I actually thought that CB would be better after we all had to start a new chapter in the history of CB but nope, not much has changed. It's going to be back to the way it used to be, which is a shame because I've seen many positive changes but there'll always be the one problem with drama on CB. Shit, man, a little respect and friendliness wouldn't be so bad. A little civility wouldn't hurt anyone, especially if it's directed to someone you don't like.

Eh. General bitchniess (even if was just a joke) doesn't exactly help.

The Lounge has just become a dump for drama.

I was looking for the thread regarding post counts in Introductions (but Elba was kind enough to just say why LOL)

Anyway, in searching I came across this thread, which lead me to this thread, which leads me to, I miss Nate!

And Toya, you're right. It isn't that bad, just would be great if people could be nicer. I'll take people being genuine over faking nice, for sure but yeah.

Let me ask you. Is everyone in real life nice? No. There will never be any peace here on cB as you wish there to be. It's just how life works. Once a drama ends, another one starts up.

A long time ago, there was a forum I used to go to where they had a seperate area for people who wanted to cause trouble or have some e-drama. It was kind of funny sometimes.

yknow i honestly dont think it's as bad as it was. half the threads you're talking about are just jokes; there's no real hostility. just the steven vs tung drama and us vs sandra drama which wouldnt even exist if she would just quit being a mod.

Of course not but it's not exactly the same. Here, drama just sits there or it festers, which is what usually happens. Some people SEEK drama/attention and for someone like me, it's harder to ignore it on CB than irl. I do a fair job of not getting involved or seeing drama in irl.

I can understand the jokes but sometimes, it's taken too far and it's annoying.

I don't think that Mona is under the impression that there will ever be total peace here. I know I don't.

It would be nice if there was a little of this and a little of that. This place has plenty of assholes, plenty of bitches, plenty and plenty of mean spirited posts. That's fine. Most of it seems tongue-in-cheek anyway. It just would be nice if in addition to that there would be some pleasant and thought provoking conversation as well, that's all.

I agree. There's lots of joking amongst friends on the boards that people who are new here or don't know could take the wrong way. I don't think it's as bad as before. No one is going to be 100% kind 100% of the time. The forums would be boring then, but I think we've come a long way. Doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement.

Meh, I wouldn't say that's what makes it awesome.

And I don't mean for this to be so serious. If there is conflict on the forums, it is rarely solved peacefully (lol, yeah, I know I'm asking too much for everyone to get along. That's like asking for world peace.) if solved at all. I guess I'm just annoyed that the recent conflicts haven't ended well.

I really thought the tear-down would be a really nice clean-slate sorta deal. And it was, but like Mona said - it's just back to the way it was again. I'm not, in any way, saying that inside jokes are terrible and are ruining cB, but take a look at the Lounge - it's just full of it, and only a very select number of people who take part. The sense of overall community, I think, is going way, way down.

And I know, know, know how many people just absolutely hate Rico. And I know that there are times when he's practically asking for it, but I don't know...it just seems so out of hand, like it's literally everyone vs. Rico. And that whole Amber thing? It just really feels like there's always that one person that a million people rally against to gtfo, and that kind of....bullying, I would say, shouldn't be so intense and constant.

Well said Kaycee. Couldn't be any more true. The whole bullying of Suz was imo unnecessary. There were other ways to get her to step down. But what's done is done. And then the whole bullying of Sandra is also stupid.

'Bullying' of Suzzette? Are you talking about what happened before she went crazy? I would hardly call that bullying. And no, I don't think there were other ways to get her to step down.
The community needed to know what was going on, and what happened happened, its in the past.

I also don't think people voicing their opinions is really 'bullying'. Though, I suppose they could take it a bit easier on Sandra. But w/e.
[You're still cool in my book, Tung]

Steven, Trish, Elba, Spenc... they are always going to be the way they are. The way they act is very consistent, which is what I love about all of them.
If you don't like it, well... get over it. Cause they aren't going to change for you or anyone else.
(Thats probably the most I've typed on cB in awhile haha)

edit:
I still think the community is better than it used to be. but w/e.

so i guess.. we should just stop joking around. cuz i guess mona assumes that all newcomers dont have a sense of humor. i'm not trying to be a bitch in this particular thread, but seriously, mona. we're joking around. who the hell would think a thread full of "ELBA SHUT UP ELBA SHUT UP" is serious? no one argues like that, unless they're in 2nd grade. lighten up. kara is right, we're not going to change just because you're not happy about the way we act.

edit://
and i've been to forums and other types of online communities where people are MUCH more unwelcoming towards newcomers. ESPECIALLY towards pretty girls and dumb noobs because the majority of people on there are ugly geeks who need to validate their existence in cyberland.

I didn't name any particular threads or particular people and I wasn't talking about inside jokes. It was more about conflicts.

And I'm not really concerned with other forums. One forum, and CB at that, is more than enough for me.

I don't think that she was "bullied" at all. People exposing someone's real side/agenda isn't bullying. Think of it as a candid press release. ;)

And like Kara, I don't think that there's any "fighting" going on here at all. People can disagree or discuss things without it being "fighting."

[Regarding Suzette] Even still superstitious, candid press releases could quite often be construed as defamation of character and that's a civil offence. A good lawyer can make a mint from the rubbish people publish online.

Seriously, after taking Law classes I'm extra careful about what I write online now. A little respect goes a helluva long way.

Yikes, I didn't mean to get into a debate about Suzzette (in fact, I'm rather tired of the subject). I was just saying that I didn't think she was "bullied." :)

Having said that, having myself and my child mentioned among her little chats is a bit of defamation as well. ;) No win, no win. No matter how you look at it.

laugh.gif Oh jeez.

But I don't know...I sort of agree with Mona. I think it has gotten better, but as we all are quite aware of, its not going to completely disappear (the drama/conflicts/etc.) so I think I've somewhat come to terms with that. *shrug* It does get frustrating in a way, but after some time there's not much that can be done.

To play devil's advocate here, the words came from the horse's mouth. So how is posting a chat transcript (where you can see the words yourself) considered an "opinion"? She incriminated herself, she merely got caught and was exposed.

People keep saying they start drama because they don't care about people online, but I think it's because they care too much...if you really didn't care, you wouldn't get into it. People make such a huuuuuuuuuuuge deal about the smallest things on here. Every little thing that anyone does wrong (or even right) is made into a giant spectacle. Mona's right; it's a new person every week. Once you run out of things to make fun of one person about or when they stop caring, you find a new one to make fun of and be mean to, cause I guess it's cool or something and then you don't feel so alone. If someone makes fun of you, you have your 5 or 6 people with you that make fun of others to back you up. It's seriously a high school (strangely enough, a lot of the "drama" people are in college).

Do it! Jump all over me! Now!

You don't even come around enough for your opinion to matter. You guys think fun should just be one sides where everyone is nice and polite to everyone. I'd like to point out that most of the people you are referring to are keeping these boards alive. If you don't believe me, suspend us all for a day and see what happens.

durrr. i'm sure people don't come on here because they have to or they are learning something. only because i'm hella bored and probably anyone else who comes on cb is trying to cure that. life is one huge high school scene and will even happen in the work place.
drama rules the damn world.
alone? cool???
what? it's realizing how nutty people are and do it through a site and if you want that crazy out, you get them out by exposing.
that's what i think anyways.

Were any of us on tonight? I come back after like 6-7 hours of being away and had nothing to read.

No. I'm not going to suspend people for some social experiment. I classify that as abusing my "powers". How hard would it be not to log in? Or even to come to CB?

I don't even know who was in the Dynasty crew or what the hell that even was. I think I was on vacation at that time and I wasn't even an admin.

Yah well, it's cB, no? (un)fortunately, drama is a part of this forum, always will be.
I truly do not see what good being nice would do (which depends on your definition of nice) if it's not in your nature. Obviously, there'd be a lot of ass kissing and pretense which eventually would become boring.

The whole Suzzette problem did bring cBers closer for a short amount of time. Afterwards, cB resumed being cB.

About the Rico issue, what bugged me was the fact that many people started raining insults on him without actually knowing the whole story. Especially newbies. pinch.gif

^Well, some people assume they know what's going on or what they're talking about and join in only because it seems to be the "cool" thing to do.

^ Exactly. I mean, fine, some people do have real reason not to like the guy. Rico isn't perfect. At a period, it was becoming the 'in thing'. Everyone bashed Rico. Even those who knew nothing concrete about the issue. Just hearsay. Wow. How cool is that?
But there are others whom's dislike for Rico have got nothing to do with what happened a year back, though. Granted.

There are many different reasons for disliking Rico though.
