i use gimp, but i'm sure it's converable. you have to use at least three layers and set it to the blending mode.

^ No, well, you can do that, but imageready has something called tweening.

also you can use a ULEAD GIF Animator you can download it from me http://ecc.xlayoutsx.com/ [click on downloads] that works well when you want to do stuff like that.
