i'm making an image-it's one layer-that has been filled with black set at 43% transparency. myspace be hatin' ( laugh.gif ) on psd's...so i saved for web>image only as a GIF...when i upload it, it's completely transparent. is there another way i can save it so the black is still transparent?

PSD isn't a compressed file type. They have layers that let you change the image and can only used in Photoshop or other PSD compatible software. :P Can you show me the image? Is the background white? Wouldn't it just look gray then?

no, it's one layer. the original layer was transparent, and i filled it with 43% black...so the thing it's going over will be "colorized" black.
i know about the PSD thing, hence the reason i was asking about another way other than the two already said. and considering it /is/ a PSD, i really can't show you. laugh.gif

Screenshot if possible? And include the layer palette.

But I think I get what you're saying. If you want to put transparency over an image (or whatever else) on your layout, making an image that has a low opacity won't do that, even if you save it as a .gif or .png, both of which allow transparencies. You'd have to use a code filter for that. Let's see if I can find it. I remember it being Javascript and if I'm right, then you can't do it because MySpace doesn't allow Javascript.

Make sure you see the checkered pattern because it means it's transparent.

you could always just use an opacity filter using css.
