Ultimate Myspace, See if they've stolen your div

Okay, So, I've been searching around websites, and looking and searching through some stuff, and I've noticed that ALOT of people are mad at Ultimatemyspace.com

And they should, Ultimatemyspace has stolen MANY of the layouts from createblog designers. And the Ironic thing is, they add their own links to the div codes.

See if they've stolen your creation.

Usually when this sort of thing happens, an Admin will email/message the owner of the site and try and get them to remove it.

^and it usually doesn't work. Because they more than likely don't care because all the layouts have the links back to the creator on createblog wink.gif

I've worked for people that own those types of sites before, they don't care. They usually buy those layouts from other people anyway. Even some of them even know Jusun, so I mean that just gives them all the more reason why they wouldn't want to take them off.

^Exactly.

I seriously use to look at these things as such a serious matter. On how it was completely rude that they would do something like that. But I mean come on their pretty much doing the designers a favor.

Although on this site they did remove the createblog link. I guess it isn't to big of a problem for me since I always leave links in the codes that places a link in the top left corner back to my own myspace.

^ How is stealing a design without permission doing the designer a favor? Unlike here, the original designers at the site arent getting any credit for their work. mellow.gif

Their leaving a link to you just like createblog is doing. I mean come on its the internet. Oh and don't say unlike the "original" designers. that really makes you come off a little eh and makes it sound like I'm not a "original" designer.

Once you post your stuff on this site. Its up in the air anyone can take it and alter your work and put credit links on it to themselves. If your going to get all worked up over it then you don't need to put your stuff on the internet. There is no way your ever going to stop little petty problems like these.

Ahhh sorry about that, I didnt realize they were leaving a link. pinch.gif

Whaaat? I didnt mean it like that. I meant the person who created each layout that "Ultimate Myspace" has taken from here. I wasnt referring to you or anyone else.

I understand that... I'm just assuming that the layouts here are copywrited, and not to be redistributed without permission. I could care less if someone takes MY designs... they're all crap I submitted over a year ago. But some people spend alot of time creating the layouts they submit here. And how am I getting all worked up? I'm just concerned like anyone else would be. blink.gif

Holly, I do agree with you, it is kinda like ultimatemyspace is promoting cB, but I also agree with kimmytree. Taking layouts without persmission, and displaying them as though you've made them is redistributing right?

Unless you own copyrights to all the work featured in a layout there isn't much you can really do about it. Quite frankly, most images used in layouts don't belong to the creator of the layout. I realize that it's can be frustrating in the cases in which some sites take someone's layout that they have worked hard on and don't bother to give credit to the creator but the internet is vast, as we all know, and it happens, unfortunately.

I see my Another Side(DIV) wave.gif Haha, the only site that messed with the original links and didn't give credit back to the original designers was some site using them for Friendster.com stubborn.gif Gah, I hate that site, to this day.

Ricky, Be happy that a lot of the layouts got removed. (Unless they were put back) .

One thing you need to know is that when you put your layouts online be prepared for anyone to take it and use it for what they want. We've already know about this site (I think) and others like it. If you want to see more then just search there isn't much we can do. With friendster I was actually able to get them to remove a lot of the layouts (Not sure if they put them back afterwards because I haven't been back since) but you need to just understand when you put something online its out there for the public to use. It sucks but its reality.

Add what Kiera said to this post.

Yeah, I've had people take the div image, and try to cover up the image with their own, the thing is, you can still see little bits of the borders from the original image _dry.gif

Lol they took a couple of mine, but the links to my layouts that I added to the image maps are still there. I obviously would prefer other sites didn't have my layouts, but since my link is still there, I can't really complain.

hi, if you read more closely, the submissions you submit to createblog.com to grant exclusive license to distribute, so theyre breaking the terms.

ill contact them shortly.

Yeah, the layouts that they have from me link directly back to my myspace for which I credit createblog. I think some of the links even lead back to cB, if they've uploaded my latest ones.

I've been getting my layouts on these kinds of sites since Xanga.

You can't do anything about it. If you post them here on createBlog (or any other website, for that matter) they do not claim ownership. Hell, you don't even claim ownership if you didn't take the photo yourself. It doesn't matter if you've edited so much that you can't even recognize it. We are the ones who could be liable to lawsuits ;)

Then again, what is wrong with a little publicity? Sites like these get thousands of hits per day because of the little Myspace scrubs who go on Google and search "myspace cute girly pink layout." They leave your link intact.

That's what I've been thinking. Though, I can also see the hassle it not knowing where your work is ending up.
