outline an image. Options

hi okay. i was looking through the tutorials of photoshop. so heres the thing. i've been trying and using the tutorials. and some of them aren't helping, like i don't know how to use the pen tool, cause it's confusing. and this topic didn't help much. http://www.createblog.com/tutorials/tutorial.php?id=711 so i don't know what to do. is there any easy way to learn?

What I do, is cut out the image I want, paste it onto the canvas needed. Then go up to Layer, and go down to layer style and choose "stroke"

i use 7.0 photoshop is it the same as cs3? i suppose so, i'll give it a try thanks!

Hey now! It doesnt matter which computer I have!

It depends on the version of ps. I've never had experience with any photoshop versions lower than cs2, so I wouldnt know how everything looks, and where everything looks.

I guess, we're going to have to wait until the topic starter replies.

It should work if you cut it out perfectly in Ps7. I've used it before, and yep, I can tell you now I've gotten it to work. Basically, I rendered/cut it out on a new layer, and then on that layer, stroked the girl. It looks really bad though (the stroke around the person). Hahaha. You gotta make sure the layout is transparent first though. Around the girl, it should be transparet and it should work.

i have vista and its fine... if anything my computer is much faster =)
well my internet went down the drain though.... this computer's connection is wireless... so the internets slow...

i still wouldnt recommend vista. granted it does look prettier, and i suppose the "gadgets" are pretty nifty, but they do get in the way. and the idea that everything will be running off of it troubles me.

see, i hate vista so much because we were the first batch of people to get it. we got it.. 3 days before everyone. we couldnt go on the internet for a month, we couldnt even install games for a month and a half. every time we tried, the computer crashed and died. we spent a grand total of... 7 hours on the phone with verizon online, dell, and maxis. (the sims)

ugh. now i'm mad. what was i talking about again? oh outlining an image. lol use the stoke tool.
