Today when i was at work [lifeguarding] i noticed a lot of people who held their nose when they went under the water.
Do you hold your nose when you go under... i never have, but maybe i'm weird

I did when I first learned how to swim, so that was when I was seven. Haven't done it since then. Besides, I can't swim properly if I have one hand pinching my nose shut.

I dont. Why do people even hold their noses? According to the laws of physics, water wont go up into your nose.

i only do if im jumping off the high diving board backwards. otherwise, water shoots up there even if im breathing out.

I did that HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHCKA. I just noticed that I haven't done that in a loooong time, but when I was small, my friends and I used to use one hand to hold our nose, and then we'd stick up our other arm way in the air and wave it as we went down.

I'll have too must water in my nose if I don't hold it. But I don't really pencil jump into a pool anymore since I don't go to a community pool and my pool is above ground... Well as you know I can't swim but when I do just go underwater and pop up I held my nose because it was the trend in elementary school.

I don't know how to swim either.
 But, when I've put my head underwater I hold my nose. Only because I've seen it in like, movies and stuff though.
