"Tung shut up" was closed. Was it hurting anyone? Did it offend Tung? Did you see him bitching and moaning about it? Maybe he reported it and if he did, what a pussy (but I presume he did not). Anyways, so what if it was pseudo spammy. So what if others thought it was stupid? People were participating, actually sticking to the topic (OMFGZOMGLOLZINORITE?) and people were having fun. Why was it closed? Spam. Who the f**k cares? Who was it hurting? Why not just leave it open?

I know this was discussed backstage and I know people were told to be more lenient. If there's not much work to do as people staff, you don't have to go looking for it. If things are running smoothly, just be a normal person. Don't moderate shit because it can be.

edit: http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...192082&st=0
they're just talking about themselves! Why isn't that closed?

Do you have to add in a question so that it's not considered spam? Does it have to appeal to the masses and be something everyone can participate in?

I'm not sure why this one was closed either. Sure it was a really old topic (bumped by a moderator, I believe) but people were having fun in it.

The Lounge is supposed to be pretty mod-free, from what I can remember Jusun saying. Only topics that are advertisements and blatant spam should be moderated. What is so different between the topic Steven is referring to and the AIM thread?

Hi Steven.

About Tung's topic, sure, Trish wanted him to STFU, no problemo but then it deviated. People were actually spamming. There are so many topics that aren't exactly serious but were left open because people stayed on topic.

EDIT// Also, Tung apologized for f**king with Trish. Trish forgave him. So I don't exactly see why it should remain open.
She can always create a 'Tung I accept your apology thread'. By the way, I wasn't looking for something to moderate. I was simply doing what I thought was right.

As for the second topic, she wasn't only talking about herself, she asked a question. Re-read it. So yes, it should remain open.

That happened to be the subject of the day. It happens to a lot of things. But anyhow, even if it was deviating, who was it hurting? Why did it have to be closed? If the PM comment was directed at me, I feel this should be something for everyone to add input. This isn't an attack at you Sandra.

But you can always create a new subject of the day and I'll post in it. Steven, I don't have a stick up my ass so I understand what you mean. The topic was ... dead. It wasn't cute spam anymore. (no offense Trish).

The PM post was @ Rebecca. I was going to PM you but I read your signature. ><

Tung, I was saying if. I didn't think you did.

VIP Lounge to become it again? If the VIP lounge sucks so bad, why do we still have it? Wasn't suzzette a major proponent of it? Who else is pushing to keep it open anymore?

Sandra I wasn't accusing you over moderating for the sake of moderating.

PS My PMs work, that was 2 months ago or so and is a recycled sig.

I didn't say you had a stick up your ass.

Regardless, even if it was spammy, why close it? I don't think it was dead. It had 5 responses today.

La la la la laaaaaaaaaaaaaa. Kay well I'll be sure to bring it up if things are being closed here there or anywhere for no apparent reason other than it's sorta spammy.

EDIT// Can you compare it to spam threads relating to Tung and penis? I post in those topics!!

Trish accepted his apology so now, Tung can open his mouth. So the topic isn't valid anymore. >< I'm over thinking.

Honestly there no big deal with it being open but it was really spammy by the end of it and was completely off the topic of telling tung to shut up, and in the forum rules it does have spam wink.gif

And yea, I think we should just get rid of the VIP lounge shrug.gif

Well I guess I'm torn from both sides.

Yes theres no real point in closing it and I mean whatever really. But also in another sense it was really spammy and I see 100% why Sandra closed it.

In the forum rules it says:
QUOTE
Chatting --> Some is tolerated, if it relates to the topic, but personal conversations and chatroom-like talking is in no way allowed. Use the chatroom. That's what it's there for.

Elba even said to move on to chizzat or whatever its called, so there would have been a real point in keeping it open anyway because the people that were posting in the topic would have joined the chat.

QUOTE
One or two word posts (unless it is in the Sandbox)

There were plenty of this and considering it obviously isn't in the sandbox then it shouldn't be stuck in the lounge, so I mean if they really want to keep the topic open and alive and fill it with more conversations and whatever we can move it to the VIP lounge if you would like that?

Not to be rude and say there wasn't a real point to why the topic really had to be made...there wasn't mellow.gif It does seem like it should have just been moved to the VIP Lounge shrug.gif
QUOTE
POINTLESS THREADS
Random topics that no one will be able to reply to in a productive manner or discuss will be closed. This includes topics like 'I'm bored', "Look at my pics", "Do u love me", topics whose sole intent is to insult someone. These forums are for discussion, not attention seeking.

There wasn't really anything to discuss in the topic?

*sigh

I thought that things weren't supposed to get moderated unless it was advertisement or blatant spam. The problem is where the line is drawn (or if it's drawn). That's the tricky part of being People Staff, I guess.

I think if someone wants it reopened, let a staff member know. I think that in most cases it'll get reopened.

VIP Lounge/OM Lounge/WhateverGoes Lounge is fine. It was initially presented as a perk for being an Official Whatever. I thought Spencer was the one who brought it up initially.

Forum for the guys. Talk about all the manly guy stuff.

"Forum for the guys"
"Forum for the girls"

Honestly Spencer, I'm not going to argue with something like this. Pretty much this has all been solved, if Trish wants the topic re-opened then she can feel free to PM a people staff or head staff and we'll re-open it oh and perhaps a valid reason for it to be re-opened would be nice too.

Oh also, I didn't write the forum rules. Which is what I quoted from wink.gif

I didn't write the topic titles, which says what you can do, but is then overthrown by a set of rules. That's like walking in a bathroom that says "Pee here" and when you get in, there's a sign on every urinal saying "Can't pee here".

Spencer, you're stretching way too far here.

The 'I am proud of myself' is CLEARLY not spam as she asked a valid question. And so far, everyone was on topic.

The reason I closed Trish's topic was because, it was already solved and also because it was turning into spam. She forgave Tung. Done.

I 'farted' on Diana because she bumped the topic. So, I didn't deviate.

Although, I did close it at first.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. People are actually commenting about how old the topic is. I don't see any out of hand spam in there.

It doesn't pertain to the topic, does it? NOPE!

Here, let me have a chance at quoting some Community Guidelines:

You don't always have to be on topic. I'm talking about ugly spam. One word spam. NOTHING TO DO WITH spam.
Again, the problem was resolved so I don't see why it should remain open. BUT if Trish wants it open, fine. As long as it doesn't get out of hand.

Spencer, could you please stop bumping old topics? I understand what you mean but I don't agree with it. Not in this case.

If Trish wants the topic re-opened, she'll f**king get it as long as it doesn't resort into unnecessary spam.

Doesn't that do it for you?

My goodness. LOL

The old topic that Diana bumped *was* closed. I mentioned in this topic that it really didn't need to be. I had said that because it seemed like people were reminiscing and didn't see why it needed to be closed.

This whole bumped topic thing isn't a big deal. If someone has something relevant or fun to chat about and bumps a topic, it's not the end of the world, especially if people are participating and what not.

I would have left the locked out one open but might have been inclined to close the xanga one, simply because it was a xanga related question that had obviously been answered, as opposed to the other two which were pretty open ended.

I know it's not important, just giving my two cents.

I'll agree with Rebecca, I suppose it really isn't that big of a deal, but I know there is something somewhere about bumping topics, because when I first joined I swear the god I use to always have it shoved in my face about not bumping topics that are way old. But I honestly don't care, there is a thing about creating new topics though if it is a duplicate then its fine if its 6 months old.. *shrug

mellow.gif

Oh also Spencer, just to let you know. The un-moved really old topics were probably in the appropriate place but when Ju-sun put the back up on here after Suzzette removed the forums a lot of things were put in the wrong places...and well were still moving them all.

tung, shut up. thumbsup.gif

i dont care. i was kind of irritated when it was closed but it's not like it matters anymore.

I will say this. If you are going to enforce the rules at that kind of level or extent, Sandra, please enforce it that way consistently. You posted in a thread from 2004 that someone bumped for no reason at all and didnt even think about closing it? With your logic, Tal_dara already went on his break, in fact he's been on a 2 year break, and so the "issue" was over with.

Please give us a reason as to why it was not closed right away.

Look, I'm trying to agree here with you as much as possible.

You can have your way with whatever it is you want o_O I'm not really going to care that much about something so stupid. This is ridiculous that we have to argue over something so simple that can be fixed.

I 'farted' on Diana because she bumped the topic. So, I didn't deviate.

Although, I did close it at first.

Anyway, it doesn't matter. People are actually commenting about how old the topic is. I don't see any out of hand spam in there.

People were actually conversing in Trish' thread. Fail.

If the answer was already provided, I don't see why we need the OP's approval.

Spencer, you still don't get it.

According to you Sandra, no one gets it. If we don't get it, care to explain it to us? That's like going to a class and the professor giving you the question and telling you to answer without telling them what to do. Fail.

as a general rule of thumb here, topics that have a point (i'm not saying mine did) shouldnt be closed just because people are spamming in it. you should tell them to quit spamming and leave the thread open.

i don't know why staff started to just close topics like these...

also, just because an issue is "resolved" in the lounge doesnt mean it has to be closed either. people are still allowed to make comments as long as they are relevant to the thread. the only topics that need to be closed when they are resolved are help threads.

arent these in the mod rules backstage? i could swear they were. because i was a mod too. i know these things because i was a mod. mod mod mod.

Nah, Sandra's just dumb it seems. She can be alright sometimes, but Spencer definitely isn't following the Kryo vs Suzzette. Besides, Kryo was 100% correct in hindsight. Once we all found out the truth, no one disagreed.

ok lets try to focus here, i dont think anyone is blaming holly for anything so i dont see why we should resort to any name calling or making this personal.

i agree about sandra though. i gave her another chance to fix her inactivity, but i DID mention that even when she is active, her actions are somewhat... questionable as a mod. she doesnt seem to know what she's doing half the time.

Well I think a lot of rules are outdated and could use revision. Also just because it says it in the rules, doesn't mean they have to be followed to the dot. Aren't the "guidelines" which would imply that it's something to guide your actions, not decide them?

Look. I'm neutral in this. I've already agreed last week when I called out Sandra for being a bad mod, and that opinion still stays, until she improves. As for Spencer, he is blowing a small problem into a big one unnecessarily.

No he isn't. This isn't just because of that one thread telling you to shut up. This is about a lot of mod behavior in general.

Well, the numbers used to be larger. I used to really dislike Dee, but at least she owns up and responds in a semi constructive way. I stand corrected, it's not a lot, because there aren't a lot of mods. Sandra, Mike, Rachael in particular stick out like a sore thumb. Though I guess 3 is a lot of mods now.

I don't think Rachael is doing a bad job. She's been pretty active in the queue... she approved a bunch of my things.

Mike, I'm not so sure about. I wonder if modding is too much of a distraction from his modeling career.

In response to everything Holly quoted even though I didn't read it:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but off-topic usually means NOT ON TOPIC, MEANING SPAM.

Either correct what it says or STFU, generally speaking.
Don't take it so literally. The Lounge shouldn't be filled with topics that are COMPLETE spam. Topics don't necessarily have to ask a question or need to have a point but as long as there's something to talk about. I think you're just nit picking.

Oh, someone pointed out that the rules (or moderation?) should be consistent or something. You guys (Steven and Spencer) know that we're working on revising the rules.
