unwelcomed stories

So, when you first joined Createblog, did you feel very unwelcomed? Because I know a ton of us did. I joined in April 2004, and unfortunately for me, I was treated like shit. I will not name her, but I'm sure some of you know who I'm talking about. I guess I stayed away from cB for a year or so, came back for 2005, and left again.

It sucks that some members treat you by seniority, like your post count or join date matters. -_-

^ Lol. I see Anna all the time in my Stats class now.

Well I joined in back in 2004. And I didn't really had much of a voice, or nobody really knew me back then. I was one of those people who just posted here and there about stuff. I tried to get involve and make some friends, and made a few topics, but I got bashed because I made topics, and that I shouldn't make topics, unless I am popular. i forgot who these people are, but they were pretty popular and well known back then. The only person I knew back then was Anna (Azarel). I quit two years, and come back this summer. Oh, how things have changed.

Tina was in people staff? Wasn't she only like 12-13 years old? What the f**k? Do cB hire anybody these days?

Yeah, I kind of avoided this place for a while after I registered. I tried not to get involved in any drama because I didn't quite know who was who. I thought it was crazy that people had posts past 5 digits.

I joined March '04. I wasn't really treated like shit, but I wasn't really acknowledged either. It's understandable though, cause I didn't really go into the CBC days '05. When I was people staff, things were really different. I guess status is everything in cB.

Anyways, I didn't really feel unwelcome. Only a little bit when I was on the chat, but I eventually got with the crowd. I didn't have anyone disrespect me except for what Diana said earlier.

^ ditto.

in the beginning, i actually felt right at home. all the senior members were really nice, and even trish, with whom i remember having a minor argument right before i joined, made me feel welcomed. it was pretty easy to get along with everyone. i guess i got lucky and joined while everyone was nice ;o. even the cbchat was more fun back then.

nowadays though, i do feel a bit "unwelcomed". my posts don't get as much recognition and i feel as if my opinion doesn't really matter. and when they do get recognized, it's for all the wrong reasons. i durno, it doesn't feel the same.

I joined mid 2004 man the earliest thread were the "Hottest Girls/Guys of cB"

THe thread was ridiculous, I remember people planning with others to nominate each other, rather sad. I think the first sort of friend I made was Just AJ

When I first joined, I made a topic in The Lounge but it didn't show up. I was mad. I think either topics had to be manually approved or someone really quickly moved it and I was sad because I didn't know what had happened to it. I didn't know how CB operated then. :P Left for a month and came back to learn about Xanga and camped out in Xanga Help. I felt so welcome in there because there were soooo many amazing people who posted often in the Xanga forums. Besides the Xanga forums, I still felt welcome. More people were genuinely friendly then. Few people felt the need to cause trouble to get attention. Nowadays, I don't feel as welcome. Also because a lot of people I really like left or aren't active, which sucks.

IM GONNA MAKE A LONG POST ABOUT MY EXPERIENCE HERE
with messenger archive examples and everything

i don't have any good unwelcomed stories really
i joined randomly and never came back for a year until i had a problem coding my myspace, then every time i tried to use the piece of shit search here on the forums for my coding problems a ton of topics about masturbation and 13 year old pregnant girls would come up, so i was like wtf kind of web design forums is this.

then i made a cb profile, and browsed around on other profiles and on every f**king profile id see suzette saying pointless shit like
" i really like the color blue on ur background"

and so i decided she was complete airhead with no brains and me and my friend dari(http://darimayer.createblog.com/)used to call this place the twilight zone because i thought it was just a bunch of empty profiles with only comments from that brownsugar chick. ( i didn't realize profiles were pretty new at the time) we used to call her and toya the tweedles, like tweedle dee and tweedle dumb or whatever the f**k that story is. because they were the only people i ever saw, since i didn't go in the forums. and suzette was the "head tweedle" because she was all over the place more than toya

it's pretty funny for me to read over message archives when i was talking shit about this place

but then i came to think toya was cool

and was obsessed with trying to talk to her, but i didnt know that most of the people existed since i didn't go in the forums, i only knew of people who used their profiles

then i started posting in the myspace help forums some. and then i expanded to the debate forum and didn't think id care but this little punk ass bitch from texas didn't believe in global warming. but he turned out to be a pretty cool guy once i got over his views on global warming. and now i kinda like this place and don't think that brownsugar chick is completely stupid. only a little, i like her quite a bit. the forums are pretty addicting

THE END

i later figured out that profiles were new
i had no idea how people had been there three years and had like 3 comments on their profile

I began in Myspace and Graphic Showcase and honestly, I wasn't noticed too much. Which didn't really bother me then - I had just had fun giving 'critique' to DIV layouts. I found it so super awesome that there was a place I could go where I didn't have to see ugly layouts.

And thennnn, I somehow moved on to the Community Center, which came with no unwelcome-ness. To be fair, I never really reached out to people to make friendships, so it's not like I could encounter either friendliness or unfriendliness but yarrrrrr. 'Twas good.

well, it's not so much attention as it is just general acknowledgement. it seems (by using this word, i mean this is based on how i feel and not something that may be necessarily true) that there used to be a time when people were able to express themselves and disagree with others without there being major "e-drama" 'cause at the end of the day, one's opinion is respected and understood. nowdays it seems (again same as above) that you can't say something that might offend someone else all hell would break lose. i don't feel that same type of acknowledgement or understanding. i'm not saying there are no longer any "nice" members, but the general atmosphere is less tactful and just less open-minded, i think.
