First of all: I want to apologize because I bet you all really hate questions about PHP from people who know nothing about PHP. I only understand HTML and CSS (which freakin' everyone knows). :C

That said:
I want to re-do my portfolio site. As I get better I want to be able to update and delete my photo's regularly, without having to re-do every single page in the process. It sounds like PHP could be my answer to that problem. Is it?

--> For example: I have 5 images per page. Say I want to upload 3 and there are 3 already on the last page. Would I have to make an entirely new page, or could using PHP make it so I could upload them and it'll automatically make a new page for the remaining 2?

And if I can do that, can it also make a link to the new page on the last page if specified? Or am I just crossing over into extreme laziness then and that's just some sort of magic that doesn't exist? lol

The same thing goes for updates, could I update and the last update go to a specified "Old updates" page, and only the new update shows on the index page?

I'm just trying to see what I can and can't do, it'll be easier to start designing a new layout that way.

Thanks for any help you can give me <3

And sorry again if that doesn't make much sense, just ask me and I'll try to re-word it.

If I'm understanding you correctly, you would just simply need to use the include() function.

Is it alright if you could try to reword it? biggrin.gif

thats not what she's asking for. she wants to know if there is someway for her site to automatically populate depending on how many photos she uploads, because she only wants a certain amount of photos per page, but doesnt want to manually create each page herself.

i'm looking in to this.

It really seems like you COULD run a script calling to display all the images that are uploaded to a specific directory (the picture folder on your webspace), and then all you would need to do is specify in the code how many images show up per page. Sure, you can do this with PHP. I figured I would look around to see if it had been done before, and it turns out it has:

http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex4/php-photoalbum.htm

Try it out and see if you have any problems.
