My friend from high school just won the 2007 Miss NY Chinese Beauty Pageant.  I think it's amazing that she won (although, I knew she was a sure win). This association's beauty pageants are pretty famous in Chinese culture. I think it's crazy that someone I know won. Have you ever known someone/were good friends with someone who gained some fame for something amazing? Did they accomplish something or achieved something that you think is so over your head? Like, save someone from a burning building or invent some crazy new thing that scientists are going gaga over? |

I know a bunch of bands that were garage bands for some time but they finally made it big time and now forget about us little people.

well my dad was an actor when he was a kid, and my mom`s cousin is an actress in the philippines.
there`s one relative who won a million pesos on a game show, and my uncle`s *from marriage* niece is a new actress in the philippines. what i`d give to be in their shoes..

The only thing I can think that even comes CLOSE is my friend's uncle is Richard Linklater.. (aka director of School of Rock, Dazed and Confused, etc.) Thats all though, and I've never even met the guy (the uncle that is).
I don't know any famous people myself though

This isn't really like knowing someone big but my good friend was friends with benefits with Journey's lead singer's niece. Once, we were chilling and talking to this girl and a Journey song came on. I asked her if she knew the band Journey. She's like yeah. I asked if she knows who the lead singer is. She's like yeah. I told her that he had a niece and that my friend had banged her. She's like NO WAY. Okay... nvm. Random story. |

Erm...the closest thing to 'famous' that I can think of is I know 2 different people from my high school that graduated before me made it into the top 20 for Canadian Idol.
 Yeaaah...thats about it.

I had a buddy who once saved a building from a burning baby who gave him a disease which turned him into a superhero and scientists said "gaga" then shot him full of tranquilizers and disected his body. Needless to say, I never saw him again. Poor, poor Roberto.
Thats not true. It was the burning baby that sort of gave it away. I dont know anyone who is famous, but a lot of people know me. Then they can all say "I knew him" when I take a kayak down the niagra falls. |

One girl from my school was in one of the starburst commercials. And I also know a girl who went onto broadway to perform in the musical Carousel [She was Louise] and she is now going onto broadway to be Wendy in Peter Pan. And a guy I know is going to be in the sitcom Days of Our Lives. I think that's it... I forget exactly, but anyways, he is going to be making a few apearances on it. Also, one of my friend's cousin is the drummer from Circa Survive. And there are two bands from my school that are getting pretty big. Or big enough for a small town band.
