I love the patterened background! I also like the banner, how professional it looks and the way the image is sliced on the right. I like this layout a lot. I think you did well on this layout!

This is a lovely, simple site. It's pleasant on the eyes and functional. The banner is nicely done. I think my only minor criticism is the black you used at the top ("Retrospective"). The site has an overall softness to it and the black is a bit of a contrast to that.
