You know how when cB sees drama, a lot of people like to butt in and say how pathetic it is that people get so worked up over the internet? Like, the eDrama/eAnger/eWhatever is stupid and people shouldn't be concerned about it cause it's online and not real life?

But, I always thought that didn't make sense because whether or not it's offline/online, people are still interacting with one another, talking about stuff, exchanging opinions/ideas. Also, some of the stuff can easily escalate (verbally) worse than IRL because people think the computer screen can protect them if they something truly nasty. And an insult/racist comment/jab is still an insult/racist comment/jab online as it's in real life.

I mean, if a random person you don't know walks up to you and insults you and then runs away before you can do anything about it, people can't just tell you to forget because you don't know the person, etc. Just like how you can't really do anything about online drama but it still affects you.

I'm bored, cB is kinda slow today.

The three posters above me are idiots. _smile.gif Every poster that quote this post is an idiot. The poster below me that draws an "arrow" hoping it will allow them to criticize me without being an idiot is the biggest idiot out of the bunch.

it's difficult for me to understand why people are such asses online. and the whole "because i can" excuse is stupid.

why is it so hard for people to act the same way online as they do offline?

and why are people asses offline as well?

humans suck.

The best thing about e-fights is if they're super UGLY, I feel so much better about myself.

I mean, seriously, taking offense from someone who takes the internet too much to heart and has the ugly disease is kinda sad.

But whatever, internet is real to some. I enjoy being on cB, so does that make internet my entire life? Not really.

I don't think I even answered what your original post was. It was too confusing.

Well, that is the excuse. They can. People can say so much more behind a computer screen when they aren't looking directly at someone, when they have no intention of ever meeting this person face to face. It's not that they're different, it's just the fact that online, they say what they want to say, whereas in person, most of the time people are a little more reserved and keep things in. There's also the fact that people type much differently than they speak. Their personalities definitely don't perfectly translate from online to real life.

Or you could be like me and just hold almost everything in no matter what situation you're in. *shrug*

I think it's.. stupid mellow.gif

It makes enough sense that yes, it's still interacting and being social with other human beings and conflict will always be there, but e-fighting just for the hell of it is just ridiculous.

If anyone said anything bad about me online, I couldn't care less.
It's just words on a screen.

Anyone can be a complete 100% different person online than what they really are in RL, so honestly things online don't affect me that much.

I don't think I'm that different offline. I talk the same way and react the same way...I don't know; I'll ask the people that I know offline that come on here and get their opinions, haha.

That would kick people who are different into gear. Once someone you know offline comes on here, you can't act different. They'll know.

I do dislike online conversations because when people are expressing their "true" feelings they are not expressing it the way they would "IRL". i don't know... people are much more blunt. is it because they are afraid of confrontation? possibly.

sucks.

Most people have thoughts they keep to themselves, because they're taught not to speak that way. It's not that they don't WANT to say those things, it's just that they're taught that they shouldn't. Online, somehow it's different because they have this anonymity factor which somehow makes it okay to talk however they want to other people. I'm not saying it's right or that I act like this, I'm just giving a reason as to why others do. It feels good to say what you want to say, and it's easier to do it when you're not looking at the person face-to-face.

eDrama is funny.

Especially when people I know in real life type up a super long bitch-out message on MySpace and send it to me like lololol i showed her!! And instead of typing up a message in return, I come to school and punch them in the face.

I have never hated someone through a computer screen, nor have I truly loved anyone through a computer screen, nor have I been hurt by someone through a computer screen. Because 1) I don't know them 2) they don't know me.

Now if someone who has been my friend and earned my respect tells me the same thing a shapeless form on my computer screen tells me, I will take it to heart. Otherwise, no. ASCII will not make me weep which is why I think people who let it need to get a life. _smile.gif

I'm not saying eDrama is mad real or anything.

I'm saying it's a stupid argument that you're not suppose to take offense to something on the internet just because it's online and it's coming from someone you don't know.

hrm, well i could understand when people have opinions they would want to express bluntly. but it's different when people intentionally start drama just for fun or because it makes them feel good making others feel bad. heh, i guess i answered my own question, but i still don't understand how a person could feel good making another feel bad (given that the said person was never wronged by the other in the first place).
