Should people who think America sucks so bad stay in America? I personally think that if you hate the country so much, and all you do is bitch and moan about it, then you should pack yo bags :)

That or try to do something about it.

Yeah, there's really no point in staying if you don't like it.

Some people can't afford to leave though.

I like America but I don't agree with a lot America has done and doing now. The people that hate America might not have the money to leave.

I never heard someone crying about living in America. If I did I don't remember. These people can complain all they want. There is freedon of speech. Once they go somewhere else they're going to realize how America is better.

I think an American has the right to complain. My family has been here for hundreds of years and fought in just about every war... so I feel like I have every right to question how things are being handled.

I see that such called "Freedom Of Speech" is very important to you, but let me ask you something, does that "Freedom Of Speech" fills your stomak too? I really doubt it. It doesn't really matter if you ARE allowed to cry or complain about, what matters is that noone is doing anything about it, so its all just plain simple words trown in vain after whom you are more hungry then before.

But sitting there and complaining while not trying to do anything isn't exactly beneficial by any means. People who bitch and moan just add to the problem.

What does someone being hungry have anything to do with this? These people that just complain and complain, just let them. I just go on with my life and I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one, so when they see the world moving on, they have one option rather they want to stay or join with us.

i completely agree

this is only my personal experience, but the people i know that bitch and complain about america, are the same people who don't register to vote, and don't intend on helping change anything. they just wanna complain

I love America, with that said though, one of the things that I love about America is that people are free to complain. It's one of the basic rights in America that people take for granted.

It's in the Constitution folks. Let them have their say and you can argue with them.

I haven't got anything against complaining. I've got an issue with people who complain and aren't willing to do anything about it other than pester others.

Bad attitude right there, IMO. If you really want to, you can do much more than just vote. Voting is the minimum one should do for their country. You can get involved in political organizations, groups, etc. You can try to spread awareness, or try to convince others to vote. You can start groups that help you out with those goals. There have been people in high school that have made differences. It may not be something that goes down in text books, but I'm positive that there have been those extraordinary individuals.

People like to complain, thats what people do.

Some might think america sucks, but think other countries suck a lot more.

Also, I dont know how old you are, but alot of my friend complain about it and cant leave or get involved because they are too young.

14 year olds cant just hop on a plane and move to asia.

I think every citizen has the right to criticize his / her country afterall, it is your country. However, I don't with when non Belgians (I'll use Belgium because I'm not American) say; I hate Belgium, the weather sucks, the country is boring, my country is better yadi yada. That's a no - no. If you hate it that much, try to do something that could help improve it for you or GTFO.

im saying that every country has its good sides and its bad sides...oftentimes, i believe that the bad/evil america has done outweighs the good, but that doesn't mean it sucks entirely. and there are lots of other countries to live in that offer similar/the same "benefits" america does

i didn't say anything about more or less evil...and with money/power/privilege one can live anywhere and be just as satisfied as if they lived in america...the point is too many people think america is the best country in the world and the fact is, it just is not. america is a rich man's heaven and a poor man's prison, but since you're probably not poor, you wouldn't understand

i suppose when you think of poor people in america you think of tenement buildings or the "projects" but there are poor people in america who live without electricity, healthy drinking water or running water period and they've gone days without eating...and although it's not as extreme as africa, those are the same conditions many africans live through.

and i lived in england and i've lived in jamaica...i've been to france, italy, aruba, canada, bermuda, zimbabwe, ireland, mexico, the dominican republic, haiti, brazil, and antigua...i think thats all...and i'm going to tahiti this christmas...my travel experiences greatly influence my thought, just in case you couldn't tell =]

i wouldnt want to be poor at all...and i definitely wouldn't want to be poor in america. to be quite frank, america shits on the poor and whether you believe me or not is of your own accord. in none of the countries i've visited are the government officials so against helping those who cannot help themselves.

^For the most part it seems America "shits" on the poor who beg instead of going out and trying to do something to better themselves. I know not everyone has the luxury of bettering themselves and begging is the final option, but there are plenty of able-bodied people who can get off their street corner and try to get a job.

steven, i want u 2 tell me what is the point of leaving the street corner, where one might sell drugs or panhandle or sell bootleg videos/CDs for a job where the minimum wage is $5.50 an hour. with $5.50 an hour you cannot pay for health care, save money for a rainy day, afford an apartment, etc. can you please tell where is the point in getting a legal job in america? america shits on anyone who cannot help themselves, that's why the poor pay the most taxes and the rich get tax breaks. but i've never been rich, i don't know how hard that shit may be, but i do know that as a middle-class american citizen who once struggled, that america helps no one. welfare programs have been cut, health care is virtually non existent, gas prices are way too high, homes are going into foreclosure left and right, unemployment rates climb, the number of african americans suffering from HIV/AIDS is growing as we speak, more and more african american men are dropping out of high school...and you're going to tell me that america helps people?

HIV/AIDS can be avoided by sanitation/not having sex with everyone.
If they were born into poverty conditions, I don't have much to say on their behalf.
My main gripe is the people who are at the minimum scraping by, and they choose to drop out of high school because they don't think that they have a future in the working world. People who don't try to make something of themselves quite frankly don't have the right to complain about not having money.
Welfare is very much existent. It's very abused as well. I could probably find some charts and statistics on welfare if you'd like.

They don't have to work for 5.50$ / hr. There are a lot of companies who will give you a shot to ear more money (even if it's not a good amount of money) if you prove to be willing to learn, have a good attitude, look smart, and show enthusiasm. A lot of businesses will put you through the training for the job as that's the easy part. The hard part is finding the employee that can and will do the job well. There's also the military. The military is my failsafe. The military houses you, feeds you, trains you, pays you, and gives you something huge to put on your resume. They'll give you a lifetime career. Sure you might get shot at and stuff, but how's that worse than living in nasty areas of town, living under bridges and off street corners?

i agree with steven, i was referring mostly to the people who don't try

and if they were born into poverty then that sucks, and i agree they should get help, but just because u were born into it isn't a reason to just quit and accept it. my dad was born into poverty, and now he's not, so i think its possible to be done. staying in school would be a good start, u said more and more black men are dropping out of high school. i'm a black man who didn't drop out of high school, that's their own choice, by doing that they are setting themselves up for poverty and not being able to get a good job.

SoEffinMajor i STILL want to know, IF u had to be poor, what country would u want to be poor in

Boyfriend recently came back from Japan, and he like always says how America sucks. I would love to move to another country to experience if that statement is true, but I really have no complaints. If you want something to happen, you do it yourself.

i've lived in jamaica and i've spent time visiting jamaica, so if i had 2 be poor i'd live in jamaica...i lived with family members who suffered from poverty in the country and i know one thing is for sure, you don't have to go hungry. u may not have fancy clothes or more than one pair of shoes, but people are always willing to help you out by giving food...u know someone who grows breadfruit, or has a mango tree and they're willing to share with u...in jamaica you aren't treated like a poor person, you're treated like a person who needs help...and there is a big difference

1. yes, HIV/AIDS can be prevented by not fostering in promiscuity, however it can also be prevented by using condoms...which aren't provided for free because there aren't many free clinics anymore...reagan cut that

2. poverty can be reversed with proper education, unfortunately many whites fled the city forcing african americans into these areas...businessmen/women left because they didn't want to serve african american communities. as a result these african american communities became what we know as, impoverished areas. unfortunately, many of these impoverished areas do not offer adequate schooling (i.e., schools in washington, d.c. and baltimore, maryland)

3. on the welfare, could you please find some statistics for me, because it is very hard for women to get welfare, well, minority women that is. these women have to have a certain number of children before they can receive a decent amount of state aid. WIC doesn't cover the cost of several items, for example, it covers milk, chicken, bread, but not fruits and vegetables or toilet tissue. so, i'm supposed to drink the milk, but what do wipe myself with when i have to urinate? i'm supposed to eat the ground beef, but what am i supposed to wipe myself with when i have to shit? moreover, oftentimes you have to find a job in a certain number of weeks, but what if they aren't hiring in your neighborhood? what if you cannot get transportation to where they're hiring? what if you cannot afford to take the bus or the bus doesn't go to where jobs are located?

3. nobody is willing to give anyone without proper education and credentials a job paying more than minimum wage, no matter how hard they work. that's the importance of getting an education. if i could get a decent paying job without a college education, do you honestly think i'd be saving money for my college tuition this semester? this is america, remember?

4. going to the military isn't an option for everyone. you have to pass tests, physical and educational, to make it into the military. the military doesn't except every tom, dick and harry's application. and the military is scary for many individuals, sometimes it's better to suffer where you are than to go somewhere else and suffer, because at least you know what the suffering is like at home. you understand?

i've lived in jamaica and i've spent time visiting jamaica, so if i had 2 be poor i'd live in jamaica...i lived with family members who suffered from poverty in the country and i know one thing is for sure, you don't have to go hungry. u may not have fancy clothes or more than one pair of shoes, but people are always willing to help you out by giving food...u know someone who grows breadfruit, or has a mango tree and they're willing to share with u...in jamaica you aren't treated like a poor person, you're treated like a person who needs help...and there is a big difference

people can get free food at shelters too

1. have u ever been in a shelter? people looking down on you, treating you like your less than human? have you ever eaten at a shelter? do you know what that shit tastes like? how many year round shelters do you know of? people don't just eat on thanksgiving and christmas, ya know?

2. u don't know what it's going to be like later on if you're poor...you just want to leave where you are at that moment...and you're willing to do whatever you have to do to get out that space...you're not thinking about tomorrow...f**k tomorrow, when you don't know what you're going to eat today...

1. yes i've been in shelters. do people look down on u? sure they do, but who cares, id rather have people looking down on me than starving. honestly i think treating someone less that human would be leaving them on the street to starve. does the food taste good? no, but once again, would u rather starve, ur poor, u arent getting any 5 star meal, take it or leave it. there's numerous year round shelters in new york, and i really can't base my opinion off any other city, im just talking about where im from. so if there isnt in ur city, that sucks, and i agree they should do something about it.

2. we've heard since we started school not to drop out, that a high school diploma gets u better jobs, ect ect ect. unless u have no common sense then u know that going out into the working world with not even a high school diploma is going to be HARD. if u dont consider tomorrow before u drop out of school that's kinda ur own fault.

3. i got a raise at mine within two months. so i don't know

There's lots of people that bitch in this country, but if you're going to bitch about how much this place sucks you should at least make an effort. Then you don't look like a complete a-hole... then you can say "Hey, poverty's a problem, but I'm working." or "I hate the president and I hate that our vote doesn't count, but I voted anyways." at least make an effort. What bugs me, is when people don't work and expect to be able to live off the government. American's have it pretty easy, in my opinion. The world's been going to hell for a long time, there's been lots of bad things in the past, and there are going to be bad things in the future but we've still had good things come from it.

I'm all for people voicing their opinions about the government, the war, the healthcare, etc. but don't be hypocritical about it.

I should have worded that differently. If everyone were to move from America and America were to become very insignificant on the face of the Earth, then the problem would just spread to wherever the people flocked to, and there would be a new bad guy.

agreed

and these people who complain (the ones who sit around and complain without making any effort themselves) are going to complain no matter where they go in my opinion. a lot of people like this i think thats just how they are, the grass is always greener on the other side kinda people. they'll always find something to complain about

I think America somewhat has some iffy spots. Partially because I don't agree with the government who runs it. If you don't like America, I don't think you should not stay here. I mean, theres something called the present and if you wait it out it may just get better. _smile.gif

I hate when people go around bitching about how much they hate America.

If you don't like it, leave.
If you can't leave, shut up, save up, and leave when you're able to.

You can say what you want...I'm just saying that it gets really freaking old listening to all of those annoying preteens who are fixated on anarchy and bad pop-punk music that badmouths the president and the country.

If you don't like it, work on moving elsewhere where you'll be happier.

Although, a lot of the music that speaks of overthrowing govt, anarchy, rebelling, etc. etc., it typically doesn't speak of sitting around on your ass all day complaining and not doing anything. A lot of punk music talks about doing things, taking action.

I love that movie.

Now to be serious. Yeah, I know that people have the right to say whatever the hell they want. Sure, you could say "fuck America" all day long, and talk about all the bad things that happen in our country. You could compare every area we lack in with countries that have it "better" in that area than we do, but really... what the hell are you getting at. That's what losers do. What about all the areas we excel in? Yeah, we may not have as "good" Medicare as countries like France, but we also pay less taxes. I could personally care less about what happens to that poor fat fuck down the road who finally decided to get up off his ass and work but ended up getting hurt on the way there and now his doctor won't operate because he doesn't have enough medical to pay for it. Maybe he should have gotten up and moved to France. With all the help our country offers you, citizens very rarely have anyone else to blame for their misfortune aside from themselves.

Look at us, we are of the few countries on this earth that's free enough to let you carry a gun around and civilized enough not to have rampant terrorist organizations growing within it's self spreading fear. I own nine pistols, two shotguns, and six mussel loaders. I swear, if any mother fucker stupid enough to attack me on my own property did such a thing. I would shoot him center-mass until he stopped. I wouldn't trade that right for anything. My family is safe. I see these idiots running around with "Tougher Gun Control" strapped to their signatures. I'm just happy they don't live in the US.

I absolutely hate how everyone expects things to be perfect. It's like, when someone takes adv. of one of our rights and uses it in a negative way, people have this tenancy to want to get rid of that right. For example, the gun thing, Virginia Tech shooting... so many people wanted tougher gun control as soon as that broke out.

You know, the only one year before that shooting at Virginia Tech they killed a bill allowing faculty to carry concealed weapons. Larry Hincker spokesman for V. tech said that "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus." Just after the bill was dropped.

Do you think that the V-Tech shooting would have happened if the faculty and staff had weapons of their own to fire back with? I doubt it, of course it can never be proven either way, but look at statistics. Utah and Oregon are the only states in the US were the entire staff of a school is allowed to carry concealed weapons. Have you ever heard of a school shooting in either of these two states? No, you'll be hard pressed to find one because there never has been a school shooting in either state. The truth is, criminals just don't like their victims to be shooting back at them.

If you really hate America that much. Fuck you, leave. GUNS FUCKING RULE! BOOYAKASHA!

Guns, one more reason America is better than you. We'll put a boot in your ass.

^I disagree.

America has many faults, the biggest of which is that we fear our gov't. No no no, this should not be the way. We should live like the French do, they elect people into office who are bigger pussies than they are. Thats why as a culture they live the best. America may be the "strongest" country in the world, but I dont see anyone bombing those french fry making bastards. But no, I think france is too extreme. Lets go halfway with Canada. Now sure, Canada is pretty much the punchline of countries, but they live easy and have practically all the benefits of Americans. I mean shit, they live better than the russians. Or the Africans. Africans just love to kill eachother. hmm, I wonder why. They just love to shoot eachother to little blood piles. I say Icky, not for me.

Americans take things for granted. They have the right of free speech, hold arms, free press, and they have a democracy. We can criticize the president on national television legally, which you can't do in some other countries. If America sucks so much, then I believe that people should just move out. I also believe that those who hate America so much but don't want to move out don't have the money to, or they already have a foundation for an at least basic lifestyle in the US.

To solve all these problems, Michael Moore must be rid of!

I honestly don't care either way. If you disagree with it, ok. That's fine by me, just stand your ground in an arguement, I say. I don't its exactly necessary to move to another country; you can if you want. I personally just don't want to hear your complaints. I complain about stuff on my own; why would I want to hear yours? Just don't try to convince me that it sucks or doesnt suck.

Now I bet just about confused everyone.

What the hell.. I swear, I think that this must be the first time you have ever even commented in this topic. I tell you, you didn't confuse me. I will translate what you said for the community to understand:

"I am a self-righteous geek who likes to put Anime characters that I think look as if they have cool personalities (well, cooler than mine at least). I think I'm good at tinkering with my computer, because all the friends I have suck at it. In comparison to them though... I'm good. I like video games, and I play them with a headset. I'm that retarded vidiot who knows how to play the game but doesn't have a strategy and sounds like a girl. My voice ruins all my victories because no matter how good I get, I will always sound squirrely, and people always make fun of me. I get really really mad when I loose because it's the only thing I'm good at and it's one of the few things that allow my to compare myself against others and actually win.

I don't know what to like, because I'm afraid to have an opinion of anything. If I'm not playing a game (and winning), I'm whining to my parents about how unfair something is because I haven't sucked on my pacifier enough lately. I am only confusing because I'm a total waste of life... I am also an idiot.

I am only posting on this site because I'm bored. I really don't even know where I am right now. I think I'll go cut myself to fit in with all the cool kids at school."

Carry on everyone.. it's ok. don't let that idiot stop you. He's not one of us. Just let him die, he'll probably spontaneously combust from stupidity from the massive levels of stupidity.

America has one of the highest livng conditions in the world, and poor ppl get welfare and other gov. programs in order to compensate their lives.
Also, America always libierty and civil rights. We are a democratic nation, and the first democratic nation to be born. I cant think of anywhere else where we are allowed to use any freedom of action unless we impede on others liberites.

Yeah, I think if you're going to piss and moan over how much you don't like it here, then your best bet is to leave. Some people don't seem to understand how good they have it here compared to other countries. Lots of people try to escape and get here just so they can have more of a chance to live, be more successful, and live out their dreams.

You raise an interesting point. I love how all these people (I'm gonna generalize and say Middle-Easterners) come to this country uninvited and have the fucking nerve to complain and say our morales and everything are so mixed up, fuck you asshole, leave. No one wanted you here in the first place, we already have enough cab drivers and corner store owners talking shit to us in their booga booga language behind their lumberjack beards without your retarded input. If you dont like it here, leave. sure they should leave, doesn't mean they're going to though.
i personall like america. me being american and all. it's clean and have everything. we should appreciate living in america since right now it's like the richest country. rich country=better environment. and we're one of the most powerful.but yeah there are some things i don't really like..the war and our reputaion. there was this one time i met this autralian guy and he was like yeah americans are arrogant. i was like what the hell. and it's not that just him and that. we're apparently stupid also. stubborn.gif

Should people who think America sucks so bad stay in America? I personally think that if you hate the country so much, and all you do is bitch and moan about it, then you should pack yo bags :)

That or try to do something about it.

uhhh... civil war, civil rights movement, feminists, polotical candidates, religous orders, revolutionaries, pro and anti militaristic individuals... the list goes on. so all of these people with opposing ideas (in contrast to the main stream or set laws of the time) should just pack up and leave? you sir, obviously have no idea what america is all about. you talk like a dictator, yet you are commenting on a democratic nation. i'm sorry i hate to bash on people but you're post came across and particularly idiodic and most likely ignorant.

Okay I'm back. Hey dumbf**k, read what I wrote again.

QUOTE

AH MAI GAWD! COULD THAT BE A LIMITER?

What the f**k does the civil war have to do with that statement? Or feminists? How do feminists have anything to do with people who bitch and moan about America? Political candidates make promises and preach their policy to listeners, regardless if they'll carry through with it or not. Religious orders? Is the definition of religious order a group of people who bitch and moan about America and do nothing else to try to better it? Revolutionaries? Don't we have our freedom? The list goes on.

Maybe I should have underlined and bolded "and" to make sure people didn't make an idiotic mistake and overlook that oh so crucial word in that statement. Nah I'm glad I didn't, it gives me the opportunity to laugh at the ignorance and stupidity of people such as yourself. Idiot.

err, sorry for uh...i guess "spamming" the thread, but...back to the "you should leave" stuff.
understand i'm racist against americans-i'm 100% scottish.
i would leave in a heartbeat if i could. the thing is, i don't have a choice. what am i supposed to do? ruin the extremely promising future i have already just handed to me, and run away? i don't think so.
i hate when people tell me i should leave. i've had it mentioned just a few too many times lately. i'm too young, my parents wouldn't just get up and move back to the UK because i hate americans.

Yes, why? Apparently money > your desires. If you would go back in a heart beat, go back as soon as you can. Money shouldn't determine your happiness. Go back to Scotland, we don't want you.

Way to speak for a nation. I like foreign-born people, they have views that are totally refreshing and out of place in Hicksville, IN. Americans are dickwads. Mr. Caledonian, if you want to quaff carouses about how much America sucks I'm up for it.

"Hi. I'm a sophomore in college.
I like to argue. I'm a conservative (very) college student. There's an overwhelming stupidity plaguing the world, and people just don't get it. Especially the media. I like to argue."

this is from your profile. i see you definitely like to argue... for the sake of argueing

Cheers :)

I love arguing, not going to deny it, but I really would like your response? Did you just overlook "all" and make the assumption that I thought everyone who simply disagreed should get out?

I see you are the perfect student. What defines perfect student? Ass kisser who never disagrees with the always correct professors? I'm sure you have a 4.0, as well. Never sinning? I'm sorry but you more than likely sin on a daily basis. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just foolish. You love flowers and happy things hm? That would lead me to believe that you're flat out, a pussy.

^ it's sarcastic, maybe if you read the rest of my profile you would have noticed that.

i like how you edit out the parts of my profile to make me look however you intend, you have the makings of a polotician my friend

From my "About Me"
"i had to get rid of my original introduction because some people started looking up my profile and giving my crap so you'll just have to talk to me i guess. if you have a diary i suggest burning it now.

My name is Amechi Ochiagha. I am the perfect student and hope to fulfill my life's goals through working hard and never commiting sin. I aslo love flowers and happy things."

i love how people shaddap once they realize their point is lost

*edit: this is getting a little off topic, so i made one for us to debate about nothingness http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=194833
