I know a lot of you hate it when people say cB was "better" back in the day, but I really think it's true. Of course, that's just my opinion. Reading through past posts doesn't do much. Actually looking back at the older topics does. I saw Kathleen was looking at this first tongue.gif

http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=40590

Not like most of you were active back then, but it does bring back old, good memories. The mods were more easy going (I would know), there wasn't much drama, the members and staff weren't divided, and it was just more... fun. Most of the replies in that topic would be considered spam today.

Eh, I'm tired. Reminiscing sucks.

I was looking at that because that f**ker called my boyfriend ugly and I wanted to prove to him that he's not.

And yeah, I miss those days, but with the current moderators we have in place, you know, the ones who like to make up rules as they go along.. the untouchable ones.. well, that won't ever happen.

Also, remember when the mods were so dedicated that there would be one online at all times?

It was much better then. They need to hire some of the old mods back. I don't really mind the current ones but i much prefer the old ones

I'm not the only one who turned "evil/bad":

Seon Ho turning bad wasn't quite shocking to me (personal opinion) besides I don't think he started out with attack of the mods. I don't just see the reason why you've turned evil.

Seriously, it took A LOT for us to warn someone. We were very easy going back then.

Here's an attempt at me trying to mod

Ok... everyone, just stop, i don't wanna be coming in here having to read all this BS... really, just stop.

Plus, it's drawing attention away from my pictures dammit stubborn.gif

Haha, no, but seriously, There's not need for all this arguing. I'd appreciate it if you guys stop bickering after I post this, really, because it's all just stupid.

Never a need to threaten to warn someone.

We were all equal. Well, except for the n00bs tongue.gif

Well the members back then were completely different from the ones now. Besides, things HAVE to change. You can't expect the same old layouts or the same old modding techniques.
According to you guys, the mods are becoming worse, woohoo. Blame the members then.

Moderators warn those you aren't following the rules (well, most of the time). Blame those who fail to act straight. It's always like this though, even at school. Students ALWAYS attack the teachers. A pattern, really.

We were never attacked when we were moderators? At least, not nearly as much as the current staff.

In all honesty, I think we did a better job at moderating the forums and handling situations.

Because in the past, there weren't teachers and students... we were actually on the same level.

Probably because everyone was the same. cB is more diverse, there are different personalities on board, things are bound to change. You can't expect everything to be like 2004. It's mission impossible.

Hm...I was active back then under a different name, but I didn't really know anyone. And I have to agree, cB was more clique-ish then than it is now.

Yeah, the moderating at that time wasn't the same as it is now. I would see moderators bash newbies, spam, close topics because the topic starter was "stupid", and bitch out everyone in the community. That could never happen today. They were not in the same level...it was a lot more clique-y back then than it is now. How can you speak for how inviting/personable the moderators were back then, when you were a moderator? I'm talking to you from a member's standpoint.

Today, I can only tell you what we are trying to do. You can interpret it in whatever way that you want.

Well, look where we got cB now. Something worked -- clearly members liked us enough to stay. Oh, and enough lurkers liked us enough to join. Just stop, honestly.

Edit // What cliques are you talking about? A lot of us moderators didn't like each other many times, which kept us in check. All of you guys hire your friends and everyone's afraid to criticize someone when they're modding, which creates a problem. For instance, Trish and I hated each other back then and were always on each others' cases, which pushed us both to become better staff members.

Edit // ALSO. More clique-ish? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. Backstage back then was SOLELY for the purpose of discussing work. We didn't have chit-chat threads that members were obviously not part of.

If you really believe that, you've deluded yourself, Kathleen, or developed selective memory.

Either way, neither are attractive.

What's more, I don't think that thread would be closed if it were created to day. Perhaps try creating it, rather than bitching about how you never could.

Yes, believe it or not cB was quite clique-ish back then. Perhaps you don't remember or weren't aware, but I remember getting this clique-ish vibe from many cB members. I suppose that can't be helped, though. People will always have preferred friends.
