things to do with computers and accounting, still mean lots of work. and even less time to do what you want.

Civil engineering is something you should look into. It takes the same time as most others majors. As for work, just regular 8-4/9-5 work hours.
If you want something more simple and okay pay, try business school. To advance in your career, you'll need to work hard, no matter the industry. If you just want something to pass time and get paid, you can do a mediocre job and pray you won't be laid off/fired. |

Yeah, everyone needs an accountant. It's just that the work is a bit simple and definitely repetitive. |

^ I see, thx for all the advice guys. What do you guys know about majoring in Pharmacy? PharmacistssssIn order to 'major in Pharmacy', you have to go to a school accredited by the ACPE. Most programs take 7 years, although I do know a couple a fast-track programs that finish in 6. Grrrrreat money, definitely, but I'd job-shadow (follow a Pharmacist around for a day) to see if it's right for you. |

It's America baby. Our system's capital. In order for you to achieve whatever the f**k you want, you'd have to work hard. Or be creative.
I'm scared of loans too.. at the same time, I don't want a career where in I would be only working for the money. I'm planning to be a journalist and hell I'm very far away from being one because of my education (pretty lousy at it). I want just enough money because really I don't need a lot, and I just want to be a journalist. My plan: State university (then UC) and attend beauty school at the same time. Because beauty school is my back up plan in case shit happens. |

I was just talking to my dad about this.
One of the best majors right now if you want to get paid a lot of money when you get a job is like chemical engineering, I believe. If I'm not mistaken it is like 80 grand per year straight out of college. It is a LOT of work though. Basically though, if you are looking to make money, you might consider going into a medical one. Now that the baby boomers are growing older, they are going to need a lot more people with medical experiance to take care of all them. A lot of baby boomers are going to be needing surgeries, so physical therapists are going to be needed, etc. And also, business is a classic, you will pretty much always find a job if you have a business degree. If you really don't know what you want to do you can always get admitted undeclared and take a class that will explore your options and also get your core classes over it. The ten most popular majors are [I think this is up to date]: 1. Business Administration and Management 2. Psychology 3. Elementary Education 4. Biology 5. Nursing 6. Educaton 7. English 8. Communications 9. Computer Science 10. Political Science. Some good websites to research are: www.bridges.com --- You need and ID and password for this one. Side ID: 0035734 Password: Choices Explorer To access information go to Create a portfolio [green tab] then Select WORK and then select CAREER FINDER www.careerkey.org --- I think this site is based off you personality types so you would have to select YOUR PERSONALITY then HOLLAND'S THEORY OF CAREER CHOICE and then HOLLAND'S SIX PERSONALITY TYPES www.educationplanner.org --- For this one, you would first select CAREER ASSESMENT then TAKE THE CAREER KEY ASSESMENT. You would then visit each of the six personality types and select those careers that are intersting to you. NOTE: You must update your list prior to visiting each personality type. I'll edit more information in later, if I can. I have to run to work now though. |

Grrrrreat money, definitely, but I'd job-shadow (follow a Pharmacist around for a day) to see if it's right for you. Two of my friends are attending a three-year fast-tracked program in Worcester, Massachusetts. You're right it's great money, but there is at least one problem. Like all specialized careers like pharmacy or law, there are not as many easy opportunities for you to change your career once you've entered the industry. Meaning, once you're a pharmacist, you'd most likely to work in a pharmacy or a lab environment for the rest of your career. Whereas, if you're a financial analyst or a purchasing manager, you can change up your career path to something completely different if you feel the need for change. I was just talking to my dad about this. One of the best majors right now if you want to get paid a lot of money when you get a job is like chemical engineering, I believe. A friend of mine teaches 1st graders for the first time last year and gets a pay check of around $40,000. Keep in mind that teachers get great benefits like sales perks, good health care, and a lot of time off. Teachers also have one of the safest jobs aroung (job security wise). |

My family and i have talked over about getting loans for college if i can't get fafsa for this upcoming school start. What are the pros and cons for getting loans? I know it's good for your credit but that's all i see it. The con is you will die paying for it for the rest of your life. I asked people how they pay for college... they go.. loans.. I asked aren't they afraid of not being able to pay back, and they go.. no. I'm pretty sure most kids have their parents pay for them n their parents help them pay for their loans. But i don't understand why kids that get loans when they're in a dilemma between their $$ n school. As much as i want to go to college, i just can't afford getting loans. It's a SCARY thing to me. I'd rather wait until i'm 25 to go to college or something. I didn't see this question previously so I'm answering it now. If you have financial issues, you DO NOT HAVE TO enroll in an expensive 4-year college right away. A bunch of people I know took their core classes (prerequisites like English and math) at community colleges, kept up their GPA and transfers to a 4-year college later. That saved them a lot of money and I thought that I should've done the same. As far as I know, there is no consequences for doing so as long as you make sure that your credits for those classes will transfer. I paid for my own college tuition through working part time, getting scholarships, grants, and loans, but you can do all that with loans. There is NOTHING scary about loans. In fact, they will help you build your credit for later (like buying a car or a getting your own cell phone plan). The interest is low for Federal Subsidized Loans and you do not have to pay for it right after graduation. The government gives you a grace period to find a job before paying for your loans. You should contact your school's loan officer or Financial Aid officer for more information. Don't be scared, be informed. |

Do you think they didnt know what they were doing? Who the hell wants a kid who thinks they're smarter than the parent, miss know-it-all over here. They wanted you to drink the lead. You're parents dont even love you.

Way to be original, they must love you at school, always coming up with new stuff, you retard. Was it lonely at school? Was it lonely when no one would sit with you so you had to spend your lunch in the library, or in a teachers room? Im sure you thought that teacher was a nice person who actually cared about your life. Really they just wanted to get the f**k out of school so they could go home to their real lives and smoke pounds of weed to try and forget your stupidity. Was it lonely?

Why, so that you can fling some more zingers my way? Listening to you is like watching an infomercial at 3 in the morning. You wish they would shut up and you want to find something else to do, but they wont and you cant. I wonder, do you have a job? I hope so, I'd love to go to whatever fast food restaraunt you work drive thru at and see how long it takes you to fix me up a chicken salad and a bottled water. Try not to look at me when you hand it over though, I want to keep my appetite. Try brushing those teeth too, Meth Mouth is really gross.

Have you ever thought of becoming a firefighte? I say that because in Jersey City, probies come in starting at 50,000+ per year and only work on average 100 days a year.

If you're interested in being a firefighter, you should become a volunteer to start! Big cities usually have volunteer firefighter teams.
Other jobs? It depends on what you like to do. |

I used to think like you. The problem is that it's always easier to imagine that you can "put up with it" than you can actually deal with it. If you're unhappy with your job, you'll be miserable and make people around you miserable. I would know.
For example, if you like the outdoors, you'll grow bored with being stuck in an office doing computer work all day. Or, if you can't work well with a team, you'll not only suck at working on team projects, but also annoy other people... etc. You may be able to imagine getting used to things you don't like, but... I'm telling you that you'll just end up unhappy. Anyway, just a thought. Good luck on finding your dream job. |

You're kidding yourself if you think you can just make good money by majoring in a specific area. You also have to be good at what you're doing. It's not a matter of what you study as there's no easy way to get rich; the fortune will come when you work at it.

What i like to do is not important. I just want to know what jobs make good $$(majors). Even if it's not something i like to do, i'll put up with it. Only if you have a knack for it, as well. Go into the medical field - you're Asian and you want to make a lot of money. Why is it that you want to make a lot of money, anyway? You might end up taking out a grip load of loans in order to get through medical school though, unless your family helps you out a lot. lol stereotype |

Pharmacy is a good major is you really wanna make a lot of money. Starting salary for a pharmacist fresh out of school is probably about 80-100,000 and that's not including benefits, sick days, and bonuses. The only bad side is you have to go school for six years.

Longer. Going pre-pharm will be 4 years in college, and 4 years in graduate school. It's a lot more work considering you have to major in Chem... Pharmaceutical chemistry, that is. Only those with a knack for it can succeed. I heard the mcat (pcat? I forgot what it's called) is a killer! |

Depends on what you mean by "good living"--getting by or making it big?
