I've been thinking about taking creatine but is it legit? What do you guys think? Are there any short or long term side effects?
How effective is it? Cause i don't want to get TOO buff. |

Ah my friend, creatine is basically what you have in your muscles. They create it. It's sort of a protein.
Creatine isn't dangerous. It's not a steroid, doesn't have side effects. Actually it does have 1 side effect. Depending on what sort of Creatine you buy, you can get "bloated" making you look soft. Which is water retention, but it's perfectly normal. All you'd have to do is cardio while stacking creatine. As far as being too buff lol... it would take you a few years. Not because of you, but because if you only depended on protein and creatine... (which is considered natural) it would take you years at a time to gain serious lean mass. It took me a lil over 1 year to gain 10lbs of lean muscle mass on just protein and creatine. So you have nothing to worry about. Go here and sign up... learn a lil something, ask any questions you'd like but make sure you let them know you're a newb and you need some help: www.bodybuilding.com/forum |

Hmm ok..
I asked my friend about this. He's taking it too. he said creatine puts water into your muscles to make them bigger.. it gives you energy. He also said that once you stop taking them, you'll get weaker.. for example benching + creatine= 150lb MAX benching without creatine (after a couple of days/weeks of quitting) = 130lb MAX. is that true? he also said the side effects could include pimples, dizyness. |

He's taking it too. he said creatine puts water into your muscles to make them bigger.. it gives you energy. He also said that once you stop taking them, you'll get weaker.. for example In a sense, yes it does put water into your muscles. What it really does is, it opens up the fibers of your muscles so that protein can be absorbed a lot better then fills in and maximizes your muscle size. It doesn't really give you energy, but it does give you endurance. Once you stop taking creatine, you won't lose your size unless you stop eating healthy and stop going to the gym. As long as you eat healthy and train properly in the gym... you have nothing to worry about. Creatine is just to add size safely. And you can keep them permanently. You won't get weaker either unless you stop training in the gym. QUOTE benching + creatine= 150lb MAX benching without creatine (after a couple of days/weeks of quitting) = 130lb MAX. is that true? Uhm... no. I'm not callin him a liar, but he's just misinformed. Creatine only helps size, not strength. Strength only comes through repetition. Which takes weeks. But there's "newbie" gains, which will come real fast, this is what gets people hooked into the gym. Because 1 month of training for the first time transforms you ridiculously. You'll love it trust me. QUOTE he also said the side effects could include pimples, dizyness. Dizziness is dehydration or taking too much caffeine/ephedra (when your heart races tooooo fast) Pimples well lol... he just needs to bathe properly and learn to wash his sheets every few days and not use the same towel more than twice. Like I said bud... just join the forum @ bodybuilding.com don't be shy, you gotta start some where. Training is really good for you man. There's two different types of training. Strength and bulking. You don't want to get massively big (Even though that's pretty addicting)? Then go with strength training. You build some mass, but you'll become really strong. ![]() |

Thanks, Danny(?) ![]() Can you reword that bolded statement? ![]() In other words... when you go to the gym, anyone who goes to the gym for that matter, for their first time. Their gains come in quick. Strength and size, it's the luck of a newb. That's what bodybuilders call it. Newb technically means you're green/new to the subject/activity. So when you first start going to the gym, you'll quickly gain strength and size. After those newb gains, then things slow down... you'll have to work harder to gain them ![]() |

Why do we have to work harder to gain them, when things slow down?
How do you massively gain strength and size as a newbie? |

Why do we have to work harder to gain them, when things slow down? How do you massively gain strength and size as a newbie? It takes about a year to naturally gain 10 lbs of lean muscle mass.. after newbie gains. Newbie gains are usually 5-10lbs of lean mass within 6 months... then it starts to slow down because your body gets used to the work outs... so all you can do is rep weights more or add more weight. |
