Come one, come all! In the same vein as the Official Film Snobs Club, exclusionist attitudes come free with every top 20 favorite albums or artists list posted! If you feel like you should be entitled to tell people to never listen to music again, then apply. As someone that has been telling people to listen to better music for years now, I will let you know how qualified you aren't to push your taste in music onto others. I hated your favorite band before you knew they existed; I know what I'm doing.

If I like the cut of your jib, you can tell people what bands to listen to and why the music they listen to is just recycled, trite bullshit. We can also exchange soulseek usernames. <3

So, as I said, post your Top 20 favorite ALBUMS or ARTISTS. I'm not terribly interested in hearing about your favorite songs. Chances are those change all the time. Artists and albums offer something a bit more consistent.

We will be like a bowel irritation with a dope record collection. 1 2 3! 1 2 3!

ALBUMS
1. Death to False Screamo compilation (N/A)
2. Pretty Hot / Ghost Mice split (Anti-Creative, 2005)
3. Andrew Jackson Jihad / Ghost Mice split (Plan-It-X, 2007)

7. Circle Takes the Square - As the Roots Undo (Robotic Empire, 2004)
8. Mischief Brew - Smash the Windows (Fistolo, 2005)
9. Orchid - Gatefold (Ebullition, 2000?)

11. Anti-Product - The EPs of AP ( ?, 2002)
12. Defiance, Ohio - Share What Ya Got (Plan-It-X, 2004)
13. Raein - Il N'y a Pas de Orchestre (React With Protest, 2003)

The optimist in me wants to believe that this list a joke. The realist in me knows that it's just a list of "auto-no"s and you are completely serious. One thing's for sure, we do have very different taste in music. I don't listen to music that is unfathomably boring and unimaginative.

Hmm... Interesting. I'll give it a shot, I suppose.

I would have agreed more with this list a few years ago when I had a greater interest in indie. That interest has long since faded, though. Thusly, a lot of this list I don't particularly hate or even dislike, I just wouldn't care to listen to them again; I used to listen to The Trail of Dead, The Decemberists, Neutral Milk Hotel, Owen, and Sufjan Stevens.

I have to say, though, mewithoutyou is probably one of my most hated bands. There are a few bands on this list that I haven't heard of (Psalters, Anathallo, One Amazin' Kid, Stars) but if any on thing killed this list for me, it'd be mewithoutyou.

So, um, send this list to me three years ago and I'll let you in. ermm.gif

If you knew anything about music outside of what is spoon fed to you, you'd know that almost half of the albums on my list are acoustic; and, in most cases, the bands that made those albums are strictly acoustic. I'm pretty sure I have more acoustic on my list than you do. In other words, THEY SHOULD CALL YOU MARIO BECAUSE YOU JUST GOT ONE UP'D.

Nice try, though. Better luck next time, guy. Next time tell me you like powerpop and Fueled By Ramen Records more than I do, and I'll agree entirely.

P.S. you should know that it's Dashboard Confessional, not Dashboard Confessionals. There's only one confessional on the dashboard. Apparently, I know your bands better than you do, too.

Wait, let me get this straight: Admittance to this club is based solely on your like or dislike of the posted artists? Do you have any special plaques or awards hanging on your wall that make you a highly qualified music connoisseur, or are you just being overly pretentious and seating yourself on a higher pedestal because you have all the time on your hands to discover every band there ever was and then compare them to other people's favorites?

Oh, okay. I get it.

I'm a member of last.fm's Musical Elitists. We are far superior in our elitism; yesterday we had 8 members pending for admittance. Of those, one was accepted and another is being considered because he was a former member, the rest rejected. We've also capped membership at 50, but that's not an issue because we also kick out inactive members. We have an official executioner, but she only makes the decisions on her own when the applicant is blatantly terrible.

What makes me wary of this is that it is...well, everything, and therefore I'll probably have to get back to you on this.

I looked into your club and it was nothing but rehashed indie bullshit that everybody over at Pitchfork strokes their knobs to. The rest were singers and musicians from sixty years ago that everybody listens to just so that they feel like they have more indie "cred," a few of which, I admittedly like.

I'll give you a shot, though. I sense potential. Send a list (I'm somewhat expecting an album, since my hopes are mildly up) and maybe we can work something out.

Oh, okay. I get it.

A little bit from column A, a little bit from column B. I hardly put taking the time to discover new bands that actually bring something new and interesting to the realm of music on the same level as "having all the time on my hands." I'm sure you have your passions.

But, other than that, yeah, you're pretty much right. You can't be in this club unless I like your list because it means you don't listen to shitty music.

REPRSENT. TRU PUNX.

To put it simply, they just represent a lot of what I don't like about music. I hate their sytle of music. There isn't a whole lot to "post-hardcore" that I can actually say I enjoy; it pretty much extends to me thoroughly enjoying Blood Brothers and At the Drive-In, in other words, the two post-hardcore bands that everybody likes. I also hate how blatantly Christian they are. I am sour towards post-hardcore, I am sour towards Christian rock. I can say one good thing about them, though: the vocalist isn't terrible. All other factors aside, I do enjoy the vocals.

Oh, and I am enemies with Tooth and Nail records.

I seriously find you amusing. You think you are like the queen and master at music. You think you know everything about it, and you think your tastes in music is only acceptable. So if i made a list, of bands I didn't like, but I posted bands you like, just to make you happy, i'm sure you will like that. Seriously, the only elitists you are in is wack music.

Sorry sad.gif

Okay, let's get back on topic. Basically, this group is for people who only like music by how it sounds, but only if no one's ever heard of it before. I wouldn't doubt that AThorpedo or whatever the hell her (or his?) name is has never had a single class of music appreciation or studied an instrument, and judges their music solely by how it sounds. If (s)he doesn't like the way your music sounds, it's because it's not up to the standards that she herself set because she is fooling herself into thinking that she is a musical expert. (Sorry, I gave up on determining your sex and just chose female because I like the way it sounds.) So if you like any of these mystery bands that have mysteriously not made it big yet (I wonder why), and like to deny people their rights to enjoy their music, just because you don't like it, this is the group for you! thumbsup.gif

I apologize for the rant, I just really hate pretentious people.

No, kids, no. Taking the time to explore different types of music and more obscure artists is a GOOD thing, whereas assuming that something is good simply because it's popular is certainly not. Why settle for mediocre music you only think you enjoy just because it's easy to come by? If you only listen to mainstream artists, and when you do try to find new music, you only pick up on bands that sound exactly the same as the stuff you already listen to, that isn't taste. Being open-minded enough to find music you genuinely like is a great thing, but if you pass it off as pretension then you're pretty much hopeless.

You can't assume that something is good or bad from whether it is popular or not. Yes, listen to what you like, but put effort into finding the music that suits you best, and don't settle for something simply because it's catchy and easily accessible.

I see what your saying, and yeah, I agree, but being denied admittance simply because your "top 20" don't coincide with AThorpedo's is really...shitty. I'm not arguing that finding said music is pretentious, I'm saying that Athorpedo is for setting unreasonable standards.

Hmm, I kind of agree with CowerPointyObject's point, but I also think that this club is mislabled.

A music elitist, in my opinion, should have an extensive knowledge of music including all genres; he/she would not restrict herself to mainstream or a certain few genres of music. Therefore, most of us are not eligible for such a title (myself included).

Anyways... Top 20 artists

1 The Birthday Massacre
2 The Beatles
3 Crystal Castles
4 The Cranberries
5 Dido
6 Eisley
7 Freezepop
8 Goldfrapp
9 Ladytron
10 LCD Sounsystem (album) - LCD Soundsystem
11 Metric
12 No Doubt
13 Queen
14 Red Hot Chili Peppers (also enjoy John Frusciante's solo work)
15 Robots in Disguise
16 System of a Down
17 Tori Amos
18 Vanessa Carlton
19 Yeah Yeah Yeahs
20 I'll leave this for bands I'm getting into: Soulwax, Feist, MSTRKRFT, Captain Ahab, The Pipettes, Shiny Toy Guns, Princess Superstar, Dragonette

agreed. i mean, what if i made a list of classical composers; would you be able to judge my music taste/knowledge or whatever?

music is too broad; if you were an elitist you'd probably have to have gone to a music school and studied extensively and have a ph.d in music theology _smile.gif

Are you people insane? How insecure and defensive towards your taste in music do you have to be in order to take this so damned seriously? In order to know anything about music I would have to major in music? Is it really that hard to believe that it is possible to appreciate music and explore it without taking f**king classes for it? As opposed to listening to tons and tons of music for years and years, I have to have a doctorate in music before I can say that I probably know more than you? Are any of you even reading what you are typing? Do you know how marketing music works? How familiar with tongue-in-cheek humor are you, really?

I don't know if it wasn't obvious enough that I wasn't completely serious, even mocking myself at points when I ended a post with something like, "REPRESENT TRU PUNX" but wow do you guys take things seriously. Even my inital post said, "We will be a bowel irritation with a dope record collection." I told that tung idiot that he should be called Mario because he just got one up'd. None of this struck any of you as just a little silly? I can understand being even a little offended by this, but I don't feel like I was being exceptionally cryptic here.

I'm not going to lie, I was a little proud that I was able to embody so much chaos with just one thread telling people that I have better taste than them, but now I'm more confused than anything. I honestly wanted to continue on with this, I really did. I was going to keep telling you guys how you should stop listening to music, and I was going to have a grand old time. It just went over pretty much everybody's head, though.

"If my list isn't like yours, you would just tell me I have shitty taste rarararar." Like, three of you actually tried. Considering how defensive everyone got regarding this issue, I really should have seen more lists. You all obviously feel some sort of passion for the music you like, based on your reactions, so why didn't you give it a shot? If I could at least tell that you were open to exploring music, liked things that are a little different from the norm, and if I could find something respectable regarding your taste, it wouldn't have been this bad. Instead, you just assumed that I was going to hate what you put no matter what. How presumptuous and insecure. Stop being so serious and get silly.

I still want to keep this going. I want to see more lists. I want some opinions of my list after someone has actually listened to the majority of the albums/bands instead of just assuming it's bad. (For the record, if I said you listened to bad bands, it's because I have listened to them; I didn't write them off before hearing them. "It's obscure for a reason." Yeah, because there is no profit to be had in a 3-song E.P. performed by a homeless, alcoholic punk f**ked up on drugs. A band that is a mixture of hardcore punk, screamo, and freeform jazz is not marketable in the least. That's how the industry works, guys.) This can still be fun. Like I said. Stop being so serious and get silly. If you guys feel that sore about it, tell me to make a top 20 for something you are passionate about. I don't know shit about cars. Tell me why I shouldn't be allowed to drive one on the basis that my favorite cars are lame. I don't know shit about fish. Tell me why I'm an idiot for liking those little fish that suck on the sides of the tank. I don't drink. Punch me in the face and tell me that I just need to lighten up and go to a few parties, brah.

I don't want to post this. I want to go back to having fun. I think less of myself for posting this. I don't owe you anything; there is no need for me to explain myself to any of you. So, in other words...

YOU ALL HAVE HORRIBLE TASTE IN MUSIC. MY OPINION IS ABSOLUTE. UP THE PUNX.
I wonder how many of you will get it now.

XD.gif Hahahahaha wowww.

QUOTE(CowerPointyObjects @ Oct 3 2007, 08:36 PM) *

Actually, I had every intention of posting a list, but I got distracted and never got around to it.

But as I am a procrastinator extraordinare, here is a list for you (in no particular order).

1. The New Pornographers- Twin Cinema

-You've establshed your distaste for power-pop, but nevertheless, this album is power-pop perfection, and I love it.
2. Pavement- Brighten the Corners
-I don't care that Slanted and Enchanted is more acclaimed, I prefer this one. Although you really can't go wrong with Pavement at all.
3. Regina Spektor- Mary Ann Meets The Gravediggers And Other Short Stories
-Yeah, it's technically a compilation, but I prefer it as an album to the rest of Regina's stuff. Her most recent album isn't worth acknowledging.
4. Jens Lekman- Oh You're So Silent Jens
-Swedish God. Mhm.
5. Sonic Youth- Goo
6. Yann Tiersen- Yann Tiersen and Shannon Wright

-I discovered this particular album fairly recently, but it struck me more than most anything else has recently.
7. The Postal Service- Give Up
-It doesn't matter what you think of Ben Gibbard; I still adore this album.
8. The Magnetic Fields- I
9. Joanna Newsom- The Milk-Eyed Mender

-No, I don't read Pitchfork. I took a couple of listens to appreciate her voice, but it's amazing.
10. Laura Veirs- Year of Meteors
11. Ted Leo and the Phamacists- Hearts of Oak
12. The Notwist- Neon Golden
13. My Bloody Valentine- Loveless
14. Modest Mouse- The Moon and Antarctica
15. The Cure- Boys Don't Cry
16. France Gall- Poupée de Son
17. The Shins- Oh, Inverted World
18. The Books- Lost and Safe
19. Fiona Apple- Tidal

-What can I say, it got me through my radio rejection period.
20. Neutral Milk Hotel- In the Aeroplane Over the Sea
-Sure, it's cliche at this point, but still lovely.

I figured albums would be more interesting than just a random selection of 20 bands I like, but it's really hard because a lot of my favorite songs aren't on what I'd consider to be my favorite overall album by an artist.

Not a bad list, not a bad list. A number of the bands I at least have respect for. I'm glad that you listed a Modest Mouse album that was pre-Good News (though I would say that my favorite is actually This is a Long Drive). Same idea for Pavement, I like Crooked Rain and Brighten the Corners more than Enchanted. I should start listening to Pavement again. That is also my favorite Books album. I also dig Ted Leo. He puts on a good show.

Also, it seems like you put thought into this and such. You listed albums instead of just artists. Etc.

You're in. One of us. One of us.

Even though yours was done in no particular (I'm pretty sure Dead Kennedys is your definite #1, though) I like that some of ours had the same ranks... and that neither of us can figure out when Johnny Hobo releases shit. I didn't know you liked Passion Slays the Dragon more than The Devil, The Metal, The Big Booty Beats. I also like seeing a compilation on a Top 20, even if it's one that I haven't heard in full and have only listened to when at your house.

One of us. A horse is a horse, of course of course.

Huh? I thought most people did give a list. I see quite a few, and I gave my own.

The ratio was too unbalanced for my liking. Also, I meant to reply to your list in the same post, but forgot about it as soon as I added the reply. I would have just editted it, but instead I said, "f**k it" and went to sleep.

As for your list, there were a few too many bands that I just don't like, especially on a Top 20 list. A few that I mildly enjoy, but a few that I don't like, nonetheless.

I like the cut of your jib, though. You got spunk. You can be the cheerleader, if you so desire.

QUOTE(NoSex @ Oct 4 2007, 01:17 PM) *

Agreed. About half of that was all-time (or at least albums that I still love after listening to them over and over again for a long time now. I Hate Myself was the first screamo band I listened to. Four to five years later and they still blow me away.)

A few months ago, there probably would have been more crust. A few months ago from that, more skramz. And so forth.

QUOTE(misoshiru @ Oct 4 2007, 02:00 PM) *

I like that you added composers, though I am not familiar with a lot of them. I think I'm going to actually look into some of these (at least read Wikipedia entries and then decide which ones I want to look for).

I just have one question. Why do you like Boys Like Girls, Eisley, and Keane? Keane is probably my least hated out of those and I could kind of understand why someone would like Eisley (I just don't find them particularly interesting), so I guess the real question is why Boys Like Girls? Oh, and Billy Joel, why Billy Joel? tongue.gif

QUOTE(MissFits @ Oct 5 2007, 03:18 PM) *
I hope if you have never heard these bands that you check them out.

I have really mixed feelings about this list. I love with Misfits, Danzig only as well. I love Catch 22 and Streetlight Manifesto. The Beach Boys was the first band that I liked ever (so my mom tells me.) The Blue Album was easily my favorite album in middle school. I also like a little Postal Service and am okay with really old Death Cab and Mighty Mighty Bosstones are nostalgic as f**k for me. Also, I'm all right with Rush and I have respect for old Saves the Day (though their later stuff blows penis.) I also saw Maps and Atlases a couple of times a few years ago. They put on a pretty decent show.

But I really don't like 311. I hate seeing The Beatles on Top 20 lists. NOFX and I are enemies. I can't respect any band that has ever been on Drive-Thru records. I always thought Brand New was pretty boring. Not as boring as Underoath or any other band that most other people listen to in conjuction with Brand New, but still.

Do you have a last.fm? Give me some more insight into your tastes. Like I said, mixed feelings.

Why BLG? because I think they can really pump the crowd up. They opened for HelloGoodbye at my school last year and they were so much better than them. I feel that a rising band with so much stage presence should be admired. Why Billy Joel? Everyone loves some Billy Joel.

So, Kimya Dawson takes up way too much of my time and the Violent Femmes murder people. Also, I met Matty Pop Chart a few months ago, and I had no idea that it was him. I'm sad now. Oh, his new band (Good Luck) sucks and is fronted by a huge bitch who likes Wes Anderson way too much.

Oh, yeah. BUMP.

Oh no wonder I couldn't find this, it died before my account got deleted.

It kind of hurts me how everyone loooves Kimya Dawson now, just because of Juno. Because I am a snob and a horrible person, yeah yeah.

The Violent Femmes are great, I just wish the recordings were slightly better. It's annoying having to crank up the volume everytime I want to hear them. If they had shitty lyrics I guess that'd be one thing, but they don't.

I am madly in love with The Radio Dept. And Jens Lekman. I like Swedes. But other than that, lately I've been listening to a lot of post-rock, shoegaze, post-punk, and trying to broaden my hip-hop horizons.

Hmmm...difficult...top 20 artists...this changes all the time.

1. Talking Heads (that one wasn't difficult)
2. The New Pornographers
3. Queen
4. Sigur Ros
5. Sufjan Stevens
6. Joanna Newsom
7. Yann Tiersen
8. Spoon
9. The Shins
10. Penguin Cafe Orchestra
11. Bob Dylan
12. Philip Glass
13. The Clash
14. Architecture in Helsinki
15. The Beatles
16. Belle and Sebastian
17. David Bowie
18. Mark Mothersbaugh
19. The Postal Service
20. Radiohead

That took awhile.

Yeah, it's a pretty general all-time list, and you'd probably see it from anyone, but I'm being honest in saying that these are my favorites.

And, for anyone who knows me and is surprised by the not inclusion of Ted Leo + the Pharmacists, it's because I hate Living with the Living, and this list is of people I can listen to anytime, any album (that's why I didn't do albums, because it would be all of them).

And no one better be dissing my Talking Heads. I could talk about how great and, surprisingly to some, accessible Talking Heads are (were) for hours upon hours.

i'm really surprised at some of the people that seemed angry because of this thread, because i've seen them do the same thing in the past, and it's funny watching the same thing happen to them.

Nicki, I downloaded a bunch of Jens Lekman on your recommendation, and I realized that they play like a bazillion of his songs when I work in Old Navy. I hate them. I'm really mad now.

Wait, you hate his songs? Or you hate Old Navy? Or you hate him because he's played in Old Navy? The fact that he's played there strikes me as really odd, and makes me kind of sad.

Well they play three of his songs all the time and I always hated them when they came on...and then I played one other one and was like, "Oh no...I know this voice..."

Most songs they play I hate. They do play that Sara Barreilles (sp?) song once in a great while though and I love that one.

Which songs do they play? Are you sure it's not just the association? Assuming that you've been listening to his most recent stuff, you might want to check out something older ("Maple Leaves" is my favorite), because Night Falls seems like it'd make a perfectly awful introduction.

That would annoy me too. But you should try to listen to his older stuff, really. In a better situation, he's fantastic. At least I'd imagine that you'd like it, given that our taste is pretty similar.

agreed. i mean, what if i made a list of classical composers; would you be able to judge my music taste/knowledge or whatever?

music is too broad; if you were an elitist you'd probably have to have gone to a music school and studied extensively and have a ph.d in music theology _smile.gif

well this is only for cb so im sure the person with at least the most knowledge of music will win right?

That's the thing... no one has the right to sit here and judge any genre and act like they have the most knowledge in music. That's ignorantly impossible (almost an oxymoron). Unless the genre itself only produces an agenda of lies, down playing, degradation, and brain washing, then you can go ahead and call em' out for what they are. But for f**k sake, this wanker from hicksville is sittin here tryin to tell us all music except his genre sucks. The f**k? I bet I mosh better than this retard. =\

Anyways, I'm outs. I'm gonna end up blowing up a hospital.

I don't think anyone is assuming such a "right." The intent here is to find people that are passionate about music, have a refined taste (in that they have done enough searching that their list is personal and interesting), and can intelligently discuss music. Of course, to an extent, there is a deal of personal bias, but this isn't something that should be taken so seriously. If you actually read the thread, you might have already understood these things.

Genre? There are many genres represented here.
Your evaluation of the situation really highlights your ignorance of it.

Slam dance better? That doesn't make any sense. That whole idea is entirely counter-intuitive. Moshing us to be about chaos - indiscriminate chaos. Kids shuffled around in a pit and harmlessly bounced off of one another (though we all know it's not exactly harmless). Being better at that doesn't really make much sense. You seem to be suggesting some sort of machismo superiority here... do you like target the kids who dress differently than yourself and elbow in the face? If so, very uncool. That's the kind of shit the ruined hardcore, and has been ruining rock music ever since the 1970's.

I just sat there and read 2 pages... all he did was make fun of the titles people listed AND slammed them for it. And the only thing that's ruining rock music is rock itself. The originality of it no longer exists. Rock is pretty much dead. Don't get me wrong, it's a great genre but it's pretty much dead. Talk about beatin a dead horse.

edit/ huh, I didn't stop to actually read the thread. I don't really have any interest in applying to whatever club (I guess I didn't really read the title of the thread, either). The only thing I read was "list your top 20 fav artist/albums" and felt like looking through my ipod and trying to find my top 20 artist/album. I'm not interested in whoever's trying to judge my taste in music. I like what makes me happy and that's that.

/edit

hm, top 20 artists? I've never EVER stopped to think about this, so here goes nothing...

1. Of Montreal
2. Scissor Sisters
3. The Cure
4. Belle & Sebastian
5. Daft Punk
6. The Shins
7. Yo La Tengo
8. Tokyo Police Club
9. Cake
10. Billie the Vision and the Dancers
11. Andy Williams
12. David Bowie
13. Billy Joel
14. The Turtles
15. Dandy Warhols
16. Shiny Toy Guns
17. I'm from Barcelona
18. The Killers
19. Girl Talk
20. Lupe Fiasco

ABBA
The Arcade Fire
Architecture in Helsinki
Badly Drawn Boy
Band of Horses
Built to Spill
Celestial Aeon Project
The Click Five (i can't help myself, dammit)
David and the Citizens
The Doors
Echo and the Bunnymen
Editors
Honest Bob and the Factory-to-Dealer Incentives
Hootie and the Blowfish
Islands
Kings of Convenience
Muse
Neutral Milk Hotel
The Offspring
OK Go
Okkervil River
Royksopp
Simon & Garfunkel
Stars
Tilly and the Wall
Tokyo Police Club
A Tribe Called Quest
TV on the Radio
The Unicorns

blah, yes, I did just go through my ipod and write down all the bands that I like just a little bit more than the rest - and since I have to go, I'll edit this and narrow this down in a bit. it's really hard not putting everything down!!

this should be a top 50 list. :(

Okay, I'm sure I'm probably going to get bashed in this thing. But you know I really don't care, I can see that the guy who started this forum is a tad bit crazy, but lets see how this goes. But I won't discriminate, cuz I myself am a tad bit crazy.

1. We Don't Need To Whisper - Angels & Airwaves
2. A Beauitful Lie - 30 Seconds To Mars
3. Johnny Cash
4. Nevermind - Nirvana
5. Rio - Duran Duran
6. Meteora - Linkin Park
7. The Open Door - Evanescence
8. Riot - Paramore
10. The Conquest - All Left Out
11. The Beauitful Unkown - Foreverinmotion
12. Awake - Secondhand Serenade
13. The Shade of Poison Tree's - Dashboard Confessional
14. Don't You Fake It - The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus
15. Angels & Devils - Fuel
16. Blink 182 - Blink 182
17. End of Silence - Red
18. Underclass Hero - Sum 41
19. The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
20. Indestructible - Disturbed

Btw has the person who originally started this topic even checked it since it died in november?

It's ok, I can be a pretentious douchebag too. And good god you're making it easy. No genre diversity, nothing outside of the mainstream, nothing that comes even close to suggesting taste, NU-METAL!!!!, Johnny Cash is not an album, and for the love of god how can you listen to Secondhand Serenade without your ears bleeding?

Urm tell me, Foreverinmotion isn't mainstream. Red isn't mainstream. Duran Duran, is a classic that I fell upon digging through my moms old cd's. All left out is a band from new zealand that I'm sure you've probably never heard before. Hmm, I realized I'd get bashed cuz everyone always thinks that just because someone likes mainstream music means that they are completely brainwashed. MOst of the time I found these groups without even turning on the radio.

That doesn't make it better music. If Duran Duran is the best thing on someone's list, that's an issue.

Haha, well whoever started this sure was making an issue by trying to force his tastes in music upon other people, but hey, I'm going to give you props for doing a pretty good job on keeping the ball going 8 months after its death. ^_~

And I'm not saying its BETTER, than anyone elses taste in music (unless you listen to Miley Cyrus, The Jonas Brothers, or High School Musical) I believe that music is whatever you make it out to be, and your music can be whatever you want it to be. (as long as you aren't Miley Cyrus.)

I would like to call for the closing of this thread so that we can (for a time) not have to deal with the irrational missuse of forum space.
