So is anyone on createblog a Wiccan? I was just wondering because I was just talking about this in the createblog chat with Ryan and Roxanne. Hehe. I told them of how I dabbled with it a little bit, and two out of the two spells that I tried...worked. happy.gif

I was very interested in it a while ago, but I never tried out any of the 'spells' because I didn't think any of them would work...

I also "dabbled" in it. It was really neat ... and some of the spells that I did worked also. Infact, I think that I still have one or two of the books that I used.

I'm addicted to the TV show Charmed though. It is all about Wicca and Witches, deamons, and angels. What I wouldn't give to have some sort of REAL power over my life. _smile.gif

That is not what a Wiccan is. Wiccan is a pagan religion, which is basically open to all religions, but they worship nature (earth, water, fire...the universe, etc.). They believe in Gods, and Goddesses and yes they can cast spells but it not like being a witch in the "scary" sense of the word. They strive to achieve balance and harmony within nature

My hubby is pagan/wiccan, and I do know three bonified witches (white witches though). A white witch is not an evil witch either...they practice white magic as opposed to the black magic that other (black)witches may perform. The white and black is not the color of their skin either, it's their title persay.

Thats because if you cast a spell it holds the potential to come back on you 3 X's fold

Hey, i'm totally a wizard.

One night, I sat down outside a grave yard and constructed a mini-bonfire. I chanted "oka lakka teke" for 3 hours straight, it was supposed to be some attraction spell. Then I masturbated into the fire..and went home.

The next day, I went up to this girl I liked and told her that she was cute. She said "aww, thank you". Wooo, she ackowledged my existence!

Oh man, the spell totally worked. _dry.gif

Thank you! I'm so sick of people claiming that Wiccans "worship the devil," yet how can one worship a nonexistant figure in your religion? x_X

I wouldn't call myself Wiccan, because I'm still exploring my spirituality, but Wicca has come the closest to my beliefs and I still consider it as a possibility...

I also hate it when people know a teensy bit about Wicca and then claim themselves to be an experienced witch, and preach Wiccan beliefs (which they often get wrong)... -_-
No name dropping here... Just some people I've come across... ^_^

My friend is Wiccan and I was into it for a few times, but one of the spells actually worked for me, then it just lost it's colors. I don't think i would abandon my religion for Wiccan, my parents would be mad and I'd probably regret it.

well, its something about some invisible person who was supposed to protect her, but she kept disappearing, and there was this other person who was going to get her, and that theyd keep bothering her even after she stopped practicing wicca.

i dont know. talking about this makes me sound a good deal more ignorant than i actually am. i just havent thought about wicca at all in the last 2 years =/

Well, if you perform a spell, then it can come back to you three fold. Meaning the aftermath will be 3 times more painful for you than the spell you did. Painful meaning physical or mental or something. Not quite sure, but that's what I heard.

No actually, it is trying to prevent you from doing selfish spells.

An example, my friend cast a spell to make her skinnier for a dance. She was for that night, but the next day the weight came back times 3. But only for a day.

Wicca is not about changing yourself or punishing others. It is very intune with nature and tries to keep a balance. Screwing with the balance just comes back to. It is karma, nothing more.

Contrary to what most people wish to believe, Wicca is a very peaceful, harmonious and balanced way of thinking, an earth religion if you want. I believe it is the oldest religion, definitely pre-Christian, and we don't worship Satan or the devil because we don't believe in it. We believe that the earth is a mother to us all and we should honor and respect her and live a harmonious life. We don't own the earth but we are part of it and to destroy it means to destroy ourselves. We respect life above all. Respect for life and free thought I'd say are the basics for Wicca. We respect every other religion because we think all gods and goddesses are the same. People just worship them in a different way. Wicca is often mistakenly associated with evil, but we believe in Karma and if we do something bad it comes back to haunt us, as a godsmack! That's the basic creed, harm none. We don't sacrifice people and we don't sacrifice animals because we believe in harming no one. We also don't worship Satan; he is a Christian creation and they can keep him. Wicca doesn't work with fear. It's about your own consciousness and doing what's right. We believe in the Law of Three: whatever you do comes back three fold, good or bad. [sully erna-godsmack]

^ I have always had that misconception about Wicca. I have always thought it was associated with very destructive type witchcraft.

Wiccan does sound very interesting to learn, but Im black, It would not look right for a brother like me to practice magick.

I always get pissed off when people relate wicca to traditional satanism.
I am a modern satanist btw, not wiccan, a witch, or traditional satanist.

That's not all Wiccans are.

Wicca is a modern(yes modern, don't start with that ancient stuff, the 50s were a while back but not ancient!) pagan religion. It's focuse on a dual-diety and nature. There are different Wiccan groups however so anything after what I said before can differ greatly. There are Gardnerian, Dianic, Alexandrian and so many other types of wicca. Those are just some of the main ones. Oh and if you are a wiccan or considering it please please please read these following links. I'm not a Wiccan but I know tons of wiccans and these are my top picks for Wiccans and curious people.

Why Wiccans Suck
-I know, the name sounds harsh and this is a harsh site but its VERY good for wiccans and pagans alike. It takes fluffy bunnies misconceptions and throws them out the window...after beating them silly lol.

Wicca: For the rest of us.
-Another site to "de-fluffy" potential and current wiccans. Again though, this site can help with general or "eclectic" pagans as well. The information is presented a tad softer than the previous website but still good and sound information. You may want to read this site before checking out the one above it if you aren't sure you can handle its bluntness.

The Obsidian Mirror
-This site isn't as well known as the other two but has some great information. This one is pretty harsh too. It even comes with a little disclaimer at the begining. It doesn't just focus on witchcraft and wicca either. Its got lots of articles.

The Witches Way
-Now this is probably the softest and the most general of all the sites above. This site even has a great article on satanism I highly reccomend. Also the site-owner/operator is a very cool lady!

And finally...
Mystic Wicks
-My favourite pagan site. Its acctually a Pagan forum site. Its one of the largest pagan forum sites on the net. Its got thousands of members and tons of information. Also, this site(as of almost 2 years ago) now features member-run classes on varied subjects.

Anyways, I know you're probably wondering if I'm even wiccan. No, I'm not. When I first became interested in Paganism I called myself a wiccan. It was the first pagan path I was introduced to and I was like a sponge. But over time I really opened my eyes and explored my beliefs and myself. I now fit under the "Eclectic Pagan" belief. It might seem like I dislike wiccans or think many believe the wrong things. That's a "no" on both of those topics. I've just seen one to many "Wiccans" with their heads up their butts lol. happy.gif

Sorry dear, Wicca isn't the oldest religion. The categorey it falls into, "Paganism" is quite ancient. But I don't even think it is the oldest religion on earth. Wicca I can safely say isn't. Wicca is based on some very old beliefs but the religion itself was created in the 1950's by Gerald Gardener. Not that it's a bad thing. All religions were new at one point.

I've been a practicing Solitary Wiccan for many years.

Feel free to delete if someone has already done this, but: Wiki'd Wicca =)

Not the most extensive as far as research goes, but does well for the cliff notes version of what Wicca is about.

PS - It's not about SPELLS!!! I swear some folks here need to stop relying on shows like Charmed, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the movie "The Craft", etc for their information. laugh.gif

PSS - I think I spelled "cliff notes" wrong. laugh.gif

Magic is hardly anything like anyone is lead to believe. Its not anything like movies or television. No sparkly lights or clouds of smoke. Its rather simple in appearence and not for entertainment purposes. Not to imply that its really hard. Magic can be simple to use. But its just not something to do cause it might be "cool". Its hardly entertaning. Unless you need it for a specific purpose I really have never found it to be all that visually stimulating. Although some people do put on grand and high-energy rituals when using magic although many just do things quietly and simple like myself. Magic(if going by a generalized pagan belief) is basically focusing our own personal energy and the energy contained in the cosmos to help us achieve some goal. Weather its help on a test or money or anything else.

Um they don't exactly use "magic". They channel nature's "powers" and use their surroundings to make "miracles" happen. In the book Mists of Avalon, they called Wicca the Old Religion (I don't know why I brought that up).

I've read up and in all my books, it is an OLD religion going back farther than the 50s. Gerald Gardner (yes, that's how you spell it) showed the world the religion, but he most definitely did not invent it.

Get your facts straight!

I used to be really into it from 2 - 6th grade. Then I started questioning religion in general, and now I don't have a religion. I just believe in God, but I don't restrict myself to guidlines and rules that everyone THINKS God wanted. I just know what's wrong, and what's right and that God will love me as long as I try to live my life as well as I can.
