Fight Club! Options

Hey guys, here's an idea: Create a separate forum for debates and arguments so that the other forums are kept clean. This worked well on another forum that I frequent. Any posts that seemed to induce an argument were either deleted or moved into the Fight Club forum. This forum isn't as closely moderated and it could allow some members here to let of steam without inflicting damage to the forum as a whole if others don't wish to participate in the quarrel.

Issues I will address (because I know other will argue):

• This will cause further conflict between members: Well if they wish to hate on each other, instead of holding it in they can express it here and not share it with the world in The Lounge for instance.
• So why don't they use PMs?: Maybe they'd like to share it with those who care and would support them, this allows the People Staff to do their job and sort out the conflict.
• This will just cause more drama: Oh please, I've been a part of many clubs and organizations and I can tell you none were drama free, how do you expect society to function without conflict? Not everyone can play George Bush and just nuke the hell out of their enemies (kind of one sided don't you think?).

I remember seeing another forum that had something similar to this. They called it the "Flame War" subforum, or something like that.




They removed it because it failed.

This is just...no. We've tried "hate" threads and non-anon. shout outs, those get out of hand far too quickly and no good really comes out of it.

I seen stuff like that in other forums and it failed miserably. It is not going to work because things are going to get out of hand way too fast

That's the point...everything that gets out of hand gets sent to this forum. If you chose to browse it or not would be your choice, no? If you're not looking to get into beef you'd avoid this forum.

I already see member bashing everywhere, I guess even if there were a Fight Club or not it's going to happen. This would probably just organize the bashing and keep it low key since people choose to post/browse here by their own free will. No one even has to read what people have to say there. But when a bash is posted in The Lounge, what will everyone do? Read with their eyes closed and pray when they open them they might get lucky and have a nice post as opposed to a bashing one? Haha, that sounded like it made little to no sense, which it may have...but what the hell; my two cents.

i can usually tell what's going to have bashing in it and what isn't. if people don't want to see bashing they should probably stay in topics like "what's your favorite color" and stay out of topics like "here's some f**king feedback"

Sort of like the rant forum that has been mentioned multiple times. It seems like a good idea hypothetically since members will be forced to channel their rants/bashing only to that forum but realistically speaking, it's not a good idea for CB. The multiple hate threads that are now closed prove that.

But in this case this special forum wouldn't be as closely moderated due to its nature. Just take a quick look around the forums right now and I bet within 5 minutes you can find at least 10 posts that belong in the Fight Club not in The Lounge or Pictures forums or anywhere else for that matter...

COME ON, let's have a Fight Club already! Who the heck is with me!? Judging by all the topics and members creating posts out there, I would have a pretty huge following for this forum. It's just no one is speaking up in favor of it probably because they're afraid of being shunned and having their posts deleted! In that case you can PM me your support and we'll form an underground legion in support of a Fight Club (that's how it operated in the movie right? Yes...underground...).

Do I have to go out there and pick and choose to show you which posts belong in Fight Club? Would that shed light on this for you people?

You know, we used to have that cB Octagon run by Steven Ding, if anyone remembered that. It may even still be open, but I haven't checked.

Ummm we all know there is member bashing and whatnot, so NO we don't need you to find posts. Our point is that we don't need an entire forum dedicated to solely member bashing, it would not do anything besides encourage it more. I don't even think it would cut down on bashing/fights throughout the rest of the forum.

I'm not sure this is such a good idea. As Rachel said, I think it would just encourage members to bash more. For the people that do member bash, I doubt they would limit themselves to just one forum. Overall, I think its the last thing we want need, more drama.
