I'd like to bring up a "if cB had clans/guilds" idea.

(yeah, this is mainly towards the graphic design community of cb)

Well, yeah, some of the GFX forums I go to, they have like teams, or clans, or guilds. I think the idea of it is really fun and brings out the design part of createblog more than ever.. I mean, I just think it'd be a good idea since I see there are a lot of great designers on this forum, it'd be great to see them on different teams and have harmless 1v1 (or whole, or 2v2, etc.) team battles to represent their own teams. it's all for fun, since the only thing we can do on here is show off our graphics or submit them for use. and instead of those really really long contests that have long signups and take forever to finish, it could be an extremely quick battle between some for fun. And then some team battles, like I suggested before, that happen every now and then. :P I guess it's also a good way to share your skills with team members and stuff. Hehe. Great way to learn and to get help easily. (and make new friendsssss wheeeeee)

I guess if you think about it, it's a lot like those clubs we used to have. Like Team Late Night a while back, but they were sorta banned, ehhh.

Except this is graphic-wise, so I dont know if it'd make a difference, but meh. worth a try.

How do the battles go? Just one on one randomly timed battles?

Yeah. Basically that. They'd create a thread with the theme, asking for someone else who'd compete, and then later put up an official entry/voting thread. Then somewhere later comes in the results. Could be one on one or paired battles. IE: me and bob from team cool wants competitors. Then sally and jack come in from team awesome and compete. It's free-for-all, whenever you want it, battles.

This beats the lengthy contests we usually have.

By voting. They have their own subforms. Team Battles (where they set it up) - Battle Voting - Battle Results.

I propose that we have a collab contest, where people get into groups of 2. If it works well and people don't have problems contacting and communicating with others, we can have larger groups/clans/guilds.

If you want to start with something else, now's the time. :)

Well I guess since I had the idea I'll take responsibility for the first round? Basically when voting comes, no polls are made. Just a topic and people reply to who they vote for and give reasons on why it's better than the other or something so that it's valid and not just someone voting for someone because they were bribed or whatever.
And no, judges are generally not needed but I mean, I guess for the first few they could take judges since I mean we don't know how it'll turn out yet.

Sounds like a good idea. HEck if you make some guidelines like min-max of people in a guild and etc etc you can make a thread now (ask a mod to pin it) so people can post there guilds. People seem interested.

Okay, well, Toya I guess I'll make a topic but, um, before I do, I wanna see how the general outlines seem to you guys. And if you guys wanna add anything or remove anything, etc.


- Maximum number of people per guild is 8? 7? 6? (at the moment).
Um, the number will depend on how many people yo think will sign up though. :/ Because I don't wanna see like 2 guilds with 50 people. Haha.

Uh, note that a max number is just a max. Don't have to have an exact amountttt lol. And basically you need to have someone who will create the name of the guild (the leader of the guild, s/he will be in charge of like guild battles or whatever goes inside the guild) and start a topic on application things and to keep from spam, I'm thinking that the applications should be PMed to the leader and the leader will make a decision or ask the guild, whatever floats their boat. x]
You can show your guild pride by putting it in your sig or something? :P Create a logo? Have fun? XD

- Competitions; (Keep in mind this is all funnn, I know how competitive some people can get )
~ graphic battles - Um, yeah, basically two (or three I guess xD) people go against each other in different guilds to represent their guilds and give their guild a good name. (Though you dont HAVE to be in a guild to do this, anyone can xD) Umm, I don't know how this'll work here, but I'm thinking of having a battle forum where someone makes a topic if they wanna battle and ask for a competitor or you call someone out :O!

~ Guild vs Guild - Um, I don't think this'll happen often but basically have all guilds who want to compete sign up (though the whole guild will have to participate or at least most of it) and do some tournamnent-like battles until we get to the one winner. I don't think this'll be done a lot cuz you know, it's like one of those hecka long contests we have here so I mean yeah. :P

~ Partners/Groups of 3-4 Battles - Basically it works like 1v1 graphic battles except you have a partner or a group and you all work together to create the best piece of art you can fitting the theme.

~ guildmates vs guildmates? - People inside the guild battle each other buahaha. xD Supposed to be fun for the guild, thazzzzit.

-How voting would work?
Um, well, under a new section (or somethinggg.. xD) there's gonna be a voting section where you vote.. haha. NO POLLS, though. Um basically one of the competitors starts up a new topic on voting, gives the theme (if any, or just say freestyle), and shows the piece of artwork. No name will be displayed though, just like;

so (hopefully) that it can prevent favoritism or something. But then this might not really work because if you have your name on your graphic for credits then people will still know whose is whose. And like yeahhhhh.. lol. And um, set a dateline for which it'll end and you both count the votes so it's fair ;]]]
Then I guess someone can change the topic title or something to who won or have a pinned topic on results and how many times someone has won. :P Woot hall of fame.

~ And when you're the votER, you say in a POST which graphic you think fits the theme best or something and give some reasons on why you like it better. There should be a requirement on how many posts you should have to vote so yeah, you know.

How about 5? We have many active designers so I hope there'll be a handful of guilds. If it's too much, then 4?

Yup @ the sign-ups. How would guilds be made? People get together and decide on guilds and the guild-leader themselves or is there an official process/application?

and people who apply with higher status should be the guild leaders...official designers, official members, and so on...
