. It got caught in the wheel well, and as I drove it cept bending the wheel well with it's weight. Eventually, it's weight would drive the cat towards the spinning wheels of death tearing it to shreds and flipping it back up into the wheel well like a diving board. This happened about 2-3 times until the cat and my wheel well twisted around the tire in a whirl-wind of death and spit him and my plastic wheel well out behind my car.

I euthanized that cat real good.

HAHAHAHA.

It's sad, but the last sentence got me. My fiance and I almost got into a wreck when he swerved to miss a puppy. It was really scary.

Wouldn't you have rather hit the dog without risking your lives?

He was driving.
We weren't going very fast, and we would have lived had we hit the telephone pole. But, it would have REALLY messed up our car.

^ Hey! I know that quote in your siggy.

Anyway, I think its a really stupid law if they're enforcing it. sad.gif Just because of what pitbulls did, future pitbulls are no longer allowed to live in harmony with people? That's just really sad. You can easily get hurt by any other force.

I love that quote!

But, yeah. I don't agree with it all. I think that pit bulls are like any other dog. Some are mean, and some aren't. Just because some people breed them to fight, doesn't mean all of them fight.

I wish people would take the time to think about how irrational it is before they put the dogs down.
They enforce it in Cincinnati, but not here.

Well, no.
I think if the dog has attacked someone or another dog unprovoked it should be put down.
I think that should go for every dog.
