can accept their own things they submit? Like I mean of course if you're going to submit something you're gunna accept it. Don't you think someone else should accept / reject your work? I dunno I just don't think whoever accepts / rejects things submitted should review their own work.

Or am I totally trippin?

Most of the design staff choose to not accept their own work and wait for another mod to accept/reject it.

I believe once there was a reminder posted Backstage about not accepting your own stuff.

I always wait for someone else to view it, and I'm pretty sure most all of the other Design staff do as well.

I saw it recently with one of the newer design staff; that's why I was just wondering.

Oh okay, I didn't mean to cause trouble or anything. I dunno I just didn't think it was acceptable or whatever.

Usually the staff shouldn't approve their own graphics. Most do it out of honesty... even if you know it'll get accepted it's nice to let someone else do it. It's an unwritten rule because it tends to be common sense-ish.

heh sammi used to accept her own layouts all the time, and me or nick would have to delete them while she wasnt signed on.

We've cleared this up and it is that its not a rule but its HIGHLY SUGGESTED. If you continue to see one or the same moderator accepting his or own graphics you can report it too, because as you stated its not fair. Especially if they shouldn't have been accepted, we will reject it and talk to them about it.

With Mike, he already knows about this, the only reason it was really done was because it was in the middle of the queue and he wasn't aware of what to do. Its been cleared up before posting so you really shouldn't see it happening often anymore. Some circustances permit it. So yea its not bad all the time.

QUOTE(brownsugar @ Aug 10 2007, 06:33 AM) *
Also, if a staff member accepts their own layout/graphic/script--it isn't a crime. If it's a good layout/graphic sure it's preferred that another person review it, but there isn't going to be a punishment given out if a staff member accepts their own helpful script.

Yeah, it would be nice for someone else to look at it..but if you are in the middle of queue (like Mike), and you see your own tutorial and it's a damn good one...it isn't a bad thing to accept it.

Plus, who's to say he didn't show another moderator the link to it and asked what they thought about it, and then accepted it? I know people have done that with me in the past.

I didn't know the situation that's why I was asking if it was allowed. I wasn't trying to get him in trouble I was just curious.

So if you in the middle of a queue and you run across your work, you have to accept it because you can't skip over it?

No but you can't skip. There are other alternatives which were brought up to everyone else on staff. Like Suzzette said they can ask for a second opinion and then accept it So pretty much there are alternate methods which everyone is aware of.

I usually wait for another mod to check the queue and decide whether my submission should be accepted or not. Cause yeah, it would be kinda unfair and selfish to simply automatically approve your own work.

I mostly wait for someone else to accept. The only time I accept something of my own is when my layout is the last layout left in the queue... and the queue would be so much more pretty with 0 layouts instead of 1. But that's the only exception. biggrin.gif
